THEY WANT WRESTLE!

Juan 03-20-2013 01:54 PM

Is that supposed to be John Morrison behind Zack Ryder?

XL 03-20-2013 02:46 PM

I think so, yeah.

Juan 03-20-2013 04:05 PM

I was just reading Harvey Wippleman's wikipedia page for some reason and read that he was in the car with Joey Marella the night of his accident. Crazy

Divas match at WrestleMania....

Quote:

In discussion is an Eight Diva Tag Team match featuring “Extra” host Maria Menounos, according to F4WOnline.

The report states that Maria will compete alongside Divas Champion Kaitlyn and the Funkadactyls, Cameron and Naomi. They will face the team of Brie and Nikki Bella, Layla and Tamina Snuka.

Layla teaming with the heels would seem to confirm the rumors that she is turning heel, having been getting under Kaitlyn’s skin on SmackDown in recent weeks.

This rumored match would mark Maria’s fourth in-ring appearance, her latest being a victorious effort at last year’s Wrestlemania, teaming with Kelly Kelly against Beth Phoenix and Eve Torres.

Let the Maria Menounos WrestleMania streak... BEGIN!

Emperor Smeat 03-20-2013 06:39 PM

The rumored original plan was for it to be a 10-divas type match although most past Divas ended up rejecting the offer. Same for when it came to TNA having their taped Knockouts PPV.

Quote:

PWInsider is reporting there was originally scheduled to be a 10-woman Divas tag match at WrestleMania pitting current Divas against former Divas with Trish Stratus managing one of the teams.

The original planned match was Kelly Kelly, The Bella Twins, Maryse, and Maria taking on Kaitlyn, Layla, Natalya, Tamina Snuka, and Alicia Fox. It wasn't decided which team Stratus would have managed.

The plans were nixed when a few of the former Divas wanted the ability to continue using their WWE names whenever their new deals would expire and WWE was obviously having none of that.

The Bella Twins ended up returning anyways, but it seems as if talks with Kelly Kelly, Maryse, and Maria have ended for now.

WM30: Maria Menounos vs UnderTaker, Streak vs Streak.

Nicky Fives 03-20-2013 08:23 PM

Tag Team Turmoil should open the card, with the winners immediately facing the champions.... make it the new "Wrestlemania thing" since Money In The Bank has its own PPV....

#1-norm-fan 03-20-2013 08:25 PM

Tag title match is already set.

Cool King 03-20-2013 08:36 PM

Going by how the Henry/Ryback match was made on Monday, Vickie could easily come out next week and say "Nah, let's have a Tag Team Turmoil instead".

I just assumed the last guy beat Zack Ryder in an untelevised match where not only the Internet Championship was on the line, but the added stip of losing his ring gear was added.

There are rumors that Kofi Kingston might be turning heel. I've always wanted to see a pissed-off heel Kofi, but I'm not sure if now is the right time. R-Truth challenging Antonio Cesaro for the US Title is pretty much the perfect excuse to turn Kofi heel. Perhaps Truth can beat Kofi in a surprise match ordered by Brad Maddox to decide who will face Cesaro on the WrestleMania pre-show. Truth and Kofi shake hands after the match, but after Cesaro beats Truth on the pre-show, Kofi turns on Truth and beats him around the ringside area.

Mr. Nerfect 03-21-2013 06:27 AM

As far as Barrett vs. Miz for the IC Title at WrestleMania goes, I actually think it would make the match more interesting (believe it or not), if Brad Maddox signed David Otunga on to be the Special Guest Referee. The idea will be that the WWE's three current movie stars would be involved in the same match. Barrett and Miz would both object, as the commentators speculate that there is something fishy going on. Otunga would play all "Mr. Nice Guy" heading into the event, claiming that he "respects the Intercontinental Championship far too much to make anything other than a fair call."

From this, The Miz can be suspicious that Nexus is getting back together, and Barrett can talk about how much he hates and distrusts Otunga. Nothing about Barrett vs. The Miz currently feels "WrestleMania," so I think this would at least add some intrigue into the match.

Tommy Gunn 03-21-2013 08:44 AM

With Damien Sandow and Antonio Cesaro around, there's no room for a Kofi heel push, he needs to get in line!

Mr. Nerfect 03-21-2013 09:48 AM

I would rather a babyface push for Kofi. He and Jack Swagger could have a pretty amazing feud. I'd also like to see Swagger feud with Christian, though.

Corporate CockSnogger 03-21-2013 09:59 AM

Kofi's so bad. Probably the most boring person on the roster outside of a spotfest match.

Mr. Nerfect 03-21-2013 10:10 AM

Kofi Kingston during his feud with Randy Orton was not boring. He showed fire in his feud with The Miz, too. He needs to show fire. Kofi really needs to get put on the shelf by some heel, sell his beatings for a few weeks, then come back all fired up and refreshed for a feud with them. Jack Swagger would be perfect for this. Swagger can beat up Kofi on the RAW after Mania, disgusted with himself being beaten by Alberto Del Rio. He breaks Kofi's ankle with the Patriot Lock or something. R-Truth runs down for the save and chases off Swagger. Swagger and Truth eventually wrestle and Swagger wins that match, but then Kofi returns and kicks Swagger's ass around the ringside area.

