Firing managers is maybe the most overrated and insignificant change a pro baseball team can make. It's always gonna come down to the players. Bringing in somebody other than Mattingly is going to be of miniscule impact. But alas.

Wonder who they replace him with.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-22-2015 01:27 PM

Wonder where he will end up.

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-22-2015 01:33 PM

Maybe Boston could bring him on as starting dh

Worked for the Red Sox after they got rid of Valentine ... well maybe for a single season so far.

Dusty.

Frank Drebin 10-22-2015 08:18 PM

Or Kim Ng

Damian Rey 10-22-2015 08:29 PM

Lol. Whoever it is will likely have to be very much like Maddon and Hurdle, taking input and guidance from a very well informed, analytical based front office. Can't imagine too many veteran managers are gonna wanna be told what and how to things from guys who've "never done it".

Frank Drebin 10-22-2015 09:36 PM

Serious post this time - You're correct. Andrew Friedman will pick a guy that fits that description. My only question is that, unlike the Theo/Cubs situation, he already has a stocked roster with vets and millionaire players. While they have fat they could trim, they aren't in a rebuild phase, right? Normally I would say he's going to find a bench coach ready to step up (Mike Maddux, Dave Martinez, Sandy Alomar, the usual names that come up), but it seems like alot for a first time manager. Gardenhire? Sciosia?

Frank Drebin 10-22-2015 09:46 PM

Realized Dylan Bundy is going to be out of options. I feel old.

Damian Rey 10-22-2015 10:57 PM

Scioscia isn't going anywhere. He thinks he's a genius and that front office with a dense, stubborn, dinosaur of a manager won't fit.

Yeah. It was coming sooner or later. All that star power and money and the Dodgers get bounced in the divisional series. Something had to change.

They did actually end up buying a championship. Just for the Red Sox in 2013.

The fact he last pitched for the Os in 2012 is sad.

Droford 10-23-2015 09:08 PM

That guy would be getting shit on if they ruled he interfired and took away the hr

Emperor Smeat 10-23-2015 10:32 PM

 Jays player wondering why the out call wasn't made at first base. Royals batter might have had a chance to reach 2nd base if he didn't point to where the ball actually was.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-23-2015 10:50 PM

Bautistabomb!!!!!!!!!

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-23-2015 10:50 PM

Madson walks alone....

Bad News Gertner 10-23-2015 11:02 PM

Joey friggen Bats.

BigDaddyCool 10-23-2015 11:56 PM

Royals games don't start until the 8th inning.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-24-2015 12:06 AM

Drop a bunt son.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-24-2015 12:06 AM

Too late with 2 strikes.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-24-2015 12:08 AM

Irrelevant now. Wow.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-24-2015 12:14 AM

wow ump get your eyes examined once its out of the royals ass.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-24-2015 12:16 AM

Revere should have given the ump shit for that. It's the World Series on the line.

road doggy dogg 10-24-2015 12:20 AM

Jays had a chance to win that one. Man on third with no out and you can't get him in. Unbelievable.

BigDaddyCool 10-24-2015 12:22 AM

Ol Dirty Dastard 10-24-2015 12:24 AM

Can't take anything away from the Royals being killer, but I will not understand the 2-1 call on Rever. It may as well have been a pitch out. He got jobbed.

Evil Vito 10-24-2015 12:30 AM

Well...the Royals bullpen actually looked somewhat human tonight with Madson giving up the game-tying bomb and Davis very nearly blowing it (admittedly with a 1 hour layoff between pitches, but still).

Problem is that doesn't happen very often. Mets will need to stick to the script of the NLCS and pounce on the starters early. I want no part of that Royals bullpen while trailing.

Evil Vito 10-24-2015 12:32 AM

Waiting to see how the Mets line up their rotation and who gets Game 1. deGrom has been their ace all season, Harvey would be the most in line for regular rest, and Syndergaard probably has the best pure stuff out of all of them. There really isn't a wrong choice in there. So glad those guys are going to get to pitch on the biggest stage there is.

Should be a really fun series. Hopefully my Mets can pull it out but if they don't there's no shame, the Royals are a complete team.

We're coming for you.

RaginRonic 10-24-2015 12:44 AM

Goes to show that MLB, the NBA, and NHL don't want any team coming from Canada to make the playoffs, unless it's to be the prison bitch of the U.S. franchises.

To the fans of the Mets and Royals, you can take all the MLB trophies and shove them up all your asses.

Nice to know that the changes the 3 leagues above made to keep the Canadian teams getting weak, stupid players pays off for the corporate profits of the U.S. franchises, and leaving teams like the Jays, and Toronto's sports bars, in financial debt.

To me, the 2015 MLB season is over, with the Commissioner's Trophy vacated.

Bad News Gertner 10-24-2015 12:52 AM

Lol there is no way that guy is a real person

zeeboe-esque levels of tryhard

Bad News Gertner 10-24-2015 12:56 AM

Lol Ronic is one of my favourite posters. We need a Gary Bettman rant from him.

RaginRonic 10-24-2015 01:02 AM

I want Canada's 2-decade long+ pro sports title drought in the NHL, NBA, and MLB to end, no matter nothing, and to me, if it means using the tactics of 'beatin' and cheatin', so be it.

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-24-2015 02:19 AM

I think the CFL should have an invasion angle and have an American team win it. That would be i-ronic wouldn't it?
