That's the stupidest fucking thing.

Of all the ginormous clusterfuck that the "NFL Experience in London(g)!" has been, one of the few ACTUALLY COOL things about it was being able to watch a 9am game on that Sunday or whatever. So they're getting rid of that?

Evil Vito 03-25-2015 09:58 AM

I think they're testing to see how many people actually bother to stream a 9 AM game in America, and they picked this game cause the Jags suck and the Bills, while intriguing, don't have a huge following.

Basically if a ton of people still get up and go out of their way to stream THAT game, it will just give the NFL even more revenue streams going forward because it'll mean people will still stream anything to get their NFL fix.

screech 03-25-2015 10:20 AM

I liked having the 9am game on because it ended during my show and I could give live updates lol

Droford 03-25-2015 06:04 PM

No more lining up ineligible receivers like the Patriots did vs the Ravens.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-25-2015 09:31 PM

John Harbaugh is an asshole. He can't understand a rule, he bitches and now it's illegal. Suck a dick.

screech 03-25-2015 09:45 PM

Shut up

Emperor Smeat 03-25-2015 10:33 PM

NFL preparing rule changes for the extra point process starting as early as this season. Suppossed to be the main topic of debates during the next meeting in May.

Considering the amount of teams being investigated this season, NFL hinted the first batch of punishments are going to be handed out soon. Both the Browns and Falcons are expected to get hit with "severe" penalties.

Simple Fan 03-25-2015 10:47 PM

I didn't mind the pre season games where they moved it back bit I have also heard they are thinking about moving it up to encourage teams to go for two more often.

Droford 03-25-2015 11:28 PM

The only people who will hate doing away with extra points is sports books since it messes with how they calculate spreads and especially totals.

James Steele 03-26-2015 12:10 AM

It's stupid to get rid of PATs. Quit trying to reinvent the fucking wheel.

#1-norm-fan 03-26-2015 12:56 AM

Yeah, I kinda hate any proposed rule change that directly changes how points are scored.

Emperor Smeat 03-26-2015 01:11 AM

Still think the CFL-style of an extra point for 50+ yd FGs would be the best. Makes longer FGs more exciting, wouldn't mess up scoring in a weird way like what the Colts suggested or by removing PATs, and just moving PATs back a few yards would still make them "boring."

Ruien 03-26-2015 10:56 AM

Just leave it the way it is. IF YOU MUST CHANGE IT then just get rid of the PAT and make everyone go for 2.

screech 03-26-2015 11:18 AM

Just make every touchdown 7 #backyard

Evil Vito 03-26-2015 12:45 PM

I was always a big proponent of defending the extra point but at this point it's a total formality. You have to try really hard to screw it up.

I wouldn't mind the NFL Blitz rule: touchdown is worth 7 points by default. If you want to go for an 8th point, you put a point at risk. If you make it, 8 points. If you don't, 6 points. Pretty simple and keeps strategies basically the same with respect to the current game.

The worst thing they could possibly do would be to force everybody to go for 2 no matter what. A 2-point conversion attempt is basically a 50/50 play, it'd be terrible to dramatically swing the game on what amounts to total luck. You may as well just flip a coin at that point.

screech 03-26-2015 01:34 PM

Plus a "real play" has higher injury risk, which I'd think the league would want to avoid.

Simple Fan 03-26-2015 01:37 PM

Yea if they want to change it the best thing to do us move it back about 10 yards to make them less automatic. And it give the offence more room to run a pass play.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-26-2015 02:26 PM

10 yards is still a chip shot.

Simple Fan 03-26-2015 02:32 PM

If the ball is on the 13 it makes about a 30 yard field goal.

Ruien 03-26-2015 03:41 PM

We should just give the team the ball at their 20 and tell them they get 3 plays to get into the end zone again. We can award them 1 point if it takes 3 plays, 2 points if it takes 2 plays, and a holy OMG 3 points if it takes 1 play. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Seriously, the game is just fine as it is. It is called a EXTRA POINT for a reason. It is like the reward for getting a touchdown instead of doing 2 field goals.

Droford 03-26-2015 08:14 PM

It's not really officially called an extra point.

Point After Touchdown (PAT)

Ruien 03-26-2015 08:52 PM

Point After Touchdown seems like a free point instead of kicking a 40 yard field goal for it.

Hate Droford so much in this thread.

Requiem 03-26-2015 09:51 PM

Still seems totally pointless (no pun intended). Should just give them 7 points per TD, and give them a really long kick to try and tack on an extra 1 to make it 8.

ClockShot 03-30-2015 04:27 PM

NFL brought the hammer down on the Browns and Falcons with their shenanigans.

Falcons fined $350k and lose a draft pick in 2016 for their fake crowd noise over the last 2 seasons.

Browns fined $250k and the GM suspended the first 4 games for sending text messages to sideline personnel during games.

road doggy dogg 03-30-2015 06:11 PM

seem like such stupid trivial things but I guess they "have to" do something about it

meh

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-30-2015 06:12 PM

When will the Colts and Seahawks be punished for the same thing (fake noise)? Seems like they are punishing a jobber team to send a message.

James Steele 03-30-2015 10:01 PM

Roger Goodell is a fucking joke.

Requiem 03-31-2015 08:24 PM

Colts were investigated and the allegations were proven to be false. CBS took responsibility for the crowd noise issue years ago when this rumor started. Something to do with their audio fucked up and caused a feedback sensation. It only existed on their channel's broadcast, and couldn't be heard in the stadium. That one event sparked rumors that they were doing it on purpose until they were investigated and cleared of it.

Harbaugh saying it again recently doesn't make it true.

SlickyTrickyDamon 03-31-2015 08:41 PM

Still Seahawks?

Evil Vito 04-01-2015 11:16 AM

A couple of weeks after Jameis Winston said he won't attend the draft, Marcus Mariota won't be either.

Nice job moving the draft away from New York, Goodell. :y:

Ruien 04-01-2015 12:20 PM

Would not take any news you hear today seriously Vito. A die hard Philly fan just blew up when he read a article that the Vikings traded Peterson to Dallas for a draft pick.

It's being reported by CBS Sports, NBC Sports, and the Chicago Tribune. He's going to watch the draft from Hawaii with family. Not exactly an April Fool's Day-worthy story.

Ruien 04-01-2015 01:34 PM

Okay. My bad then. I checked ESPN and NFL.com and did not see anything related to it. Which I could have missed on those site also.

Emperor Smeat 04-01-2015 11:21 PM

 Bengals April Fool prank ended up making fun of the Browns.

The Ravens signed Matt Schaub for backup QB. Flacco hasn't missed a start in 7 years, I guess it doesn't matter much. They should have just drafted another backup. Seems like waste to pay him to sit on the bench and hold a clipboard the whole year, and if Flacco gets hurt they're fucked anyway cause he sucks.

Former Bucs kicker, Lawrence Tynes, is currently suing the team over the MRSA mini-pandemic a few years ago.

Tynes was signed by the Bucs in 2013 but never kicked for the team, as he was diagnosed with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus at the start of training camp.

The lawsuit claims the Bucs failed to disclose and actively concealed ongoing incidents of the infection among other individuals who used and visited the team's facilities. It also is alleged that the Bucs failed to employ necessary sterile techniques and routinely left therapy devices, equipment and surfaces unclean.

Jets signed Steven Ridley to a 1-year deal according to ESPN. Expected to be more of a backup than starter role for the Jets. Redskins and Dolphins were also interested in getting him.
