FROM THE FUCKING FRONT PAGE
In a radio interview with Boston’s Mix 104 this week, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shed some new light on his upcoming WWE return, which is expected to take place this summer.
When asked if he plans on wrestling a match, The Rock said:
“How I would come back is a different capacity than what Hulk Hogan did or I believe Ric Flair is doing. Those guys are coming back to actually wrestle. I don’t want to wrestle; I have no intention of wrestling a match.”
The Rock plans on having a major impact on WWE programming and could serve as a semi-permanent RAW Guest host for the entire summer:
“I do have intention of going back and hosting the show. Hosting a show like that would give me the opportunity to get on the microphone, rip open the writing, and invite guests on to come host with me. We wanted to create something cool and big and fun for the audience.”

If you're not going to wrestle, don't come back.

i was a bigger fan of Rock's mic work than his in-ring work so I am cool with this

I think he'd end up wrestling a match

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair aren't wrestling. Don't know what he's on about.

My thoughts to.

It's only a matter of time though

Flair, maybe. Isn't Hogan too feeble to do or take any moves nowadays?

Flairs aged abit since his last run, can't see him wrestling again.
They both just wrestled like 3 months ago in Australia.

Hogan beat Flair with brass knuckles because he couldn't do his Leg Drop.

His mic work is what set him apart so I wouldn't mind this at all. However, I reckon that, if not any official matches, we will see some Rock Bottoms and People's Elbow.
I still say he ends up wrestling one match. Especially if he stays till Summer Slam, where they could have a huge payoff match with whoever and increase the buyrate. They'd be stupid not to try and coax him into atleast one more match.

Rock needs to comeback to face HBK, that's all that needs to be said.

that sounds great. i'm actually a bit surprised he's willing to go out on a limb like this for WWE at this point in his acting career, good for him.

This is the truth. Beyond a match with HBK, I don't feel the need for Rock to wrestle. If he were a semi-permanent guest host in a GM role, that would be neat. However, the temptation to have one more match would be too great - they payoff too great - to refuse. At least I would hope so.
Perhaps if HBK tops Taker at Mania, then comes back late in the summer after his post-Mania off-time to challenge Rock to see who is the absolute best of all time? Something along those lines may work. A returning HBK could not be heel - The Rock would have a hard time being a heel guest host so fresh off a return. Who knows.
Basically, the possibilities for Rock are seemingly endless in today's WWE. However, for Rock to stay compelling and relevant will require him to work one more match. I don't think people will buy into Rock as a pure GM.

Rock v HBK just has classic written all over it, the two would work great together especially at wrestlemania, or one of the other big ppv's.

well since it will be in the summer I guess we could get HBK vs Rock at Summerslam

The Rock might still be filming a movie during the rest of the week while doing this Raw Guest Host thing (I think he is going back to action films now, but I'm not positive).
Anyway, if he's filming...that's the reason he won't be wrestling. One injury and the movie could be fucked. Pretty sure the producers could sue him for doing a dangerous activity off-set, even.

Depends on the contract with the studio. At any rate, yeah, if he's filming, he's not wrestling.

Rock's mic skills really helped put him over early in his career. His coming back who knows maybe he'll start a feud between superstars like Cena vs Mark Henry or MVP vs. HHH. If I was looking forward to a future feud it would be Kingston and DiBiase with both making a run for a title opportunity
