Sometimes too much freedom isn’t always a good thing.

Emperor Smeat 11-09-2019 11:33 PM

Ref probably regrets not sweeping away a bit of that broken glass from the ring.

Evil Vito 11-09-2019 11:34 PM

This is nuts. Not necessarily in a good way either.

But also kind of in a good way.

Emperor Smeat 11-09-2019 11:35 PM

Nice of Moxley to help take apart the ring for the ring crew.

Mr. Nerfect 11-09-2019 11:35 PM

They’ve also sent the message they are more proud of this than the belt.

Emperor Smeat 11-09-2019 11:37 PM

Holy shit at Omega going face first into the ring boards

Jordan 11-09-2019 11:38 PM

That was pure insanity.

You fucking knob. Do you think it'd be possible to follow up this retardedly violent match? Get a grip.

Evil Vito 11-09-2019 11:41 PM

Cody/Jericho MOTN for sure. That was a masterclass in storytelling.

Emperor Smeat 11-09-2019 11:42 PM

Moxley vs Omega was amazing and freaking brutal. The broken glass stuff is the only thing I would have taken out since that was way worse to watch than the thumbtack spots last time.

Full Gear was also very good overall.

xrodmuc316 11-09-2019 11:43 PM

Of the official PPV, it was kind of average compared to the others.

But that unsanctioned match, holy fucking shit. That alone was worth $50

:lol::lol::lol:

For me we had two five star matches back to back and they were totally different. Amazing Lights Out match. I loved it. Kenny Omega is once in a life time and Mox is a real psychopath. I can't wait to see him go against Jimmy Havoc.

Evil Vito 11-09-2019 11:43 PM

I'm good with never seeing a match like that main event ever again.

Triple A 11-09-2019 11:46 PM

Crazy shit...

Evil Vito 11-09-2019 11:47 PM

I will say I do appreciate the storytelling of the ending of the main - Kenny going for one of Kota Ibushi's moves and that being the reason he lost.

I'd be surprised if AEW does more than 2-3 of those type of matches per year going forward. Moxley vs. Omega made Moxley vs. Janela look tame by comparisons and also way too dangerous to try to top in terms of brutality.

Could be what the classic Hell in a Cell used to be for blood feuds in terms of status before WWE started overdoing them.

Jordan 11-09-2019 11:49 PM

Image what Mox will do when he goes Lights Out with Jimmy Havoc.

So, while death matches are not for me (but I also couldn't turn away from it) I will say that Moxley and Omega will have EVERYONE in wrestling talking about their match....so it's a big win for AEW!

My favorite match of the night goes to Cody vs Jericho as well!

Ol Dirty Dastard 11-09-2019 11:59 PM

the main issue with matches like that is it makes everyone else look like wimps in comparison.

However, I appreciate the idea of backing up the "Mox is too fucking crazy to be sanctioned" by proving why he's too crazy to be sanctioned. Could maybe have done it less gratuitously but it's legit.

As such, if you insist on doing matches like this, keep it around once every few years lol

Simple Fan 11-10-2019 12:06 AM

Had bad experience during beginning of the show but cought all the World title matches.

Didn't like the MJF turn. They had the perfect chance to have Cody turn on him instead Cody looks like a dumbass. It still works but have been way better the other way around.

Triple A 11-10-2019 12:22 AM

Thinking back at how amazing the Cody vs. Jericho match and MJF stuff was...

MJF going to finally be a mega top heel also... looking forward to that...

wrong thread...oh well, who cares

Blue Demon 11-10-2019 12:27 AM

Went to a buddy's place to watch this and thought it was great. I hope AEW keeps up the momentum. Some stuff bugs me in terms of finishes (towel throw, small package on the TV taping)

Simple Fan 11-10-2019 12:36 AM

I mean if Cody would have went ballistic on MJF after that match it would have blown the roof off the place. They were already chanting "you fucked up", had Cody just super kicked him then they'd had a great segment.

Droford 11-10-2019 01:24 AM

The only problem I had with the lights out match was the lights never went out

Just something in the back of my mind: I wonder if some sort of twist happens that we don't see coming in the future to make us start using the term "Cody finish"

Hopefully this "makes AEW cave" and sanction his matches so that he *can't* take it that far in anything Lights Out anymore. And agreed, keep it occasional and not ramp it up to bi-weekly.

The went to red like the Fiend was wrestling

Droford 11-10-2019 04:00 AM

I totally missed that it was Jericho's birthday

Mr. Nerfect 11-10-2019 06:56 AM

The fan that threw water at MJF was apparently an indy wrestler named Alan Angels. AEW are faking their own heat.

Evil Vito 11-10-2019 08:36 AM

MJF draws more heat than anybody in the company, but fans have been conditioned to not throw shit anymore. Same reason nobody rushes the ring anymore either. It’s a guaranteed ejection and very possibly an arrest.

It was always going to be a plant. But it did it’s job of making a nice visual.

Jordan 11-10-2019 09:07 AM

I figured it was a plant. Too perfect. Either way, fantastic moment to choreograph.

A lot of over reaction to the Lights Out match. I grew up a a WWF/WCW fan, when some older kid at school told me about ECW and and how they use barbed wire bats, blood and fire I was memorized by the idea and sought it out. That lead me to FMW, Big Japan, Wing, and IWA. I certainly got over the fad soon enough, but there is something morbidly appealing about the DEATH MATCH style. Once I had hit the rounds in Japan, then there was XPW and CZW. I had a lot more access to seeing XPW than CZW unfortunately. I never cared much for death matches in America. The way CZW turned them into real sicko affairs just never appealed to me.

With that said... this match really appealed to that part of me as a kid who had a blood lust for this shit. I think this was one of the safest and more impressive looking death styles matches I've seen. Easily the best match involving sicko props like barbed wire and glass that I can remember.

Jordan 11-10-2019 09:11 AM

On Cody and MJF.

Cody mentioned of a pre show press conference that AEW would be added another championship within a month or so. He didn't want to claim it as a mid card championship. But instead another goal for other workers. With Cody not able to compete for the AEW World Championship, I can see him creating a division that he can compete in. Possibly a AEW Television Championship. I could see the finals of a tournament coming to Cody and MJF. Cody could win and tote this new belt around to make it mean something while Jericho goes on his long reign. Eventually Cody will take AEW Championship, but perhaps down the line like a year, year and a half or longer. Make it a super long burn. The pop for him winning the championship after a long burn story would be insane. People could be in tears.
