lol I mean... I dunno there's always a need to read the room?

There's certain friends who are going to be more touchy and you just respect their feelings and don't push the boundaries. Then there's other friends where you can be ruthless to and if people who didn't know you walked in they'd think about calling the police.

Can honestly say I've never run into an issue where I've "hurt" someone in that way. Except like ten years ago when I was dating a half black/half white girl and I sincerely HAD NO IDEA the M word was racist.

I think that its really more about the content than the person on the receiving end. It aint that deep for them to HAVE to make the joke, so they just kinda don't do it. Which I respect and appreciate. And it's arrogant to say its all about me; they might legit not feel comfortable making those comments for themselves.

And you've probably never run into an issue where you've "hurt" someone because theres still tact aka a limit to the things you're going to say to a person, friend or not.

which word? Mullatto? Mutt?

It's like that episode of Seinfeld when Jerry was making all those Native American jokes with noooooo chill in front of a woman who was Native American and he had no idea lmaooo.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-12-2018 02:00 PM

Mullatto. :nono: Honestly, we just threw it around in High School. had no idea it was offensive in any way.

I don't think I've ever said that word out loud in my life. And it's not from a place of "Oh its so bad I can't say it" I've just never been in a situation where it would be said or thought of. And I have a few bi-racial cousins.

in fairness to you there are a few things I said in high school that I'd never even think to say now. Maybe because I'm black and am not gonna tell someone else "cmon now thats not offensive" because I've been told that before.

the main thing I won't say on this website is "Eli Drake" because Noid would destroy me.

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-12-2018 03:07 PM

there was an episode of curb your enthusiasm where larry had the same problem. Saw it like 8 years after the fact. Felt validated. lol.

LibSuperstar 05-12-2018 03:09 PM

Anybody read WWE 50 or WWE Legends?

My parents grew up in Appartheid South Africa. As Jews it wasn't exactly easy for them either. (dunno why but feel the need to qualify that lol)

The derogatory term there for the natives and mixed folks is "kafir" and not the n-word. So they grew up and they were these liquorice balls called "N-word-balls". They didn't realize what they were saying until they moved to North America.

Very good show at seeing situations that I relate with

Fignuts 05-12-2018 03:24 PM

Never even heard of mullatto

Jordan 05-12-2018 05:01 PM

I just don’t care much for ROH. I used to like going to the shows back in the Dabilsron era but every time I try to watch I can’t connect.

They're pretty bad now. They're pretty much what TNA used to be- WWE lite. The booking is terrible. And they saturate their shows with New Japan and Bullet Club but don't present interesting matches with them because their own roster is so shallow. For example on one of these War of the Worlds shows Tetsuya Naito is facing Beer City Bruiser. Does anyone have interest in that?

ROH seem to be growing pretty well, but it's not something I have interest in anymore. I just don't...care. Everything seems really sterile. There's probably nothing offensively bad, but nothing jumps out as something I'd actually want to see either.

I appreciate your sensitivity putting it into quotation marks, but I am not offended by you using the term, Shadrick. My rage is directed towards Eli Drake, and only Eli Drake.

Same. Nigel's run was the last time I cared about it felt like the promotion meant something.

Nigel's run might be the greatest title reign from any promotion of the 2000's. Either him or Okada right now.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2018 07:13 PM

I really loved Nigel McGuinness in the ring. Dude felt like he wanted to kill people, and that he was a pro at doing it.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2018 07:15 PM

You know what sucked? When TNA did that poll to get a contender for the TNA Title, and Desmond Wolfe won, and they had him lose.

Emperor Smeat 05-12-2018 07:58 PM

ROH's problem besides Sinclair refusing to expand their budget is that their head booker, Delirious, has been really terrible going back years.

Every bright spot they've had in recent years either doesn't get capitalized or becomes ruined quickly afterwards.

For example, the partnership with NJPW has been very beneficial to them but they've haven't really built off of it with their stars. At this point, ROH would be in a lot worse shape if NJPW were to bail since NJPW gets a lot less benefits sticking with them than before.

Then you have the handling of the Women of Honor tournament which was mind-boggling dumb. Not only did Delirious make sure his girlfriend had a spot and had a big warmup win over Stardom's top star but also had the winner be someone who before was mostly a jobber or low tier female star for the company. Been rumored Stardom isn't as fond of working with ROH now as they were prior to the tournament.

Heard smells like teen spirit hundreds of times.

Never understand what the fuck he's saying though.

Bad News Gertner 05-12-2018 09:28 PM

The bloom fell off the Dalton Castle rose quite quick.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2018 10:22 PM

I had to look up whether or not he was still the champion. With Jericho working with New Japan, I was kind of hoping that they would talk Sinclair into paying Jericho a lot of money to come in and work with Castle as a homophobic heel citing his religious beliefs as reasons to hate Castle, lol. I know it wouldn't fly, but god that would be good heel shtick.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2018 10:24 PM

At this point a WWE/ROH relationship probably works best for them. Trade talent and try and keep things rotated and fresh. Dolph Ziggler & Drew McIntyre could head over for a tag team run; The Briscoes can come into NXT for a stint, etc. I dunno, just spit-balling. I don't really care about ROH, and I'm ready for Jay Lethal and The Briscoes to move somewhere else.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2018 10:29 PM

Apparently Cody had a real stinker with Hiromu Takahashi at ROH War of the Worlds. Apparently the mascots were the most over thing and Cody lost the crowd.

Might be hard for The Briscoes considering WWE pulled an offer in the past due to some homophobic comments they made. Don't think The Briscoes ever apologized for it or changed their views on the topic.

Mr. Nerfect 05-12-2018 10:50 PM

I'm pretty sure AJ Styles was a homophobe too.

Emperor Smeat 05-12-2018 11:46 PM

Doubt he ever publicly threatened to legit beat up someone over it like one of The Briscoes did to teachers and others. Making things worse was it happened right as WWE was close to finishing the paperwork on a contract for the team.

With Styles, people usually point to some insults he made in promos or the joke involving him being really popular with the gay community as the basis for his homophobia.

Mr. Nerfect 05-13-2018 12:36 AM

I'm sure I've read something about AJ Styles blatantly saying that he does not want gay people teaching his kids. Like the Jay Briscoe stuff, just without the threat of the violence.

WWE went to Saudi Arabia, so they could have at least used The Briscoes as babyfaces on that show.

It’s great but I’m reluctant to “get behind it” as I’m just waiting for them to do something dumb to fuck it up.

You're once again spewing fake news about something. It was only Jay Briscoe who was in trouble for "homophobic comments." And he wasn't signing to WWE when he made the comments, he was ROH World champion.

As for AJ Styles, he had this match against Bryan Danielson at ROH Main Event Spectacles. A lot of people point to this match when they're grappling on the ground and you just hear AJ Styles yell "come on faggot!"

I can see the reluctance but Rollins is a beast in the ring. As far as the WWE is concerned, he is up there with Styles and Bryan.

On a side note, am I in the minority if I feel that both of Styles' WWE Championship reigns have been underwhelming?

#1-norm-fan 05-13-2018 11:16 AM

Keep him as an IC title workhorse and not the star of the show and he'll be fine.

Shadrick 05-13-2018 12:00 PM

I think I would enjoy Rollins as the star of the show. If they book it right.

nvm.

Ruien 05-13-2018 12:40 PM

Rollins should be the face of the WWE.
