I thought Cincy really showed up today. They played well and seemed to get their offense going a bit. I thought Eli could have made some better throws on a selective handful of plays, but there were also 2-3 key drops where the pass was right in the bread basket. I'm not really worried about their performance as I think the farther the season goes on the more infrequent these issues will be.

Crimson 09-21-2008 06:25 PM

Good day of football today ..and my Cowboys have yet to play. Raiders defense looked sick ..if they can get any type of consistent offense look out.

Suck it bandwagon fans!

Whew. Fucking nail bitter over in Denver. Won that by pure luck.

But it's been a long time since I saw a INT rock a team. When Cutler threw that, the wheels came right off.

Hats off to your crew Krispy. I thought the Saints were over and done before halftime. But they went tooth and nail to the end.

Last 10 minutes, the our offensive line finally stepped up and gave Edwards some time. And he fucking murdered oakland with it.

Sloppy playing by the bills in the first 3 quarters, but they played just well enough to stay in it, and finally came alive in the 4th.

Fuck yeah man, great game.

FUnny story. I have season tix for the bills, and also have a season pass to park on some guys lawn near the stadium. There was a dude there dressed like the Ultimate Warrior of the Bills. He was pretty damn funny.

This is craziness them not playing Deuce.. Brees and Reggie are amazing but we sucked on short yardage.. Without Deuce (and Stecker who actually was on the injury report today) we have ZERO inside running game.. So many blown opportunities.. Wish Usama Young and Randell Gay hurt this was the first time this season out CBs were getting burnt, when they had Jason "TOAST" David in there.. Tracy Porter is gonna be a beast..

I was proud.. I mean, they clawed their way back in the second quarter and even after giving up a turnover for a TD, not getting in the endzone to finish the first half, and missing two FGs, we only lost by 2 to one of the best teams in the NFL ATM..

:-\

We just really need an inside running game.. Our offense would prolly be the best in the NFL if we just had that between the tackles threat, who has been standing on the sidelines since week three of last year..

:nono:

#1-norm-fan 09-22-2008 12:32 PM

I didn't feel good the entire game against Green Bay for some reason. I'm sure Barber not fumbling and winning it 31-9 would have probably made it better but we should have blown them out by a bit more. Just didn't feel as dominant as it should have. A wins a win though.

Kris P Lettus 09-22-2008 12:37 PM

WTF??

Green Bay has one of the best defenses in the NFL.. Also, Rodgers has been pretty stellar all season and has pretty much quieted all doubters..

Why do you think the Cowboys would dominate them more than yall did??

Ninti the Mad 09-22-2008 04:57 PM

I thought that last Barber fumble was kinda weird.

I thought he was down and the play was dead.

(ribs prolly still hurting - he lose the ball two other times but recovered by him and by some other guy who then ran another 5 - 10 yards)

I dont really count that last TD by GB though. The Cowboys knew that GB needed to score 3 TD's to win so they just backed off and played to burn clock.

But, yeah, our rushing pwnd GB.

BARBER / JONES > Your RB duos

Ninti the Mad 09-22-2008 04:58 PM

Imagine how horrible Dallas played and still won by an impressive margin against a good defense.

FearedSanctity 09-22-2008 05:21 PM

Denver also doesn't seem to be able to have a good offense and defense at the same time. That past few years the defense was great, but the offense kinda sucked. And before that the offense was awesome, defense was pretty inconsistent. '05-'06 had both at a good level. But now the differences are extreme, the offense is incredible and the defense is fucking terrible

AL HARRIS COULD BE DONE FOR SEASON
Posted by Michael David Smith on September 22, 2008, 4:21 p.m. EDT
Green Bay Packers cornerback Al Harris has started every game since the Packers acquired him in a trade prior to the 2003 season, but that streak appears close to ending.

Harris, who had to leave Sunday night’s game against the Cowboys with an undisclosed injury, may have a ruptured spleen. He is reportedly getting a second opinion, but the injury could end his season.

Harris suffered the injury in the first quarter when he ran into Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after the game that doctors held him out because there was blood in his urine.

If Harris is out, Tramon Williams would likely move into the starting lineup opposite Charles Woodson.

------------------------------------------------

wow ruptured spleen...

Kris P Lettus 09-22-2008 07:48 PM

Skippord 09-22-2008 08:52 PM

The Broncos defense saddens me

Kris P Lettus 09-22-2008 08:55 PM

The lack of Offensive Pass Interference call on Brandon Marshall when they called Jason David fro DPI in the forth AND the no call on third and one when y'all clearly had someone lined up in the neutral zone, during the forth quarter both saddened me..

Mort just reported about the latter on ESPN saying Payton is pissed..

Kris P Lettus 09-22-2008 09:04 PM

Also in the first quarter during one of the first drive, y'all's left tackle had a huge handful of Will Smith's facemask while they were running off that side..

Also one of y'all's WR held the shit out of someone and Joe Buck and Aikman were saying how selfless it was that a WR makes those kind of blocks.. It was clear as day on the replay and they kept going on how great of a block it was..

WTF

Payton about the non-call:

Quote:

What happened on the 3rd-and-1 play?

“That’s on me. It was a goal line defense and I should’ve taken a timeout. The clock had gone down and we have a package where we can out of a play and into another play and the clock was running down; Drew was doing a good job of trying to use the time to our advantage. The play-design all of a sudden becomes problematic in that there’s an extra guy on the back side. I thought that at the point of attack we blocked it well, Pierre did as good a job as he could have done and they were in a front that really made it tough for us to run the play.

