Tim Thomas is really having a "down" year with the Bruins so far. Either he's been making silly mistakes or not as sharp as last season although to be fair last year was his best season and still plenty of games left to get better.
He's not Manny Fernandez bad which is good (something like 8 Goals Allowed per game at one point). |

ESPN is saying Thomas starts Monday vs Flyers but also noted that another "bad" game or two and he could end up loosing the starter's role and be put in as the 2nd goalie in a back-to-back set of games.

The whole team is being too inconsistent than they should be for the talent they have. Might be related to how last season "spoiled" them with a #1 seed in the East and low expectations unlike this year with higher expectations and the injuries being bad to start the season. Not going to be upset though since they still have the 5th seed unlike earlier in the season when they were in the 11th/12th range in the East. |
I think losing Kessel was a major blow to the team, they seem to not have that "Holy fuck, we are playing the bruins, fuck" type of deal going on this year.
Last year there was Lucic - Savard - Kessel, that was a scary combo, now its Sturm - Savard - Ryder and that isnt nearly as imposing, plus they got rid of Chara - Wideman which worked out well. LA Kings on the other hand, got their shit together. |
Yeah Kings are the real "shock" team so far compared to previous years of usually being in last place or near last place. Might actually benefit the Sharks more since no more slagging off thinking they are the best in the season and then fall apart in the playoffs.

I am pretty disappointed with Montreal this year, Its one of those on paper - great, on ice - terrible teams.
Plus, Prices inconsistantcy is brutal. I mean one night 53/55 and the next 11/15. I dont know to even suggest to fix the team to be honest. |

Latest rumors indicate that Lecavlier might be getting traded out of Tampa. The likeliest locations are Montreal, New York Rangers, and Los Angeles. LA has a lot of cap space and so they are a good candidate. Kopitar and Lecavlier as a one-two punch at center could be f'cking dangerous.

So far Northeast division in the East currently has 4 teams in "playoff" spots with Toronto being the only team not in the top 8 for the division. I remember a few years ago when the division managed to have all 5 teams in the top 8 until late into the season.
