Anywho, just hope Bethesda hurries the fuck up and finishes and puts out TES Online so they can get to work on Fallout 4.

LOL, pfft that’s child’s play man. Just do one or two of The House Always Wins parts (it breaks up into VIII parts), and have high enough rep on The Strip, also absurdly easy, and then just hack a couple terminals, kill a couple bots, enter the ante-chamber, open the seal to his life support thing and kill his ass.
None of that negates the fact the he is a bad guy..

How is he a “bad guy”? Seriously, list things that make him a villain. He gets a bad rap for being a self-made guy who built the securitrons with his company H&H Tools, and he also saved what's known in the game as the strip from total destruction. He played nice with the NCR and let them have McCarran Airfield as a trade for getting a %age of the Hoover Dam’s power routed to power The Strip. He also founded RobCo Industries.
Plus, killing him, no matter what, always results in - karma, so he must not be a bad guy. A bit of a pragmatist, yes, but hardly a bad guy.

That's the thing about it, it's alot of "gray area".. I considered him a "bad guy" cause he was against the NCR and the BoS..
You can even make the argument that the NCR are "bad guys" STFU..

What happens when you allow them to take control of Primm??
Shadow
12-15-2012, 10:17 PM
.....they establish themselves as the law in Primm and then the game continues?
Kris P Lettus
12-15-2012, 10:22 PM
But the citizen of Primm dislike you and them for it.. Also, either the Boomers or the Followers of the Apocalypse dislike them..
Making the NCR "bad guys" to people who are considered "good guys"..
Why I said there's alot of gray area when labeling all the factions besides the Fiends and Ceasar's Legion and the Jackals...
Shadow

Not sure how that makes them the "bad guys" all the way. I mean the Legion is the fucking bad guys of the Wasteland this game around. Everyone else is just different levels of dicks. They're only out for themselves and when you get down to brass tacks, I'm totally find with this way of life. The Wasteland is a harsh and cruel place to live and if you're not looking out for yourself, you're fucked. The Courier is just one of a million dicks. The thing is, as the PC, he's also the one who holds all the damn cards. Not a single person in the Wasteland can do jack shit without the Courier there. Which is why I love the fact they've got an "Anarchy" ending. Wish Skyrim did the same thing.
Fuck the Stormcloaks and the Imperials and the FUCKING THALMOR!

Just to expand on what Damninator said. House was the one that stopped almost all the nukes from hitting the desert. Without him, there would nothing to fight over.

House was my favorite of the four factions you could side with. The NCR were dicks, the Legion were evil, and independent sucked.
Slowly working out achievements for this. Getting the damage with the weapon types takes a while.

But in the realm of Fallout, the NCR can be considered "bad guys". Not neccessarily brutal and trecharous, but greedy and domineering- kind of like The Alliance in Firefly. They've just been overshadowed by a larger and immediate threats in groups like the Enclave or the Legion.
It's sad, in a way, since they developed from such a tiny-ass farming town, then eventually grew into the closest thing to what used to be the U.S. that was before the bombs fell.
The point is that each side believes they are doing what is best for everyone else. They're not neccessarily bad, but just see things their own way. The Legion's way is pretty psychotic, what with all the crucifixions, and burnings, pillaging, and slavery, it's hard to be sympathetic to their way of thinking, but also based on a historically thriving civilization that lasted for quite a long time.

The NCR wouldn't be a bad option to pick if they weren't spread so excessively thin and organized so horribly.

Destroying the enclave was pretty hard until I decided to go back and booby trap their turrets before turning on them. Made it easier, but still kinda hard to kill all those NPCs. Felt bad about it after they helped me in Fallout 3.
I was really worried New Vegas was going to suck when I heard Obsidian made it, but I so wrong.

The only thing with New Vegas I've found is that when I leave it for awhile, I almost always start over because I lose track of where I was headed or what I was doing. I should probably just write stuff down.

Don't worry: that's a problem with pretty much all 4* Fallout games if you haven't played them in awhile. Made a little worse by DLC in 3 and New Vegas.
*Brotherhood of Steel and Tactics don't count.

