DAMN iNATOR
01-26-2010, 10:14 PM
Smackdown (Airing Friday on MyNetworkTV):
* Degeneration X come out to open the show. Triple H starts to talk when Rey Mysterio comes out and says Shawn Michaels doesn't think he can beat The Undertaker for the belt at Royal Rumble. The Straight Edge Society come out. Triple H says he's surprised CM Punk is straight and makes fun of him. Teddy Long comes out and says there will not be a Unified WWE Tag Team Championship match tonight. Instead, Mysterio will fight Michaels right now and Triple H will fight CM Punk.
* Triple H b. CM Punk via disqualification when both members of the Straight Edge Society interfere. They jump Hunter and try to shave his head but Michaels comes out for the save. DX tries to attack Punk but he puts Serena Deeb in front of him, kisses her and sneaks out of the rink. HBK fakes Sweet Chin Music on Serena and exits.
* Chris Jericho is shown backstage on his way to the ring.
* R-Truth b. Chris Jericho after a failed Codebreaker on the ropes as Truth rolled over top of Jericho for the pin.
* Backstage Batista interview. He talks about the Royal Rumble match. John Morrison is shown on his way to the ring.
* John Morrison vs. WWE Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre. Drew McIntyre gets the pin to retain after Morrison went for Starship Pain and McIntyre got his knees up. McIntyre hit a double arm DDT onto the IC belt and gets the pin.
* Michelle McCool interview. She says she is going to send Piggy James back to the barnyard for good, etc. Then ends by say Mickie went wee, wee, wee all the way home. Michelle issues an ope challenge to the locker room. Mickie James' music hits and Layla comes out in a fat suit with a pig nose dressed like Mickie James.
* Michelle McCool vs. Layla (dressed as Piggy James). Layla slowly chases McCool around the outside of the ring, back in and goes for a splash. McCool pins her for the win. The crowd lets them hear it with "boring" chants.
* In a backstage segment Shawn Michaels is shown on his way to the ring. Batista gets in his face and tells him to stay out of his way on Sunday. Triple H gets in Batista's face and Batista back downs.
* Shawn Michaels vs. Rey Mysterio. Rey goes for 619 early, Shawn moves. The match goes back and forth when Rey hits head scissors on Michaels, taking him to the outside. Mysterio hits 619, goes for the springboard, but Michaels counters and hits Sweet Chin Music out of nowhere. Both men are down. Batista comes out and spears HBK then hits a spinebuster on Mysterio. Triple H hits the ring and clotheslines Batista over the top and goes out after him. The lights go out and The Undertaker's music hits. The lights come up and Undertaker is in the ring. He double chokeslams Mysterio and Michaels to end the show.
Dark Match Main Event:
* DeGeneration X & The Undertaker vs. CM Punk, Luke Gallows & Chris Jericho. Undertaker hits Jericho with a chokeslam for the win. Undertaker was not heavily involved in the match.

<font color=goldenrod>Jericho jobbing again...ugh. At least R-Truth will be set on his way as Edge will be coming back and he and Jericho will have an awesome feud.
Really fucking annoying that they did away with the Tag Title match though...probably putting it off so that when they finally lose the belts it will be due to DX turning on each other.</font>

Sounds like an odd show. Shouldnt be surprised about no tag title match. Like HHH would want to job on Smackdown.

I would have put Chris Jericho over R-Truth, but it sounds like Jericho looks good in losing. I wish the other matches had decisive finishes, too. Triple H beating CM Punk via disqualification makes sense, but they could have put Rey Mysterio over Shawn Michaels, or something.
Aside from the Divas matches, that really sounds like a great show. McIntyre vs. Morrison, Jericho vs. R-Truth, Triple H vs. CM Punk, HBK vs. Mysterio.
And leading up to the Rumble, I'm really hoping that I'm right about Punk winning the thing and HBK costing Undertaker his World Title to Mysterio.

I am not too upset about the tag team match being cancelled. The match was going to end in DX winning most likely. I would have liked an end to the Punk/HHH and HBK/Rey match, but thats ok.

