Mr. Nerfect

Right now, there doesn't seem to be much going on for the guy. I mean, he's over, he's one of the best workers in the WWE, but he's stuck on ECW feuding with guys the WWE is probably thinking about pushing one day. It's hard to imagine Christian doing much for WrestleMania XXVI besides perhaps being in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match or being in a thrown together ECW Title contest. So anyway, here is an idea I have for Christian. It's not fully fleshed out, but I think the set-up and such for it is good:
Have Christian successfully defend the ECW Title against Ezekiel Jackson at the Royal Rumble despite William Regal's interference. Then, on ECW, have Christian cut a promo where he says he has beaten pretty much everyone on the ECW roster. He wants a new challenge, but is not so sure there is one for him. "One of a Kind" blares over the arena, and out comes a returning Rob Van Dam (he might also appear in the Royal Rumble Match, or something). RVD says that they have battled in the past, but never over his ECW Championship. Christian and Van Dam talk about just what ECW represents, and how much the ECW Title means to them. You can get personal, with RVD saying that Christian was never in the original ECW -- he chose to be in the WWE -- and that RVD represents the old ECW and such. Whatever. Basically you have a match signed between the two for WrestleMania over the ECW Title.
Now, this would RVD sign a multi-match contract of some sort. I think they could get him to work a few dates over the next few months. They could have him appear every few weeks or so, and maybe even have RVD make a few comments about RVD being "too good" to appear full-time. Captain Charisma says that he wants to face RVD at WrestleMania, but he wants to prove that he does embody all facets of ECW, so he wants to make the match an Extreme Rules Match.
Anyway, at WrestleMania XXVI, the two have their match (which I think the fans would be REALLY into). RVD manages to keep his WrestleMania win streak going with what I think would be his fifth WrestleMania victory, and he becomes a two-time ECW Champion. RVD and Christian are good sports about it on ECW, but Christian obviously wants his rematch. RVD grants it to him, and eventually it becomes a Ladder Match -- to keep the extreme theme of their bouts going, and both men are well versed in Ladder Matches (I think they actually faced each other in a Ladder Match over the IC Title before).
The two could even steal the show at Backlash, and the result is a shady one, where both Christian and RVD are battling on top of a ladder, and both men decide to just make a grab at the belt. They both fall to the ground, and the belt is dropped, and Christian retrieves it first, and holds his arms up in victory, but there is obvious confusion about the result. We see several different replays from various angles, but no decision can be made. "No Chance" hits, and out comes the Chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment, Vince McMahon.
Mr. McMahon says that as far as he can tell, this match should be officially ruled a draw, and he says that since RVD was the defending ECW Champion, in the event of a draw, he retains the title. "One of a Kind" begins to play, but Christian grabs a microphone and interjects himself.
CHRISTIAN: This is ridiculous. Don't go anywhere, Vince. This is absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to let people know something right now, and that's that you've always had a problem with me. Despite me being one of your hardest working, most dedicated, well-liked and entertaining employees -- you don't consider me a big enough "star" for your company.
Christian sort of work-shoots Vince in the "heat of the moment," and calls Vince of being biased against him. Vince responds by asking Christian who the hell he thinks he is, etc. Christian eventually says that "he needs to do something to get Vince's attention." He slaps Vince across the face. Mr. McMahon looks back at Christian, furious, but receives a slap across the other cheek. Vince retorts by slapping Christian back. The former ECW Champion contemplates it for a bit, but then kicks Vince low, and hits the Chairman with The Killswitch. Christian grabs the mic and says something along the lines of:
CHRISTIAN: I am one of your biggest stars Vince, and you can expect to see me on RAW tomorrow.
The next night rolls around, and part-way through the show, a limousine pulls up. A driver gets out and lets Christian out of the back, and he makes his way towards the arena. Security approaches Christian, though, and they tell him that he's not welcome here. Christian begins arguing with them, and eventually Vince McMahon's music hits, and the Chairman is making his way to the ring with a microphone telling security to escort him to the ring. He wants to address this issue face-to-face.
Christian begins walking to the ring with the security accompanying him, and he comes out to no music (to keep up with the angle that he is not meant to be there, so they would not have music cued for him). He is taken to the ring, where Vince tells him something along the lines of the following:
VINCE: I've been slapped in the face before. I've had my ass handed to me by all kinds of Superstars here in the WWE. But never anyone like you. See, they were some of the biggest names in the history of the WWE. They made me a lot of money. You think I have some sort of personal grudge against you? Do you know how ridiculous that is? I love making money! The reason I don't think you're good enough is because you're not good enough. What? Do you really think you are a star? (Addressing the audience) Do you people really think he is a star?
The crowd hopefully starts cheering for Christian, and Vince can even sarcastically ask "Do you want Christian?" Hopefully leading to "We Want Christian!" chants. Vince continues, though:
VINCE: I should fire you right now on the spot. Or...I could buy your family a beautiful house. I could shower them with luxuries that you could never provide them with -- so they think more highly of me than they do you. Let's face it, you've made a lot of money working for me, but you're not as rich as me. I could turn your life upside down. Hell, maybe I should do both? CHRISTIAN! YOU'RE...FIRED!!!
