A death of a player inside the stadium doesn't qualify?

#1-norm-fan 12-01-2012 11:04 PM

Well technically he killed himself in the parking lot of the practice facility.

#1-norm-fan 12-01-2012 11:07 PM

The Bengals didn't delay the game the week Chris Henry died. The Redskins didn't delay the game the week Sean Taylor died. It's a tough situation as far as "do you or don't you play the game" but if they went ahead with those two, I'm not sure where you draw the line.

DrA 12-01-2012 11:11 PM

There are a lot of people who have players from both teams on their fantasy football teams, so it wouldn't be too practical to cancel the game.

Skippord 12-01-2012 11:18 PM

the Chiefs apparently wanted to play the game so I'd imagine that has an effect on whether or not they cancel it

SlickyTrickyDamon 12-01-2012 11:27 PM

Also the team's coach and VP saw the suicide. That's gotta be good enough reason to post-pone the game.

FearedSanctity 12-02-2012 12:03 AM

Yeah, unless....

I'm calling bs on the fact that the incident wasn't enough to cancel the game not that the Chiefs wanted to play.

FearedSanctity 12-02-2012 12:33 AM

But how would it not be up to the team? They're the ones most directly affected (league wise, I mean) and if they decide the game should go on, why shouldn't it? What reason could the league give for canceling/postponing? The team will just contradict them if they say they did it for their sake. And they're not gonna cancel it for the memory of a guy who killed his girlfriend just before himself. Pretty big PR backlash if that were the case

Emperor Smeat 12-02-2012 12:40 AM

Only way they'd cancel the game is if either he shot up a few players or it was done during the pre-game stuff since a crowd would be there.

From all the reports so far, only Crennel and Pioli saw the actual suicide but from a distance and not actually looking at his face when he did it (back was turned to them). Both were said to be ok emotional-wise to continue with Sunday's game and probably felt the game itself would help the players with coping of the loss.

Triple Naitch 12-02-2012 12:46 AM

The only time I can think of a game being cancelled after a player died was Darryl Kile.

#1-norm-fan 12-02-2012 01:00 AM

I remember the first game the Redskins played after Sean Taylor died. The first defensive play, they lined up only 10 defensive players as a tribute to Sean Taylor.

... The offense exploited it for a big gain.

I felt a little bad for laughing out loud but... come on... lol

Gonzo 12-02-2012 01:21 AM

Kind of 'lol' but stuff like that speaks volumes.

lollllll. Wasn't as bad as I remembered it...in fact I thought they threw a pass towards that area of the field cause there was some outrage online/people thinking they should have given up a play or something. Still was a stoppable run.

Evil Vito 12-02-2012 01:47 AM

Also, searching for that play brought up a video of the hilarious play from the last time the Giants and Redskins met on Monday Night Football.

I thought I remembered it being a pass to that side of the field too.

screech 12-02-2012 03:17 AM

D Mac 12-02-2012 07:43 AM

This is utterly stunning. I'm at a loss for words...

Kris P Lettus 12-02-2012 02:06 PM

Emperor Smeat 12-02-2012 02:27 PM

Gostkowski shanked that one badly.

Triple A 12-02-2012 02:37 PM

Evil Vito 12-02-2012 02:39 PM

Evil Vito 12-02-2012 02:58 PM

Triple A 12-02-2012 02:59 PM

Triple A 12-02-2012 03:02 PM

DaveWadding 12-02-2012 03:02 PM

Triple A 12-02-2012 03:03 PM

DaveWadding 12-02-2012 03:26 PM

holy fuck, the Cardinals scored.

RoXer 12-02-2012 03:31 PM

points!

#1-norm-fan 12-02-2012 03:34 PM

lol within the 10, Leshoure can just weave into the endzone at any time from any distance within that space. Outside of the 10 he pretty much hits the line and goes down. He's an enigma.
