The show started with the announcement of the Undertaker facing Chris Jericho in a No DQ match and John Morrison vs. R-Truth will face each other later also. The matches will feature all of the elimination chamber participants facing each other randomly.

1. Rey Mysterio defeated C.M. Punk. The Straightedge Society beat on Rey afterwards.

An NXT commercial was shown and Drew McIntyre came out with a new theme.

2. Drew McIntyre vs. Kane ended in a double countout. Kane chokeslammed McIntyre and said that he wants the IC title.

3. Michelle McCool and Layla defeated Mickie James in a handicap match.

Edge vs. Batista is announced for next week…

4. Matt Hardy and The Great Khali defeated the Hart Dynasty. Matt scored the win with an rollup on Kidd. Maria came out with Matt as his Valentine and she got into a fight with Natalya after the match.

5. R-Truth vs. John Morrison ended in a no-contest because Morrison got injured. Truth and the referees helped Morrison in the back.

Edge came to the ring for commentary.

6. Chris Jericho defeated Undertaker in a No DQ match. Jericho picked up the win with the Codebreaker after Edge speared Taker.

Dark Match:

1. Undertaker defeated Batista a no DQ match for the World Heavyweight Championship. The match ended when the Straight Edge Society, Chris Jericho, Kane and Matt Hardy interfered.

I'm assuming Morrison's injury is a work to get HBK into the match? Not sure though...would suck if Morrison got the bump, but I gotta admit, Truth is more over than he is anyway..

If Jericho doesn't win the title at EC I'd like to see him partner up with Morrison and feud with ShowMiz. This could result in some classic matches & promos between the four former partners.

For the record, I'll agree with St. Jimmy and say that Batista will injure everyone and WM will just get cancelled.

I'd also like to see Vince force Teddy to trade Batista to Raw and HBK to Smackdown. Seems like a natural fit for storyline purposes.

Here's a more detailed report...

Smackdown:
Rey Mysterio defeated CM Punk. The match was very back and forward with Rey getting the advantage early on, only for Punk to get the momentum back toward the middle of the match. His Society tried to interfere on his behalf (they have been added to his Titantron along with the fans he has saved) but that backfired when Rey recognized and was able to roll Punk up.

The post match saw Gallows pummel Rey, Serena kick him like a football, and Punk directing traffic. Punk knelt down on one knee and had Gallows place him on his shoulders for the GTS. After hitting the GTS, Punk laid on the mat taunting Rey and the fans in Baton Rouge started a F*** you Punk chant (will need to edit that out).

Layla and McCool antagonize Mickie James about eating a piece of fruit. McCool suggests that she eats a plate of cottage cheese for the title to fit around her waist, but Layla suggested that Mickie just opts for the Mark Henry belt extender. A frustrated Mickie slapped the plate out of Michelle's hand and into Vickie Guerrero's face.

Mickie makes her way to the ring to go one on with Layla but before the match could get off to a good start, Vickie cut in with her "Excuse Me". Vickie made it a handicap match, and McCool who was not dressed to compete took her belt off her jeans and took her shoes off to fight barefoot. There was a blooper midway through the match when Layla broke up a pin fall with a kick as her tights fell off (think HHH mooning Vince when DX reunited in 06). She hurriedly pulled her pants up. McCool wins the match with a Faith Breaker.

Drew McIntyre comes out to new music and heat. He takes a mic and tells the audience that he doesn't care who his opponent is as he is the IC champ and undefeated. Kane's pyro hits and Drew tries to reason with Kane to push there match back to next week. The bell rings and Kane kicks him in the head. The two fight on the outside and ended up both getting counted out. After the match Drew tries to hit Kane with the IC title only to be chokeslammed. Kane takes the IC title, lays it on a lifeless McIntyre and ignites his pyro before heading to the back.

