I agree with Thrilla, this is pretty dirt.

But Matt Hardy owning a giraffe is pretty sick.

Mr. Nerfect 09-19-2016 05:11 AM

I could actually get behind the gimmick if it weren't for the Delete or Decay stuff. I actually buy Matt and Jeff Hardy as insane artists who want to reinvent themselves and are kind of trapped in their own fantasy land. It's just a shame when they try to drag us literally into it.

It's like Hogan looking into the mirror and seeing Warrior.

Mr. Nerfect 09-19-2016 05:12 AM

Oh, and Matt Hardy calling New Japan "The New Wrestling" and ROH "The Honorable Wrestling" is mildly funny.

So you just don't like who they are feuding with? Personally I think Decay is the best team that the Broken Hardys could feud with. Just the best thing in wrestling this year in my opinion.

That's the first President of the United States you're talking about, show some respect.

No, no, no, sorry -- I mean that whole style of presentation. The backyard hokey stuff.

Evil Vito 09-20-2016 09:23 AM

I still view all the Hardy stuff as "so shit that's it's good". Their segments are the only stuff in TNA I actively seek out because I want to see how much more batshit insane they can get.

Simple Fan 09-20-2016 12:18 PM

Pretty sure that's how it's supposed to be viewed. It's real campy and funny as hell.

mike adamle 09-20-2016 01:05 PM

Can't believe there's people that can't find any entertainment value in these Hardy segments, but to each their own I suppose.

Matt Hardy picking on the one guy in wrestling that looks more out of shape than he does? Targets are running thing for The Broken One.

It's from 2014. He had a feud with Steen in ROH (and it was pretty hilarious).

Also, not the only target he could use if needed...

Hardy, who has creative control in TNA, has been one of pro-wrestling’s biggest stars in the past year and one of the most unique characters for his Broken Matt Hardy angle. It’s unclear how WWE would utilize Hardy if he did return to company but one has to speculate that WWE would also want to ramp up their efforts to bring back Jeff Hardy as well.

Simple Fan 09-23-2016 12:15 PM

Broken Matt Hardy in WWE would probably suck. They did nothing with the Dudley's and I wouldn't expect anything better for the Hardy's. If they let him do what he wanted I think it would fit their PG TV though. Hasn't done anything non PG really unless biting people isn't PG.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 05:25 PM

The gimmick would be exposed so fast.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 05:26 PM

The money is in a short Hardys run as a tag team, then Jeff Hardy doing something on his own. Matt Hardy can move down the card and be a decent enough enhancement act on the lower-end of the roster, since people will care about him due to his history.

How exactly would it be exposed? Who would expose it. Personally I believe the WWE Universe would eat it up. Already small DELETE chants on WWE shows. Like I mentioned earlier he keeps it kayfabe with his Twitter and guest appearances so I don't think he would be exposed in that way. I dont really want to see it as I'd rather he keep creative control of the character but I have no doubt WWE fans would love it.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 06:49 PM

It exposes itself. Fans might cheer it for a week or two, but then they realize it's hipster shit and lose interest when they realize the shtick is really shallow.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 06:50 PM

He'd do backstage segments where he crashes interviews and everyone just rolls their eyes at him and walk away. It'd be lame. It's already old in TNA.

Simple Fan 09-23-2016 07:09 PM

Hipster shit? Yeah I'm not listening to you anymore, you clearly haven't seen enough of the him if you think he's hipster shit.

When was the last time you actually watched TNA? How would you know what is old and what is not? Stop trying to pick apart what you haven't watched in over a year. You look dumb.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 07:13 PM

I watched the Delete or Decay segment because it was posted here.

Exactly, so how do you know if its getting old? Fans in the Impact Zone are still going along with it and have embraced it even more since Jeff has joined him.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 08:24 PM

The fans in the Impact Zone don't even pay to get into the shows...

You can tell it's getting old because the ratings aren't consistently higher and people aren't sticking with it. 411,000 people watched it. Cool. How many people came back the next week? The week after? Hey, he's doing another one -- maybe more people will watch? Nope, less. Alright. People watched the freak show once, and some people will see it again because they're late hearing the word, but do you really think this is really connecting with anyone but the mutants already watching Impact? Honest question.

A quick YouTube search informs me that Final Deletion has been watched 437,848 times. Shinsuke Nakamura's entrance theme (keep in mind he hasn't even wrestled on the main roster yet) has been downloaded over 10x that amount.

I'm glad you can enjoy it, but please stop acting as if this even appeals to a fraction of *wrestling fans* let alone the average person.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 08:31 PM

Matt Hardy can get himself talked about -- I'll give him that much. He knows how to throw shit at the wall. Unfortunately he's not as great at making it stick. He doesn't seem to understand the difference between good attention and bad attention. He's the kid making weird noises in class and throwing bricks through the window. This is the sort of stuff that Vince Russo said would help WCW in 1999.