Anyway, I went back to do some more exploring and I found The Thorn for the first time.. I did all the fetch 'em quests for Red Lucy and then we went to her room to bang.. It was pretty funny having Raul standing there watching and Rex barking the whole time.. I wish Raul would have commented though..
Especially since Red Lucy doesn't care about your gender. Raul seems like he would have some hilarious words for girl on girl action.
Cass too, actually, since she mentions (via perk dialogue) that while she's pretty much straight, if she's drunk enough, she doesn't care if its a guy or a girl she ends up in bed with. A liquored up 3-way should be an achievement. Or at least an easter egg.
If you can slaugher people and animals indescriminatly with massive ammounts of ordinance, you should be able to have an orgy once.

New Vegas got it right with the sides. You should be able to have the option to just say fuck it and take over. I wish Skyrim had the same with the Civil War going on. But that's another thread.

THANK YOU. What I’ve been trying to say all the fuck along! Plus, without House, no Tribes and no Strip = no casinos, no casinos = no making easy assloads of money by going to them all and playing the games with a 10 Luck rating in your character’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L.!!!

Well, there was the Caravan scam. Far and away the easiest way to make a boatload of caps in the Mojave Wasteland... until they patched it.

Cause the easiest way to make money is the Vicki and Vance chip swap..

All you had to do was get the inital caravan deck from the guy you save from/sell out to the Powder Gangers. After that, you head down to Primm, then the bar at the NCR outpost. If you've made it to Novac, that helped a lot, and here's why:
The people who play in those three spots are merchants, all of which had really stupid AI settings. The cap count bled over, which meant you could basically break them in Caravan, buy all their shit, then break them again. There was no limit on the number of times you could play them consecutively, and their stock/caps were replinished every 3 in-game days.
If you fast traveled between the three towns, it was close enough to the 3 day wait. Esentially, you built a perpetual loop of nearly unlimited caps and supplies. If you found the explotable way to get to the implants, and quite likely hit the Gun Runner's locale to do so, you could trade up to really good shit right away and pretty much get everything you want before even setting foot in any operating casino- it was really easy to win at Caravan. Seriously, I had to intentially take a dive for the "Know When To Fold 'Em" challenge. Finding more cards that suited my play style only made it simpler, and most of those were randomly in the shops that I was basically robbing blind without karma loss. The only real problem was that any new cards you got weren't automatically added to your deck. They sat in your inventory until you dropped them or hid them in something and picked them back up.
Then, they patched it. The card gathering works correctly now, however, everything else was traded off. The people who play have more distinct play styles and actually make smarter moves, and you can only play them so many times. They made the caps they gamble with and the caps for their sales inventory two separate things as well.

New Vegas definitely fixes quite a few things about Fallout 3. Not everything because well it's a Bethesda game but it does fix quite a bit.

Karma is still fucked, though. Also wasn’t nuts about another game in the NV/AZ/CA area. At least Fallout 3 was unique in that it was the only game in the series (that I know of) to be set in D.C.
Hopefully the rumors about Fallout 4 are correct and we’ll see that game set in and around a post-apocalyptic Boston.

As a person who never played the original Fallout 1 and 2, I liked 3. Yeah sure it was a first person shooter with RPG elements but it worked. New Vegas took that same formula and built off of it. Which is what a good sequel should do of course. And if 4 is set in the realm of Boston, more power to 'em. I just hope, oh god I'm hoping, we get more choices in character creation then just...human.

HAHA, don't feel bad man. I recently re-acquired a copy of the Ultimate Edition for old times sake and it did that shit to me last night while I was doing a REPCONN quest.
Laughing with you in commiseration, not at you in mockery.
But yeah, it seems to have some kind of gay problem where playing it too long (usually 10ish hours in one sitting or more) will cause it to hard freeze EVERY FUCKING THING, including your console, which means you have to eject the disc and power off, then back ON your console, pop in the disc again and wait the 7,000 fucking years it takes to get to the "Press START" screen.
im running the pc version
it freezes every time i try to use a terminal
and also randomly outside of that
read it's a common problem, but there are just too many possible reasons for this
