WRESTLINGGGGGGGGG!!!

Lock Jaw 04-07-2013 04:32 PM

WE WANT WRESTLE

#1-norm-fan 04-07-2013 04:33 PM

I always get "WrestleMania is almost over" withdrawals halfway through the show whenever there's downtime. Gonna be sad waking up tomorrow with no WrestleMania for 365-ish days. :(

KANE... SO-SO?

Emperor Smeat 04-07-2013 04:37 PM

Is this the first time the WWE is doing a Wrestlemania post-show event?

If its just interview and recaps, probably won't bother watching it considering Raw would just recap anything big tomorrow.

Lock Jaw 04-07-2013 04:39 PM

There's a post-show event?

Supposed to occur right after Mania is done but might just be a WWE.com exclusive. Didn't even know they were doing one until maybe 2-3 days ago.

#1-norm-fan 04-07-2013 04:45 PM

Yeah, probably just some interviews and stuff. Nothing major I'm sure.

Ill lol if Dolph cashes in here when no one is watching.

Volare 04-07-2013 04:47 PM

No shit right? I can see everyone leaving and there are huge lines then Ziggler's theme hits...and everyone starts going ape shit.

Would be a big waste if he turns heel only to go right back to normal after Extreme Rules since the Rock is gone by then.

ESPN interview with Cena where he explains the reasons why he doesn't turn heel. Basically he doesn't want to stop all that extra stuff the WWE has him do and he doesn't want to go all out as a "bad guy."

http://espn.go.com/blog/playbook/fan...talks-the-rock

So Cena is as big of a mark as Bret was?

#1-norm-fan 04-07-2013 04:59 PM

How is it at all mark-ish? He's just stating a fact. He wouldn't be able to do the make-a-wish stuff and all that jazz if he were a heel. Don't be blind just because your personal enjoyment hinges on whether he's a good guy or a bad guy.

James Steele 04-07-2013 05:32 PM

CM Punk and others still do all that shit. The only difference is he wouldn't be the face of WWE's PR campaigns and get himself over as Mr. Wonderful. Cena is a mark for himself.

James Steele 04-07-2013 05:33 PM

Bret Hart thought losing the belt in Canada would shatter a country, and John Cena thinks all of WWE's PR initiatives would fail without him.

Emperor Smeat 04-07-2013 05:36 PM

According to Punk (and others), when he turned heel he was still doing those requests. Even Hogan and Austin have mentioned before in the past they were still doing requests even in their heel phases.

Either Cena really enjoys the spotlight for those events to the point he doesn't want to let someone else be seen as the main "good guy" or has the Bret Hart mentality of he's been a good guy for soo long, he can't envision himself being a bad guy for the kids. Bret basically had to be forced a bit to finally turn heel which lead to the great Canada/Hart vs USA/DX feud of the early Attitude Era.

Curd 04-07-2013 07:23 PM

Y'all just jealous of Cena's altruism! :) #1WWF Fan sums it up nicely.

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 12:20 AM

Curd is correct.

Punk does not nor did he ever do what Cena did as far as the younger demo.

Hart losing a match is a terrible analogy to Cena turning heel.

Mr. Nerfect 04-08-2013 12:26 AM

I still think you can have heels doing PR and that sort of stuff. Photos of fans posing with The Shield, for example. The Miz was on talk shows as a heel. I think Triple H used to do them as a heel, too. It would just be mad awks for the crippled kid to turn on WWE and see his hero being a total douche.

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 01:06 AM

"fans posing with..." and "being on a talk show" do not = appealing to children and visiting dying kids as their last wish.

Mr. Nerfect 04-08-2013 01:15 AM

It's all PR stuff, #1-wwf-fan. If dying kids wanted to see The Shield, they would do that too.

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 01:16 AM

Dying kids don't want to see The Shield. That's the point...

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 01:17 AM

Dying kids want to see Cena... because he's a their hero... he's portrayed as the good guy. It's not complicated.

Skippord 04-08-2013 01:29 AM

probably shouldn't be exclusively booking towards dying kids

not a real permanent market

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 01:38 AM

Dying Shield fans, no less. They got nothing to live for anyway.

You know this for a fact? May I see your research?

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 01:43 AM

Hang on. Let me check and see how many kids have made their dying wish to meet Roman Reigns.

Shadrick 04-08-2013 02:00 AM

I get its unlikely, but you really don't know.

Droford 04-08-2013 02:03 AM

When I was 6 and in the hospital..1988..I would have been happy to see any wrestlers, wouldnt have cared who it was.

Dying kids these days...

Shadrick 04-08-2013 02:07 AM

Fan you may be surprised what these kids like. My 7 year old Godson loves Dean Ambrose, no bullshit. Before Ambrose, he loved Cody and Matt Hardy and he's 7, so I know he doesn't remember those classic tag table matches.

Kids' taste may surprise you sometimes. I know it shocks the fuck outta me.

The fact that Cena is literally the top guy in the company simply because he appeals to kids should pretty much wrap any random argument one would try to start up about The Shield up. Unless dying makes kids say "fuck it, bring me a heel!"

In which case I'm sure WWE would send some. And Cena wouldn't set records for wishes granted and whatnot.

Skippord 04-08-2013 02:18 AM

CM Punk does a ton of make a wish stuff apparently but he doesn't want it publicized

so clearly some kids want to see heels

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 02:21 AM

If he doesn't want it publicized, he's doing a terrible job of keeping it secret obviously.

Skippord 04-08-2013 02:23 AM

I'm pretty sure he said it on the Nerdist podcast where there isn't that much wrestling fan crossover, and I'm also pretty sure he said he doesn't like WWE to publicize it since he's trying to be the bad guy.

Also I'm not one hundred percent sure I didn't hallucinate or dream this

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 02:28 AM

It would be very facepalm-worthy if he did make a point to say in any public forum that he does something he doesn't want publicity for. Obscure podcast or not.

As someone who likes CM Punk I hope you dreamed or hallucinated this because I don't want to think of him as someone who would do something that lame.

Please do that, I'll be waiting patiently for your evidence. Also, gonna make a thread and sticky it where you can update us all on where you're at.

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 02:41 AM

Alright, got some stats right here.

John Cena was recently honored by Make-a-wish for being the only celebrity to grant 300 wishes.

No information on the number of wishes any members of The Shield have granted. Tough to find. Surely it's a cover-up.

Can you post that for us? I'm a bit skeptical about your claims.

#1-norm-fan 04-08-2013 02:48 AM

My apologies...

How popular is Cena with Make-A-Wish? There's a conference room dedicated to him at the company headquarters in Arizona.
SOON TO BE THE "SETH ROLLINS CONFERENCE ROOM" ONCE THIS CONSPIRACY GETS BUSTED OPEN, AMIRITE!?
