View Full Version : I don't want The Rock back...

First let me say that, although this is my first post, I have been an everyday avid reader and follower of tpww.net for years. I am not sure why I haven't signed up to post until just now. Anyway, I know I am probably painting a huge bullseye on my forehead for saying that I do not want The Rock back in WWE, but let me explain.

I love The Rock. He was one of the greatest personalities ever and had unparalleled charisma and natural talent. He was especially great as a heel (see the Toronto promo after they booed him at Wrestlemania.)

However, this PG garbage in the WWE makes me want to lobotomize myself with a rusty spork. Now, I know The Rock said he wanted to invoke the "Attitude" era whenever he made his appearance and if done properly...would be HUGE. I am just concerned that WWE will not give him the freedom to completely be himself. I know that money is what drives Vinnie Mac and he is cramming this PG crap down our throats so he can continue to get sponsorship dollars from Mattel or whatever, but how far could they let The Rock go and not raise any eyebrows (no pun intended.)
Think of the Jabroni beatin', pie eatin', lalalalala, etc. Do you really think a promotion that stops matches when people bleed would let him make reference to sex? The best we get now are gay jokes when it comes to stuff like that. I am not saying that The Rock has changed or that he can't be amazing like he always was. I am simply saying that if the WWE thinks they would be doing us a favor by giving us a PG driven / watered down ghost of what could have been a great night with the most charismatic champion EVER...they are wrong. While we are on the topic...how do you all see a PG show with Stone Cold hosting going? No middle fingers....no Austin just whipped your ass...lucky if we get "Gimme a hell yeah!" I may be completely wrong about this and the shows could be AMAZING, but I also thought the show with Bret returning would be amazing. Aside from the Michaels segment...meh.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I think they'd probably change the policy a bit for The Rock and Stone Cold

I really hope so, I just don't know how far they will be allowed to go before the child friendly sponsors start to ask questions.

Thank you, btw...I am also dreading the inevitable increase of the "What?" chants after SCSA comes back for a night...

that will be annoying

Yes the "what" chant is horrible, I hate it when the crowd does that. And to the topic, I think that WWE would let the Rock be the Rock, attitude style or whatever he wants.

Yeah guys like Rock, Austin, HHH can be themselves since they are big enough stars and everyone knows what they're about.

The PG stuff is pretty gay but PG isn't THAT restrictive. That 70's Show was TV PG wasn't it? They always had sex stuff and swears on it.

I think The Rock is great because of who he is, not what he says. I geniunely think he'll be able to shine through. Obviously it won't be the same but I still think it'll be good.

I blame wrestlers if they get 'what' chants. It's not hard just to change your rhythm of speech and just confuse the audience. I swear I've seen it done.

I'm fairly positive that The Rock could be entertaining, no matter what restriction they put on him (i.e. foul language, sexual induendos, euphamisms, etc.)

Well, The Rock is versatile if nothing else. I think he'd be funny, entertaining, and awesome no matter what era he'd be in.

He was on Conan in I think 2007? He was hilarious on that and from what I remember was pretty "PG". Him and Conan have great chemistry btw

I'd love for Conan to host RAW.

I thought about that too. It's owned by USA is owned by NBC though. I don't know if Conan wouldn't do it on the principle.

I too concur with the "Phant"... Yet Rocky is pretty damn versatile... I actually saw the Tooth Fairy, yes, I'll admit it... Took a friends kid to it... Pretty damn funny... And it's as PG as you are going to get with Disney and all...

Wait, you went with a friend's kid? This is pretty weird.

I thought that catholic church members were fond of the old man/young boy relationships these days?

It would be awkward to turn something sideways and stick it straight up my candy butt.

The rock is gonna take his size 13 shoe, shine it up real nice, turn that puppy-lover sideways and stick it straight up your chocolate-coated-anus.

It's not like priests fuck their own children, eh?

And we are all Jewus' children.

The Rock made me love Walking Tall. That is a very, very bad movie.

I dont want Rock back because he ain't the rock anymore. He is "DJ" or Dwayne Johnson and I dont like Dwayne Johnson because he is mad lame. Rock was great, so I dont want to see this pathetic actor that he become because it will just make me remember when Rock was good and make "DJ" look even worse in comparision.

If "DJ" never wrestled and was just an actor, that would be okay. If The Rock retired and did not become Dwayne Johnson, that would be great. But, "DJ", Hollywood's "fairy", coming in as "The Rock" which he has not been forever, will be a joke.

An unfunny joke.

Go watch his HOF and SmackDown appearances, and then tell me that The Rock still doesn't have it. You could see it in his eyes and the HOF, he still has it in him. He can still cut a promo and he can still work a crowd.

If he's serious about coming back, we are getting nothing short of the The Rock, not Dwayne Johnson.