Christian requests a microphone to speak. Vince hands him it to see if he has any last words. Christian says:
CHRISTIAN: If I'm fired, I might as well do this...
He then smacks Vince over the head with the microphone, and begins to pummel the Chairman. The security escorting Christian pulls him off, and then forces him to the back as Vince grabs a microphone and starts screaming, in a tone caught between fear and anger.
VINCE: Get him out of here! I never want to see him again!
In the back, Christian has calmed down a little, and on the walk back to the limo he has hired, he is greeted by applause from a lot of the faces on the RAW roster. He gets into the limo, and drives off into the sunset.
We get to ECW, and RVD addresses the situation, saying that he would have loved to have given Christian a rematch for the ECW Title, but now it can never happen. He doesn't know whether to blame Vince or Christian, but he has to move forward now. RVD can then do whatever they have left for him. Perhaps a quick feud with Zack Ryder, or something? Or they could use this as the trigger to change ECW into whatever they want it to be.
SmackDown! comes around, and Vince McMahon is there monitoring the situation between Theodore Long and Vickie Guerrero -- making note that Teddy is STILL on probation and what have you. He is approached backstage by Edge, who addresses the whole situation with Vince and Christian.
EDGE: Vince, Christian is my brother. I love him. He might have stepped out of a line a little bit, but he loves this business, and he wants nothing more than to be a WWE Superstar. You've forgiven people for worse. Please, let Christian come back to the WWE.
Vince denies Edge this, and says that his brother is a lost cause, or whatever. He tells Edge to go out there and have his match. Edge does, but afterwards grabs the mic and leads the crowd in a "We Want Christian!" chant.
Mr. McMahon is on RAW, perhaps to announce some big plans for Backlash, and hopefully the crowd has caught on, and starts chanting "We Want Christian!" Vince can allude to how he took out some garbage last week, to promote the fans' response. He doesn't address the issue directly, though, and things are left until SmackDown!. Edge, again, tells Vince that he should re-hire Christian, and Vince denies Edge again. The Rated-R Superstar comes to the ring that night with a custom "We Want Christian" shirt, however.
WWE.com can help play into this, by posting a statement saying "Jay Reso (Christian) has been released by the WWE. We wish him the best in his future endeavors" and by having a poll asking the WWE Universe if they want to see Christian back in the WWE. Hopefully it is a resounding "Yes." Vince could even chew out Joey Styles on RAW about this, which would be a nice nod, but isn't neccessary. WWE Superstars on all three brands start coming to the ring wearing Christian's old shirt and Edge's "We Want Christian" shirts. These would of course be faces like MVP, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Cryme Tyme, etc.
Eventually, a RAW Guest Host says they have listened to the fans, and he understands that they want Christian. He says that he has hooked up a satelite to Christian's home, or that they sent a WWE television crew to catch-up with him earlier (it doesn't really matter), and it will air tonight. This segment features Christian just being the usual smart-ass Christian we all know and love, and he makes a few wise-cracks before he addresses the issue, and says that all he has ever wanted to be is WWE Champion, and he honestly feels like Vince McMahon has gotten in the way of him doing that, and has crushed his dreams. The segment ends, and Vince chews out the RAW Guest Host for letting that crap air.
Vince eventually puts his foot down on an edition of RAW the next week or the week after, and cuts a promo where he says that Christian will not be mentioned on WWE television again. He says if anyone comes to the ring wearing a pro-Christian shirt, they will be suspended on the spot, and their future decided at a later date. SmackDown! rolls around, however, and Edge is still wearing his "We Want Christian" shirt. After he wins his match, Edge gets a steel chair and sits in the ring, and asks Vince to come out and do his worst. Vince McMahon makes his way out after Edge has won his match, and gets in the ring where he demands to know the meaning of this, and stating he is no exception to the rule. Before Vince can finish his spiel, however, Christian has jumped through the crowd behind Vince, with a steel chair in hand, wearing a "We Got Christian" shirt. Vince McMahon turns around to see Christian standing there. Vince has a "holy fuck" expression on his face, and then turns around to see Edge holding his steel chair. Con-chair-to to the Chairman of the WWE! Edge & Christian celebrate -- "We Want Christian," "We Got Christian."
This leads to Theodore Long eventually deciding to lash out against Vince McMahon's probation, and getting the WWE Board of Directors to sign off on a contract he has offered to Christian -- meaning he will return to the SmackDown! brand. Long says that he is going to give the fans want they want, and Team Charisma will get their Captain back. Vince is obviously pissed off about this, but the contract is inked, and Christian is back in the WWE.
From here, I don't know where you go. You can have Edge & Christian win the Unified WWE Tag Team Titles, or have Christian feud with a heel who isn't happy about the fuss around Christian (Chris Jericho comes to mind). You could also have Vince McMahon send up one of his boys (Drew McIntyre, for example) against Christian.
I dunno, it's just an idea. Sorry about the length.
