I just want to know if anyone on here always reads the Wrestling Columns on the main page of TPWW. Lately all those Columns just seem really negative and critical about the WWE. I don't know, but I hate always reading negative things all the time. What's up the that guy Hatin on Bradshaw's new Character? Anyway, vote on it.
I say Bring back the "Ticking Time Bomb." How about it Rob?
Edit: Crap, I messed up the poll. There was suppossed to be another choice which read, "Yes, I read the Columns some of the time." So if you always read them or read them some of the time, just choose "Yes"

Like I'm going to be any nicer to Bradshaw's character. It's a poor mans Ted DiBiase for Christ sake and it will bomb the minute everyone remembers how sh</>it a worker Bradshaw is.

You mean "The Big Gun" Fred Venturini? He's always been one of my favorite writers on this site since his debut. You've gotta read some of his older stuff to see what I mean. Very direct, low on fluff, quite enjoyable.
(By the way, if anyone can help me out here: who's the one old-school writer who went on to a bigger career at wrestleline.com (before it folded, anyway)? What was his name, and is he still writing for NFL.com?)

Oh God, I'm drawing a mad blank here. He was damn good though. They all were until they made the mistake of bringing me and others on board and then it went downhill quick time.

The columns are OK and all, it just seems everytime I read one it has an apology and explanation why they've been missing for the last few weeks/months and say they'll post columns more regulary from now on.

It's been like that for years. Can't get the staff these days.

I probably have, but I don't remember names. I remember Rob's Column well because he always had that kick ass banner of Canadian wrestlers up on top of his Column page. And he talked about Pillman a lot.

I'm with El Santo - I've liked Fred Venturini's since it debuted. And, after taking a break from watching wrestling, it was nice to come back to TPWW and see a column I still recognized.
The other columns though...meh. They're usually worth at least a skim-through, but because they only contain one person's opinions, the ideas are usually less deep than those in, say, a good thread in the wrestling forum. (Not that they're always easy to find.) I'd rather read a bunch of short reactions that make up a really good discussion than one long reaction that only expresses one view, and therefore tends to miss a lot of angles for analysis/thought.
But maybe I'm making too much of the question...in short, yes, I read the columns. :y:
Most of them are too long and negative.
Plus I don't have the time.

I haven't read since Rob, DS, and Downtown Dave had columns really. Most the new columnist haven't had regular or even semi-regular updates.

I stopped reading the colums about two years ago, when they stopped updating them, hell I didn't even know that the colums are back.

I didn't know you had even done one.
No, I meant when I applied.
I used to read every one back a couple years ago. Now I never read them.
The probably is that most columns just ended sucking ass. I look back at mine now and cringe but I know they were still 10 times better than anything else being posted here at the time. Some of the names floating about surprise me. Downtown Dave was awesome. Hell as much as I don't like the rat bastard, Jon Farrer was good too and Adam Kirk was the sh</>it. After they left, the standard dropped. Corey Silvia was good until he pissed off. "The Ref" has mental issues (I liked the guy personally though). Fred Venturini? I think he sucks too be honest and the only reason he kept posting was because TripleA couldn't be bothered to update his site and nobody else knew HTML.

I use to read them but not to much anymore...nothing interesting seems to go up.
Columns on TPWW or most wrestling sites die quickly just because columnists eventually either lose interest in wrestling, or spending alot of time writing columns and not getting paid for it. Rob's 100 % right tho after him, Downtown, and Kirk left, TPWW went downhill along with the fact that AAA stopped caring.
Actually to be fair, I thought it was going down about 3 weeks after I came in. Just took everyone ages to figure it out for some reason.

Seriously Rob, these are some of my all-time Fav Columns you did, Especially the Pillman one. I can't think of a better Column I enjoyed reading more than that one.

#13 and #16 won't even come up for me  What the hell are they? They are early so they probably sucked.
In a totally hetrosexual way, I loved Owen Hart so I liked writing about him but that one was decent I guess.
The shoot ones were fun to write though. It was blatantly an idea I have first and has since been posted all over the place (Wrestling Professor even admitted he stole my idea, gave me credit for it and practically everyone copied him). They weren't too bad though.
The best one I wrote was probably about Rob Van Dam or the last one on Missy's book.
Saw #16. There is a mistake in there I spotted instantly for some reason. Marty Jannetty wasn't the fake Taker lifted into the rafters at the Royal Rumble, He told me he wasn't anyways

13 is my favorite one. It's the Pillman one where you did a tribute to him. 16 is the one where you listed your top Bret Hart moments.

There was also the added caveat that columns during the WCW/WWF Monday Night Wars well a hell of a lot interesting than the (rather predictable) WWE rants you get nowadays. And this applies to wrestling columns from any site.

On a related note: who do I contact if I want to write a column for TPWW? I've been toying with the idea on and off again, with the idea sounding fairly appealing when I'm not busy and fairly repulsive when I am. :)

Hey, check it out. All of the sudden, TPWW.net has an influx of new columns. And even the dude who does the Creative Control column says he was inspired by this thread. I thinks thanks to Loose Cannon are in order. One man ... can ... make ... A DIFFERENCE!