Nobody gets eliminated until number 30 enters the ring and then all hell breaks loose when the ring buckles and breaks causing all 30 men to simotaneously touch the floor with both feet at the exact same time.

I had a lot of fun at this show, but I was deeply saddened by the lack of title defense and the lack of finish to the Mysterio/Michaels match. Also, Jericho didn't look that good losing, mostly because it was to R-Truth. I was having a spirited discussion with a kid behind me talking about how R-Truth will never be a major player because he can't focus in the ring, and all he wants to do is dance and rap. I told him that Chris Jericho is the greatest of all time, and he has the titles to prove it. He basically told me that R-Truth was just having fun and that Jericho was a jerk. It didn't help my argument at all when Truth won. :(

I think they are saving it till after the Rumble. I would have one member of DX eliminate the other, but then that person doesn't win the Rumble. So let's say Triple H eliminates HBK. Next Friday's SD (the one after the Rumble) I would have CM Punk get his title shot, and when it looks like DX is going to win, BAM Sweet Chin Music drops Hunter, they drop the tag titles to CM Punk and Luke Gallows, and HBK effectively turns Heel in his quest to go after Taker

Joking with the same kid behind me, I kept saying "man, Mickie James really does look fat in person. I never noticed it on TV" and he would be like "That's Layla!" and I'm like "no, pretty sure that's actually Mickie". Good times.

seems like Jericho is getting more and more jobbed out/punished these days....wonder if his recent run-in brush with the law along side Gregory Helms will have any impact on his WWE status and what their future plans are with them. Such a shame to be wasting the talent and time of someone like the first ever Undisputed Champ.

Morrison has been on the heels of a cold streak from the WWE Writers lately but perhaps thats a sign of things to come TL....perhaps as a dark horse MITB winner at WrestleMania this year....could be interesting if he was...i'm already counting on him being in the match....and probably in the Smackdown Elimination Chamber at the Feb pay per view.

try Rage-Streams.net....pretty good people for having decent premium and free feeds that don't get shutdown...I watch Raw and ECW on one of their affiliate channels on JTV called ChaosRage...and I mod there....been a great way for me to have some great wrestling discussions, meet new people, and enjoy the broadcast. I honestly get more out of watching it online than watching even the cable based shows on actual television. I even cancelled my cable because of it...so now i'm saving 40 bucks a month...go figure.

01-30-2010, 03:35 AM
Yeah, I actually enjoyed Triple H's opening jokes on CM Punk, too. "You don't drink, you don't smoke, you don't do drugs. Neither do I, but at least I don't look like I've been on a week-long crack binge with Amy Winehouse." KK would have been happy. I enjoyed CM Punk actually firing back with an "amateur comedy hour" line at Triple H, too.
I do think that CM Punk should have gone over Triple H with some help from his Society. It makes them look strong, reminds everyone that CM Punk is a threat, and builds heat and tension between both DX and the Straight-Edge Society, but even between Triple H and Shawn Michaels.

all 30 men become #1 contender at Wrestlemania
So it's essentially John Cena and his 29 clones?
Mr. Nerfect
01-30-2010, 04:25 AM
I would actually love to see a Royal Rumble where no one is eliminated until the #30 guy gets in. How crazy would that be? The WWE have has done 20-man Battle Royals before. What's an extra ten guys? A lot of weight, I guess, and hardly much room to move. But you could have some guys fighting on the floor, or what have you.
It'd make that year's Royal Rumble memorable, to say the least.

I really enjoyed SmackDown! this week, and the opening segment was awesome. Was the crowd that hot or was it Post-Production Syndrome?
Anybody Thrilla
01-30-2010, 11:55 PM
The crowd was pretty hot. The reactions all seemed pretty legit, besides two things I noticed:
1) They edited out a bunch of "WHAT?" chants during Ezekiel Jackson's promo and
2) They edited out a "BORING" chant during the Piggy James segment.
Everything else was pretty much legit.

I hope the Royal Rumble crowd is hot, as a hot crowd makes a show seem a lot better than it is. The opening segment of SD! probably would have come off shitty on TV on RAW with a dead crowd. Atlanta is somewhat of a 'rasslin town, so hopefully they are stoked about the show.
