I'm not sure why. I just smell Triple Threat. I feel Rock losing the belt at EC to Punk, or keeping it in controversial fashion, and then there be a Triple Threat at Mania.

I think Thriple Threat is the back up plan depending on Taker. If he's good to go, we'll get Taker/Punk, if not we get Rock/Cena/Punk.

If Punk wins the title back at EC to set up a WrestleMania match it would be a ridiculously shitty way to build to WrestleMania. Punk could be going into WrestleMania at like 500 days as WWE champion. Longest reigning champ of the modern era. And they screw it up by having him lose the title for 3 weeks and win it back just before the big WM match?

Sounds like a possibility. I think they'd really wanna do a 1 on 1 match.

I'm still holding out hope that we aren't gonna get that HHH-Lesnar rematch and instead it's HHH vs Punk. I kinda don't want Punk in the title match mainly because I'm not a fan of triple threat main events. Punk would just take away some of the "big time" feeling of the big Cena-Rock rematch.

How many weeks would the WWE realistically need to build up Taker vs Punk for Mania so it doesn't come off as a random "last minute" type feud?

If its 4 weeks, then Taker's status needs to be figured out within the next 2 weeks for it to occur.

They need to start the Undertaker build to Mania either at the PPV or the next night on Raw if he's going to be ready.

I mean, I understand your point, I just really think it boils down to "who really cares?" and I don't mean that in a negative way.

Like, you say "500 days" which is a great accomplishment in the business of wrestling, but I'm just thinking maybe thats not what they're trying to do or accomplish. They gave him the belt for 434 days, I think winning it back in a really heel way is a great way to get some heat; we've already seen that in Punks mind he never lost it. From a business perspective he had a long reign and added legitimacy to the title, The Rock winning the title puts a lot more eyes on the product, and if Punk indeed does win it back in some type of heel fashion, that's just one more "X-Time WWE Champion" that we can add to that, if someone were to care about a "statline" of sorts.

I mean, I guess I'm just not as critical of the booking, simply because accolades in a scripted sport are kind of perceived differently, by me at least. I just want the story to unfold in a way thats entertaining. We'll see tho.

Punk should continue to count the days he's been champ ignoring the rock winning should he win the belt. But he won't

Punk losing it and winning it back 3 weeks later, however it may happen isn't as good of a story though as the big moment at WrestleMania where Cena or Rock end Punk's streak.

Yeah, they're accolades in a scripted sport but they're still incredibly meaningful within the realm of the story. The Undertaker hasn't REALLY accomplished anything by being 20-0 at WrestleMania. Within the story though, it's HUGELY important.

I didn't mind Punk's reign ending at the Rumble. If he just wins it back though at EC, it's a waste of a better story.