Matt Hardy and Khali defeated The Hart Dynasty. Matt was very over like always here, and before the match started he introduced his Valentine, Maria who came out to the biggest Diva pop of the night. Matt worker the majority of the match, and the finish came when Natalya tried to cheat. Maria Lou Thesz presses Natalya on the outside while Matt rolls up Kidd for the win. After the match Khali, Singh, Matt, and Maria pose together, and once up the ramp Matt and Maria stopped to do the old Hardy/V1 combo pose together.

The video package of Batista attacking Bret/Cena is shown and him walking out of his match with Punk. This was Batista's first appearance in Baton Rouge since his Evolution days. He walked out to a chorus of boos. Josh questioned his intentions, but quickly left the ring after Dave stared him down. Dave took the mic and walked around ringside to he met a Cena fan. The two exchanged words and the fan did the You Can't See Me gesture. Dave got back in the ring, threw the mic down, and flipped off the Cena fan. He made his way up the ramp to even more boos, and half way up he decided to turn around. He went back to the ring picked up the mic, acted like he was about to speak only to laugh and throw it back down.

Teddy announces Batista vs. Edge for next weeks show.

R-Truth made his way to the ring to an enormous pop to take on Morrison. He did a small change in his lines, ending his rap with Who Dat. Morrison entered to a mix of cheers and boos. The match was cut short when Morrison apparently sprained his ankle trying to leap over Truth. He rolled his right ankle pretty badly and had to be helped to the back by Truth, the ref, and the trainer.

Edge makes his way to the ring to a standing ovation, and started off by saying "Who dat that said he would win the Royal Rumble." He talks about the main benefit of winning the Rumble is that you avoid the Chamber match and said that it was possible that he could face Cena, Orton, Myterio, or the love child of Charles Manson and Brutus the Barber Beefcake (CM Punk) at WrestleMania 26. He then took the time to point out that while he is in the select group of guys who have main evented Mania and won, there is only one man who is undefeated.

Jericho's music hits
to interrupt him. Jericho said that Edge didn't mention him as a possible match up because he was afraid of what he would do to him and that he knows he is Edge's bad luck charm. He talks about Edge crying about his injury and making his triumphant return, only to say that he himself will never know what that feels like since he doesn't get hurt.

Taker's gong sounds as he and Jericho are set to face off in a No DQ main event. Taker's reaction was deafening as it was the first time he has come to Baton rouge in his Deadman persona and his first match period since his Big Evil days. Edge did commentary for the match. The finish came when Jericho went to the outside and got into an argument with Edge onlt for Taker to come from behind and attempt to throw Jericho over the table and on top of Edge. Edge moved at the last minute and he and Taker had a stare off before Taker threw Jericho back in the ring. Edge let his guard down and it resulted in Taker giving him a boot to the head. Back in the ring, Taker hit the Last Ride on Jericho, but before he could pin him Edge hit him with a Spear. Taker sat up as Edge was making his way up the ramp. Taker went over to collect Jericho's carcass only to be hit with the Code Breaker and be pinned. Jericho wins as the fans boo and exit the River Center.

That sucks if it is not a work. However, I can now see a way for HBK to get into the Chamber.

LOL, yeah I saw that in there too. There will definitely be some very careful, heavy editing of this week's tapings as there was that, the crowd chanting "F*** YOU, PUNK!" (pretty awesome, really, too bad that most likely will NOT be left in...) and Batista flipping off a Cena fan...hmm...sounds like my response to almost anything pro-Cena...the most they'll probably do with that is blur or pixelate it or do a camera-cut while it's happening or some shit.

But yeah, sounds like a great show...if I lived down there, I'd say it was well worth the price of admission for those folks.

The detailed description sounds good. The crowd sounds real hot, which is something we don't see anymore. The spot where Gallows sets Rey on Pink's shoulders for the GTS sounds awesome.

I agree the Morrison "injury" could be a way to bump him off the card and insert HBK. I'd also prefer the trade of HBK for Batista.

Either way, once again, I look forward to SmackDown!.

What? How was he "shit on"? He lost via a roll up. It's not like Rey won in convincing fashion. Not to mention, when it was all said and done, he was standing over Mysterio and not the other way around. He doesn't have to will all the time to be booked strong.

