View Full Version : I can't help but appreciate Rey Mysterio

I am regaining my faith in the "Human Highlight Reel" Rey Mysterio as of late. He had the audacity to interrupt a rather lame mic thingy that HHH does after his DX entry. His matches with Jericho and Zig Zag have been a treat to watch. Can't say the same about his feud with Big Dave.

All I am saying is that Rey has come a long way and he gets my respect. After all he is one of the best in ring performers in the WWE at the moment and like I have said in the past, I wouldn't mind if he would win a major singles title (ECW title or equivalent).

I like Mysterio as well.

I like Rey Mysterio too but he should never be World/WWE Champion again.

If Sheamus can do it, Rey can do it.

If they book Rey as a champion the way they're booking him now and not the way they booked his last run, he'd be fine.

If they ever decide to make him Champion they should probably book him with guys he can actually work with rather getting squashed by the super heavyweights.

If I ran WWE, I would have HBK cost Taker his match against Mysterio at the Rumble and have Mysterio be champ again. (Also setting up Taker Vs HBK for mania) Mysterio is a master of innovative offense and would be a delight to watch as a world champ and I thought his first run was not THAT bad so I think he would rule this time too and it would be something new and actually exciting.

Rey Mysterio, the champ, losing to The Great Khali and Mark Henry cleanly in consecutive non title matches wasn't THAT bad?

Rey has been outstanding for the last 12 months, probably the most consistent in wrestling.

That would have made HBK look like he doesn't believe he can win the Rumble

The way they've been booking him since his fued with Batista heated up is the perfect way to go about building him up. His WHC run was booked like a fluke victory. As of today, he has beaten Batista, cleany I might add, on three different occasions and was being billed as somewhat of a threat against Taker.

I'm hoping they continue to do SOMETHING with him. His series against Ziggler and Jericho mid last year were great to watch, and his matched with Bats actually made me enjoy Batista.

Rey is the most exciting wrestler WWE has.

I've always loved Rey and don't understand people that don't. He was great in ECW, then WCW and he's great in WWE. I think he's carried Batista to some good matches this year.

Anything bad about his world title reign wasn't his fault. It was just booked appallingly.

Rey is awesome. I hope he wins a World Title some day. He deserves to win at least one.

I like watching Rey's matches, because he is very good (especially recently), but I've never been able to be a "true fan" of his. I am not sure what the whole reason is, but part of it is his inclusion in the main event scene.

I have never been able to take him as a credible guy at the top. Upper mid-card, yes, but being a booked as a legit contender for the belt? None for me, thanks.

Those videos say it all, Rey is a true artist. On a related note, anyone else tired of him still being referred to as the "ultimate underdog"? I feel that he's more then proven that size doesn't matter when it comes to wrestling.

Michael cole no sells rey too much. Continuing to call him the ultimate underdog and he has so much heart just makes him look weak.

I agree with your assessment. I believe Rey and Christan are probably the two most consistent guys in terms of in ring matches lately. I like most of the WWE's talent roster with some exceptions like Sheamus who I don't understand is still champion when somebody like Jack Swagger could be the one getting the rub. Sorry about the rant i just am very anti-Sheamus as I feel he's done nothing to earn the title and he doesn't impress me (well except for the Razor's Edge and his theme music haha).

Maybe I'm an asshole but when I hear someone say "I've never seen Malenko wrestle" I can't take them seriously as someone who acts like they are a "smart" fan. Maybe I'm just getting older :S

He's actually reasonably charismatic. He was just too small at the end of the day.

His gimmick was that he was a straight shooter, but check the stuff he did with Lita when he was with the radicalz it was pretty roflmao and he showed he didn't always have to be the bland straight shooter.

I love Dean Malenko. Honestly, while I also have only seen a selection of his pre-WWE work, I am a fan for life. The dude is just so fucking fluid in the ring. I would like to remind you all that Dean Malenko is still working for the WWE. The dude is still doing well for himself. I last saw him when he was breaking up a fight between John Morrison and Drew McIntyre.

But yes, Rey is a fantastic worker. His character is one that's annoying at times, and his World Title reign was horribly booked. With good booking (which is what he's had recently), Rey could very easily be a World Champion again. I'd like for him to get one good reign. Then, maybe we can talk about a third without feeling sick to our stomachs?

I don't mind Rey and I love watching him. However he has no place in the main event and it pisses me off when he is there.