Cool King 03-21-2013 10:45 AM

I have to agree with Iginfest.

I find Kofi to be pretty boring at times, though the rumours of him turning heel is both surprising and interesting.

Surprising because I always thought the the WWE were making Kofi to be today's Ricky Steamboat, in which he'll always be a face. The talk of a heel Kofi is interesting but I just can't imagine him as a heel. When I do, he sucks and is somewhat laughable.

I think the only time I've every really been into Kofi was during his feud with Orton. I get the feeling that Kofi is kind of stuck where he is now. If he turns heel, it won't work but if he remains as a face, he'll always be the boring smiley man that only ever really becomes interesting in spotfest matches. :-\

Nicky Fives 03-21-2013 10:56 AM

I have not been a fan of Kofi since a few weeks after his debut and the novelty of his leaping ability wore off..... never resonated with me.... the guy has great matches, but he's still missing something for me....

Skippord 03-21-2013 11:15 AM

Kofi is the best, fuck you guys.

Shadrick 03-21-2013 11:33 AM

I also love Kofi.

CSL 03-21-2013 11:38 AM

Kofi's excellent, he's just been stuck in a rut for the last god knows how long/is a "safe hand", whether it be not getting the chance (he certainly showed he had something during the Orton program) or not "fighting" for it. Would be very interested in seeing him as a heel, he definitely has other talents that never get used

Savio 03-21-2013 11:41 AM

Can someone finish this for me?

AJ Lee's ____________

Fill in the blank. Everytime I see her post I think to myself "AJ Lee's half eaten burrito"

James Steele 03-21-2013 01:15 PM

I love Kofi Kingston. Fuck you guys.

Emperor Smeat 03-21-2013 01:37 PM

Kofi's amazing although his biggest issue is how bland his character is. He's great in the ring and decent on the mic in terms of getting the crowd happy.

Anytime it looks like he might develop a bit in the character, he either ends up with some really bad luck (ex. Bourne screwing up Air Boom's push) or the WWE drops interest in him suddenly (ex. quick squashes).

Some more financial-side details of the WWE Network were revealed with the biggest being how huge of a money drain this project has been for the WWE.

They need to make $150-$200 million and 1 million subscribers just to break even.
Quote:

WWE CFO George Barrios spoke to 4-Traders.com today and revealed some new details on the WWE Network. Notably, the subscription will run $12.99-14.99 per month, the break-even point for WWE is around 1 million subscribers and the company will eventually phase out pay-per-view events entirely. Here’s the full transcript of what Barrios said about:
Quote:

Where WWE’s Future Growth Will Come From:

“Well, over the last few years our core business has been performing well. We generate $75 million to $95 million of EBITDA. Those EBITDA margins have been 16% to 19% so the core business performed well. We have invested a lot in the last couple of years to take advantage some of that growth that we see. And the big strategic thesis for us is the value of content. There is more and more distribution alternatives available. Netflix is one everyone talks about. YouTube not being part of just social video but now real original content. So there’s more and more distribution alternatives and it’s on a global basis. As a content creator and owner, which makes us unique, we own 100% of the rights of our content. We license them out, we’ll license windows but we own it all. And that’s a unique position to be in. We think the rising distribution opportunity is driving up the valley of content. In fact, you look at what HBO does to produce Game of Thrones, right? You’re talking $10 million to $20 million an episode for 13 hours, right. So now you’re in the $150 million to $200 million. That’s incredible value. Raw and SmackDown are two franchised programs, average more viewers than any cable network average of prime time. So USA is a number one cable network in the US. It averages about 3 million viewers a week in prime time. Raw and SmackDown, our two top programs, averages more than that. We create a lot of value with the content. That’s going to be a big driver for growth.”
Quote:

How WWE Will Monetize The Network & The Break-Even Point:

“Sure. So on the first part, continuing on with our core products, we’re going to keep them fully distributed. We think that’s a great platform for a network. And we think there’s a lot of value as those shows come up for renewal. Our four biggest contracts will be renewed over the next three years. We think that’s a great opportunity for us because of the value we deliver. Then to the network, we said we’re going to take our pay-per-views. We’re one of the preeminent pay-per-view providers today and our pay-per-views are priced anywhere between $49.95 and $59.95 today and we’re going to make that the core of a value proposition with a lot of other new content and put it on a premium network so that our fans can subscribe. We said the price will be somewhere between $12.99 or $14.99, to be determined as we go to market but we think that’s a real great opportunity. And to your question about breakeven, about a million subscribers because the pay-per-view buyers will migrate over to the network. That’s our belief. About a million subscribers, we breakeven at 2 million, it’s a really good business; at 3 million to 4 million, for us it’s transformative.”
Quote:

Will WWE’s Pay-Per-View Business Eventually Go Away?

“We believe over time. We believe the value proposition will be much more powerful to subscribe to a network at $12.99 to $14.99, 24/7, you have the pay-per-views, a lot of great content, our library, a lot of retrospective programming that we’re doing that’s testing really, really well, we’re producing it right now so over time, I think the pay-per-view does go away.”

Laughed out loud at the Bret Hart one.

Just listened to the rest. The Bret Hart one was not the funniest.
