Warner Bros and MGM were revealed to be collaborating on a new Tomb Raider film. Will be a reboot of the film series with Evan Daugherty as the main script writer.

Director Blomkamp is now correcting himself that Alien 5 will NOT undo Alien 3 and Resurrection, and that it will be "more commected" to the first two movies.

Still dunno how that's gonna work with Sigourney Weaver being so much older now.

Several theaters are going to be holding a Marvel marathon leading up to Avengers: Age of Ultron's release.

Quote:

Tickets are now on sale for Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Age of Ultron, but to make things just a bit more interesting, AMC Theaters, Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark, Megaplex, Harkins and National Amusements theaters are planning “The Ultimate Marvel Marathon” featuring every single Marvel Studios film. Spanning over 27 hours, the event will begin on April 29 with Iron Man and conclude April 30 with Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Quote:

The schedule for AMC theaters will go as follows:

6:00pm IRON MAN

8:25pm THE INCREDIBLE HULK

10:35pm IRON MAN 2

1:00am THOR

3:10am CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER

5:30am THE AVENGERS

8:48am IRON MAN 3

11:15am THOR: THE DARK WORLD

1:45pm CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER

4:20pm GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

7:00pm AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (RealDŽ 3D)

Lock Jaw 03-05-2015 12:07 AM

Seems "dumb". Imagine somebody trying to "do the marathon". By the time they actually got around to watching the new Avengers, they'd be falling asleep....

Kalyx triaD 03-05-2015 12:21 AM

I imagine they'll pick which movies to sit out and camp in their car on in the hallway.

Jura 03-05-2015 03:21 AM

Man found dead in theater from not moving for 27+ hours.

Jura 03-05-2015 03:29 AM

It would be better to show 2 movies a night leading up to the premier of the new movie.

The only way this thing works is if they sell it as a package so the only people who are in that section or sections are the only ones who bought the package and if they had comfy recliner seats. Food and drinks included into the package as well would be a good idea. They can pop in and out for the movies and all that the staff has to do is check the tickets instead of selling tickets for each movie every couple of hours.

Kalyx triaD 03-05-2015 04:19 PM

Pretty sure it would be a package. It's how we did marathons when I was working at AMC.

Kalyx triaD 03-05-2015 06:23 PM

Sly Stallone and Fox are teaming up to bring the Expendables to TV in an 'event series' (likely meaning a mini-series) that will use legendary TV stars that team up to stop a threat.

I'm thinking this will likely be in the movie's universe as will the 'Expendabelles' female focused spin-off still in development.

Who do you think should make the team? I think McGuyver's a lock.

Sixx 03-05-2015 06:27 PM

Dudikoff.

Mr. T maybe?

Kalyx triaD 03-05-2015 06:34 PM

Supposedly Warner Bros is being alleged to have stolen artwork from another artist in regards to one of the European Blu-ray versions for the Masters of the Universe 25th anniversary edition.

The main issue revolves around an image of Skeletor used in the Swedish version that wasn't used for other versions of the film. Those versions use what Skeletor looked like in the film for the cover.

Quote:

Freelance illustrator and concept artist Dave Rapoza claims that his work has been used without his permission.

Rapoza – whose work has been commissioned by the likes of Bethesda, Riot Games, Blizzard, and 20th Century Fox for X-Men Days of Future Past – believes his fan art of Skeletor has been used on the cover of the Swedish Blu-ray rerelease of 1987’s Masters of the Universe.

Hope it is better than the 90s remake. The last one was ok. But really Masters of the Universe 80s version doesn;t hold up. Bad animation, bad stories and forced in moral lessons in each episode. Plus it was nothing but a bad rip off of Blackstar. Which it seems no one besides me remembers.

Kalyx triaD 03-22-2015 08:44 PM

Yeah Chris Carter's had the 3rd movie written out for years now, and has been lobbying for Fox to jump on it. EA managed to get some investors on board to help convince Dreamworks to get a new Need for Speed film to be made.

Quote:

According to Variety, a Need for Speed movie sequel is in the works, with various Chinese partners and Electronic Arts playing important roles. The project isn't yet greenlit, however; Dreamworks owns the rights to a sequel, and a deal would have to be negotiated to secure them.

The fact that Chinese partners are involved seemingly indicates the direction for the next installment. Early reports peg this Need for Speed as being filmed mostly in China, and made up of a cast that's comprised largely of the nation's actors. This is likely due to the fact that the original saw a large chunk of its proceeds, $65 million, come from audiences in China.

Apparently Sony's been wanting to do a bunch of gaming-related movies with them also trying to get a collaboration deal done with Activision. Would have involved either Call of Duty and/or Skylanders getting a film made.

Unlike with the Nintendo stuff, the Activision films were more of ideas than actual talks with the company.

Quote:

Skylanders, Rothman said, could possibly be a giant LEGO Movie-type film. Call of Duty, while Rothman said would be hard to use, would still be worth it because of the franchise’s popularity.

The B list consisted of Diablo, Destiny and Castle Wolfenstein. There were “a bunch of Cs,” but Rothman didn’t outline them.

Nick Arcade might be getting a spiritual successor if the new show's Kickstarter fund ends up being successful.

Quote:

We've gotten word from James Bethea, co-creator of Nick Arcade, that a spritual successor is in the works. Bethea has reunited with his co-creator Karim Miteff and the original host Phil Moore for a "spiritual successor" called Enthlevel. The idea is to mix the old school feel of the show with new technology, which is mostly VR-related, where "live action and CG (computer graphics) obstacles converge." It will be team-based just like the original, where "teens through adults of any age can compete."

The Kickstarter has just launched, with 28 days to go and a $350,000 goal.

Mad Max: Fury Road reviews are all coming back super positive.

Gonna try to track down a collection set and just take a day and watch them all just as a refresher.

Emperor Smeat 05-14-2015 10:39 PM

Apparently there is a push going on for a boycott of the new Mad Max film all because Mad Max takes orders from a woman in a film. The group involved with the boycott has been getting ridiculed ever since their stance was made public.

Quote:

A men's rights group have condemned the new action movie Mad Max: Fury Road because of a strong female character in the storyline.

Actress Charlize Theron stars as Furiosa, a character that has angered the men's group on the men's blog Return of Kings.

Despite glowing reviews, blogger Aaron Clarey wrote an article calling on men to not only boycott the film, but to encourage other men not to watch it either.

"Not only REFUSE to see the movie, but spread the word to as many men as possible," he wrote, describing the movie as a feminist "Trojan Horse" used to blur lines between masculinity and femininity.

He was not happy that Furiosa had "barked orders" at Mad Max.

"Fury Road was not going to be a movie made for men. It was going to be a feminist piece of propaganda posing as a guy flick."

The next Mad Max film expected to be called "Mad Max: Wasteland" with a third film already confirmed as well.

According to the director, the plan was always for a trilogy to be done for the Mad Max reboot. Already have the scripts done for the next two films because of all the free time they had with Fury Road's delays and production.

Quote:

“We’ve got one screenplay and a novella. It happened because with the delays [on Fury Road], and writing all the backstories, they just expanded,” Miller said while explaining how he ended up with a fully mapped out Mad Max trilogy before the first film released, on The Q&A with Jeff Goldsmith.