“The thing that’s disappointing for me on that play was that earlier in the game we got called for a neutral zone infraction on Jo-Lonn Dunbar, and I’m watching the game today on the coaches’ tape and on that 3rd-and-1, their linebacker to the point of attack looked to be in the neutral zone. I went back and I looked at the TV copy and he’s a yard-and-a-half in the neutral zone on our side of the line of scrimmage. That’s a hard pill for me to swallow on a critical play like that. Now it had no bearing on the outcome of the play in regards to the result but when something like that happens, it’s not a judgment call. It’s clearly a call that’s right in front of you as a line judge and you make it or you don’t make it. Usually when it’s close, the play goes on but my problem was that it wasn’t close. My problem was that this player not only was in the neutral zone but his whole head is across the line of scrimmage and past the ball before the ball is ever snapped and no call was made. I have a hard time swallowing that because obviously all these plays are important, but from a consistency standpoint, that same penalty was called against us earlier in the game. I can understand some judgment calls – ones that maybe could go either way – but when something like that isn’t called and it’s a neutral zone infraction, it’s discouraging.

“But we had plenty of opportunities. I didn’t want to get up here and start complaining about a lack of call. The play wasn’t a good play versus that front and I don’t think who the running back was would have mattered because there was guy coming free. That one’s on me.”

Could that have been a big play if not for the man coming free?

“It’s a big play, it’s a big gain the way it’s blocked. The problem is in a gaps defense there is one extra guy and Zach Strief was doing his job to handle the down lineman and then there was one extra. To battle that you get into tighter formation and bring a receiver in tight to handle that extra guy, but those are all things that are hindsight. I think at the point of attack it was blocked extremely well considering there was a guy a yard offsides on defense.”

ClockShot 09-22-2008 10:37 PM

Kiffin watch is now in effect.

Bill Ford Jr. came out and said that if he was in control, he would have fired Matt Millen.

The Colts will win the Superbowl. I'm calling it now. They will win the Superbowl. It sucks to say this, but all we have to do is get into the playoffs. Then all bets are off. Are defense sucks. Its not because we dont Bob Sanders either. I'm sorry, but Bob Sanders wont make us tackle better...or does he? Hrmmmmmmmmmmmmm

But i dunno. I was so sick watching that Jacksonville game. The Mathis pick was clearly pass interference. I got a new rule. If you see Tony Dungy screaming at a referee, reguardless if you even saw the play or not, that ref was wrong.

I just hate the idea that we might not win the division. Believe it or not, winning the division, to me, is very important. I hate losing to division teams.

Oh well, atleast we didnt get beat by a college offense. But we sure as hell played like a college defense.

Absolutely hate this line of thinking..

As I've said before, as a team, leaving the game in your kickers hands is bad news in any game.. I mean, how is it anymore his fault for missing than the entire offense, for not scoring another TD or getting that last first down?? Or the defense for not stopping the Broncos?? Or Payton's fault for not calling a kick to end the first half?? Etc, etc..

Win as a team, lose as a team..

Mr. Monday Morning 09-23-2008 02:17 PM

He's also not gonna cut Gramatica after one bad game.. Specially when we pretty much wasted a draft pick on a kicker who was good, but later cut him in favor of keeping Gramatica..

Kickers are by far the most interchangable position in the league. I would've thought you would understand how a kicker can cost you after putting up with Mare.

In other news The Saints lose another starter for several games..

Quote:

Jamar Nesbit of the New Orleans Saints has been suspended without pay for the team's next four games for violating the NFL Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances. Nesbit's suspension begins immediately. He is eligible to return to the Saints' active roster on Monday, October 20 following the team's October 19 game against the Carolina Panthers. I don't think they are easily interchangeable. A solid, dependable kicker is close to one of the most important positions on the team.

Few teams will have playoff success without a great kicker. If a team doesn't have a tried and tested kicker its bound to cause problems.

How long is Favre planning on staying in New York? Part of me thinks we might be better right now if we'd stuck with Chad. I dunno, it's just not there. The offense hasn't shown any sign of 'clicking' at all yet :-/

Cooler Tom Schuler 09-24-2008 07:20 PM

3 games under a new system is hardly enough to pass judgment.

Team Sheep 09-24-2008 07:32 PM

That's the point. We might only have Brett for like a year, so what's the point spending that just for him to get used to the offense? 3 games in and it's not looking good. Might already be too late.

I'm just saying I find all but about 5 or so kickers in the league to be "iffy". They can shine one week, and then suck the next.

And you'd have to define "solid" but I can tell you know that there have been and currently are teams in the league that are very good but don't have a clutch kicker.

Hanso Amore 09-24-2008 11:05 PM

I agree that there are few elite kickers, and only a few dependable. They just happen to be on the best teams (perhaps that is what makes them....the best)

U-Warrior 09-24-2008 11:10 PM

Ryan Lindell is pretty fucking good tbh.

Gonzo 09-25-2008 12:10 AM

I don't think a kicker has to be "elite" to also be considered dependable. Alls I'm saying is that if you have problems at the kicker position it proves to be a huge issue eventually. Always does, always will.

I don't think there is a single kicker in the NFL, that can't at least be described as "dependable".

They are all dependable, or else they wouldn't be there. It's just some are more dependable than others.
