What would you say are the biggest matches in WWE histroy in terms the build, their profile and place in history that weren't for any titles?

Hogan/Rock is the first that comes to mind for me.

Yeah, trying to think of one that tops Hogan/Rock but can't think of one.

Hogan/Rock was my first thought, too. Maybe Hogan/McMahon? Didn't WrestleMania XIX make a shit-load of money? That probably warrants mentioning. Vince McMahon vs. Bret Hart could be right up there, too.

Vince/Shane vs. HBK/God.

:shifty:

One of the bigger ones that comes to me is Austin vs. Triple H at Survivor Series 2000. Was Austin's big return match, and was pretty hyped if I remember correctly.

I think that's also the match where where Austin clamped a chair on Trip's leg and got up on the turnbuckle as if he would jump down and crush it, then feigned a change of heart and took it off....and then clamped it onto his head instead, and JR just started screaming, "BAH GAWD AUSTIN YOU'LL REGRET IT FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!".

Also Undertaker vs. Triple H at 'Mania 17 maybe.

I think most of the HBK non-title 'Mania matches since his return could qualify for this as well, perhaps barring his street fight with Vince.

Hogan versus Andre at Wrestlemania 4...... It was kind of for the title as it was a tournament match, but it was still built as Andre's rematch

The result was less than stellar but I thought the buildup to Brock Lesnar VS. Goldberg was decent.

The build up for Lesnar/Goldberg was decent if the match was between Lesnar and Austin.

Ric Flair versus The Undertaker at WrestleMania X8

I will agree with that amlost just soley based on the moment when Arn Anderson came out and spinebustered the Undertaker.

I thought the Bret/Owen match at Mania that year was pretty damn big, especially at the time. It gave Owen the spotlight, the clean win, and solidified him as a legit threat. They never ran with that in terms of a main event run that could've been, but at the time, Owen beating Bret seemed massive.

Flair v Taker remains to be one of my favorite Mania matches ever. Outside of Arn hitting the spinebuster out of nowhere, I just love the entire match.

Rock/Hogan has the be the biggest though. Nothing at this point will top that, imo. Maybe Austin/Hogan had a good chance, but we will never know.

Yeah, that spinebuster came out of nowhere.

I especially remember this match for the incredible height of the Undertaker and Flair got when they pulled off the top rope superplex.

I didn't care much at all for the build up on rock vs hogan, thought it was packaged with a lot of unnecassery angles such as the truck vs ambulance.
Same goes if there ever would have been an austin vs hogan match, the guy's individual history speaks for itself.
That's just me anyway.

He did injure RVD and "killed" a legend, no? If not, what match of RVD's would qualify?

Rock vs Hogan, easily.

If you disagree, then you weren't there.