I think the best booking for Rey Mysterio vs. CM Punk would have been for Rey to win via DQ when the SES threw caution to the win and decided to soften up Mysterio rather than beat him. This would have also caused more personal tension between Punk and Mysterio in time for Mania. But I'm sure we are getting a fantastic match between Punk and Rey, in which both men will look tremendous.

looks to me they might be going for Taker - Edge at WM. Which will inevitably mean Edge going heel again when he gets booed.

I can Edge beating Taker though.

Watching the show now, Punk was again far from shit on. Serena getting in on the beatdown was great.

And Drew McIntyre's new music may just be my favorite theme now. Fits the character perfectly, IMO. Kane at least being given direction with a possible feud for the IC title is great to see, too.

With the way SmackDown consistently puts thought into their midcard and how they build the show, I can't wait for Jack Swagger to be drafted there.

Knew it about Punk. I have to DVR the show but when, since moving to SD!, has Punk been utterly shit on? They've booked him perfectly.

I agree, Swagger on SD! would do him wonders. He could actually be allowed to develop. His character has hit a wall on Raw.

Sheamus' theme is quiet awesome. I like the long opening of the song. Great way to build heat for an over heel. make the fans wait to boo. Awesome.

Yeah, it seems like an angle to get Morrison bumped. That they didn't finish the match is sort of a give-away. Seems likely that Shawn Michaels will enter the match, and probably cause The Undertaker to get eliminated. Vickie Guerrero will probably be responsible for letting HBK into the match. Shawn gets pinned by someone (hopefully Chris Jericho), and instead of taking it out on Jericho, does so for on The Undertaker, allowing Jericho to get the final pin over him. If that's the case, I hope John Morrison announces his inability to compete at the PPV, and gets punked out by Show-Miz. Morrison finding a tag team partner to do battle with them could be tremendous. The Miz & Big Show vs. John Morrison & R-Truth for the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania?

That would be a good way to set up Jericho/Edge at WM and HBK/Taker. Of course, if HBK/Taker happens, you'd think it would have to be the headlining match no? So that wouldn't work with Edge's Rumble victory.

Noid, if your scenario plays out what are your thoughts on some type of 4 Way match headlining at WM? Some things Edge said on commentary and obviously the way the match ended kind of gave me the feeling WWE could be heading that way. That or maybe it's Edge taking Morrison's spot at EC and not HBK?

Whatever the case, WWE actually has me interested in multiple storylines at once and that hasn't happened for quite a while. They might make me buy 2 PPV's in a row...so I have no complaints. :D

HBK vs. Taker vs. Jericho vs. Edge might just make me take a road trip to Arizona for WM.

That match was fantastic and I'd like to see them do more work. The GTS seen as "crucifixion" was amazing.

As far as Drew's new theme: In general I like the song but it almost seems too slow/soft for a wrestling entrance. But that's just me

Yeah, exactly. Doesn't suit Drew at all, imo, even if it is a good song. There's just not enough energy for it to be his entrance theme.

I hope what happened last night is either.

A) Setting up Face Vs Face Vs Heel feud with Taker, Edge and Jericho for the title (Edge stays as a face)
B)Setting up Face Vs Face, Taker Vs Edge feud.

Because if they are turning Edge heel again, they might as well fire him for all I care. Imagining Edge as heel again makes me want to go to the bathroom and VOMIT because Im so sick of his stupid heel character. Him as a face has been GOLD so far and I hope they are just teasing heat between him and Taker and Edge doesnt actually turn heel.

Edge Vs Jericho would be a way better mania match that Edge Vs Taker too. Edge Vs Taker Vs Jericho would be gold 2.

The Punk "crucifixion" scene was fucking fantastic. One of the best parts of the show. This is an example of what WWE should be doing more of to make the "PG" program more edgy.

I thought the same thing about Drew's theme. It's really slow and not like the rest of the roster's, but I think he can somehow grow into it and make it part of his persona. They seem to have a lot of faith in him and he is generating a lot of heel heat. Maybe he should yell at the fans while coming to the ring?