When his contract expires next year, I doubt he will be worth as much as he is even now. Given the pace at which TNA moves, because they never hit pay-dirt and are constantly looking for it, and given how fickle fans are -- Matt Hardy will have completely changed again in the next 10 months. He'll be "Surge the Revolutionator" or something from his OMEGA bag of "shouldn't have been" gimmicks, or he'll be plain old Matt Hardy again. Or he'll be Fixed Matt Hardy. Or he'll be Matt Hardy with Lime. His currency won't be the same though, and it'll be interesting to see if the WWE wants him then, or if they just try to get Jeff and push him for the merchandise.

It wouldn't surprise me if "No More Words" hits one day, and Matt and Jeff Hardy both come out, doing their hand signals, and they just do their through the motions Hardy Boyz style stuff and go after the Tag Titles though, and "Broken Matt Hardy" becomes a vague "Hey, do you remember that?" talking point.

Simple Fan 09-23-2016 08:37 PM

Comparing WWE to TNA is silly. I never said he was the most seen wrestler of 2016. I gave my opinion on how I thought the Broken Matt Hardy character would do in WWE after Broken Hasney posted that article. Given that platform though I have no doubt that Broken Matt Hardy would be able to win over the WWE Universe.

Mr. Nerfect 09-23-2016 08:39 PM

This is all reminding me of when Giant Haystacks joined The Dungeon of Doom as "Loch Ness" for some reason. That actually spiked a rating for Nitro back in early 1996. A 2.9 jumped to a 3.7. But Arn Anderson also defeated Hulk Hogan, so maybe that was the reason.

Matt Hardy is already over on his WWE laurels. He wouldn't *need* to win over the WWE Universe. I don't get why he'd need to come in and do this shitty gimmick in the first place...

It'd be like John Cena coming out as "Dave the Fisherman" next week. Maybe it'd get over because Cena is over and we'd be ranting about how good Dave the Fisherman is, but I don't see why you would do that.

Simple Fan 09-23-2016 08:48 PM

I agree he could come in a just Matt Hardy but why not let him be this extreme character rather than normal like everyone else. I don't know what to say about your John Cena/Dave the Fisherman thing.

Mr. Nerfect 09-24-2016 02:54 AM

Because it's terrible.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-24-2016 04:17 AM

Obviously he wouldn't start with the gimmick, but considering he's done V1, Big Money Matt and now Broken, he's had more popular gimmicks than most people in WWE. He could do something else, or introduce that character through, *gasp* storytelling. Hell, you could even have him come in as broken straight away and say that's how he became after Mr Meekmahhhn fired him all those years ago.

Lol at him being exposed though when you've got people like Dean "I'm so crazy but not really I just do this shitty clothesline" Ambrose right at the top of the card. Shifty gimmicks don't matter if you can talk yourself out of them, and Matt certainly can.

I lolled at this.....

I will say though, somewhat unrelated, I have shared a locker room with Hero multiple times and I've actually gotten to do a wrestling seminar hosted by him..... He's not "as bad as he looks" in these pics. The guy is pretty tall, roughly same height as everyone's favorite Titan (maybe an inch or so taller) and I can't think of a match I've seen him in where I've seen him "looking exhausted". I think if he got a "higher waistband" ala Joe, Rusev, Mojo Rawley, etc nobody would really say he looks out of shape.

I think the most convincing thing you said in there was that there are plenty of shifty gimmicks already near the top of WWE. That's actually a fair point. I still don't think Broken Matt would work in WWE. It's a "no one is really watching this" ironic gimmick that works in a backyard fed.

The attire he chooses to wear doesn't help him. That's a good suggestion you made, but I don't think Hero gives two fucks because he's tremendous.

Yea, ironically enough I was having a conversation last night about this kinda topic (I was wearing a singlet, while two 300+ lb guys were wearing trunks)

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/6OtwElAEwRQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I think that if Hero had alittle more "flattering" trunks (kind of how Joe has), I don't think people would mention his physique as much as they do....

It works in the same way Lucha Underground works. If you don't judge Lucha Underground super seriously like you judge the most basic, pure Cornette form of wrestling and instead just look at it as a form of entertainment that happens to revolve around wrestling it's fine.

Same with this. I don't judge by serious wrestling standards. I judge it as stand-alone entertainment. And as stand-alone entertainment it's ridiculous in the best possible way. It's basically Matt Hardy saying "if wrestling/sports entertainment can't be taken seriously in 2016, then why not go the complete opposite direction and milk some entertainment out of the absurdity of it?"

Mr. Nerfect 09-25-2016 08:54 PM

I get the way Lucha Underground works. Weirdly, it doesn't bother me as much. I don't love LU by any stretch, but it sets its own rules. TNA is somewhere in between, where you have this absurd stuff and then have Bobby Lashley on the same show. The changing in tone could give a fella whiplash.

#BROKEN Hasney 09-26-2016 01:42 AM

I could see why that would be a problem. I don't watch the rest of TNA so I don't get that.

Mr. Nerfect 09-26-2016 07:39 AM

You're still probably one of the biggest fans they have, Broken One.

Simple Fan 09-26-2016 11:29 AM

Its not a problem for me. I like that they have characters that are not all the same. Gives the show a different feel every segment. I can see why someone wouldn't like that though.
