Problem is, when you talk about all the "horrible" things she did, you take away from the fact Ray Rice cold cocked his fiancee. I've been spit on by a chick, I've been kicked in the head, punched in the face by a chick.... my immediate reaction was not to cold cock them. In fact tbh it wasn't all that bad because I outweighed them by like 100 pounds.
The sentence should go like this, Ray Rice is an asshole and deserves to rot in prison. Not Ray Rice is an asshole and deserves to rot in prison BUT his girlfriend is a stupid head for hitting him. Come on man, get it through your head. |
Yeah. She probably burned dinner the night before, too. Just sayin'.

Cards John Abraham out indefinitely and might even be considering retirement after getting a serious concussion during the Chargers game.

Doug Martin didn't practice today either, probably will sit out this week. I hope so since that scumbag Triple A has him and I'm going against him in D&D battles
|
Less than 24 hours after Goodell went on national TV and explained that they asked law enforcement officials for the tape and never received it...the law enforcement official who was asked for the tape confirmed that it was sent to Goodell and the Ravens 3 months ago.
Goodell is done. |
NFL "investigating" the executive/s that received and watched the video. Looks like they are going to try to pin it on their employees instead of Goodell. Classy.
|
According to ESPN'S Outside The Line report, Ray Rice spat on his wife at least once leading up to the incident in the elevator. Might explain why she was in a piss off mood and hit him prior to getting knocked out cold.

I should send my resume to the NFL, just in case

I wonder if the next NFL commissioner will actually care about the concussion epidemic we're watching these current players live through.
|
|
Always good to hear a positive story like that... sucks about Stills' daughter though, that is heartbreaking
|
I dont agree with what Ray Rice did but also dont see what the big deal is here. Rays wife has forgive him for what he did and she is the victim, so why cant any one else. If a construction worker was to have done this would they be calling for his bosses job for letting him work. Goddel shouldnt be fired or resign for somthing one of his players did. 2 games for a misdameanor is good enough I think.

More from ESPN's Outside the Lines report stated that Rice told Goodell everything that happened in the elevator and wasn't "ambiguous" or Rice hiding/lying about certain things.
Even if the NFL's claims of never seeing the full video were true, Rice told them the entire story.

.@OTLonESPN report contradicts Goodell's statement that after meeting w/ Rice, it was "ambiguous" what happened. http://t.co/e8xVwA1oFN
— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) September 11, 2014
 |
NFL fined Antonio Brown $8,200 for the Brogue Kick he gave to Cleveland's punter during last week's game.

Ray Rice could sue the NFL
he'd have to have proof the NFL saw the video from inside the elevator before they levied the original 2 game suspension, since its against the collective bargaining agreement with the players association to penalize a player twice for the same issue. |
I just want this game to start, and its still over an hour away..ugh

What the fuck are people talking about "receiving the tape" and it being "mailed" to somebody. It was a fucking iphone video
|
I'm pretty sure it was security camera footage that would have been recorded. I bet the term tape means disc though.

The Steelers probably should be concerned their offense has scored 9 points in the last 5 qtrs.
|
Steelers are shit.
|
Steelers are very bad.
|
It can't be that the Ravens are good? Defense has allowed 7 FGS/1TD in 2 games. This Ravens team has enough offense to win games if the defense can keep that up.

and the Hay is in the barn!

Hey the Ravens won :)

Seems like every year in week 2 Dallas goes on the road to play a team that ends up making a "surprise" playoff appearance. With Tennessee being a trendy pick to make the playoffs even before last week, it got me thinking how oddly similar every week 2 game has felt lately.
Last year in week 2 it was @ Kansas City. 2-14 the year before, surprise playoff appearance. The year before it was @ Seattle. 4 straight losing seasons, surprise playoff appearance with a rookie QB. The year before it was @ San Francisco. Perennial NFC West basement dwellers, surprise playoff/NFC championship appearance. And now @ Tennessee this year. |
Not totally sure how much of a surprise KC were. Like yeah obv they were horrible in 2012, but a lot of people penciled KC in for the playoffs last year simply because they had Charles, a good defense, a new coach (it's fun to make fun of Andy Reid but he has at least gotten teams to the playoffs a bunch of times) and most importantly one of the weakest looking schedules in NFL history.
Still not too sure how I feel about Tennessee. Can't decide if they played really well on Sunday or if KC just completely suck. |
Another day, and things continue to look worse for Goodell. NFL has now given the reason for Rice's increased suspension, basically saying it's because he lied about what actually happened. This of course flies in the fact of the Outside the Lines report with multiple sources claiming Rice told Goodell exactly what happened, and the report from Ravens executives that what Rice told them was exactly what was on the video.
For us to believe this latest pile of bullshit, that would mean that the NFL based its first suspension not on the criminal report filed with police, which explained the events in detail, matching what was on the video, but instead they based it entirely on the testimony of Ray Rice. There is literally nothing the NFL can do anymore that doesn't immediately contradict something else they said or make them look like complete and utter morons. And on the new drug policy front, it's expected to get approved tonight, allowing Welker to play this weekend, somehow, nonsensically, Josh Gordon still has an 8 game suspension. |
What people are losing in all this is that the Ravens "fully backed and supported" Rice while hearing the same recanting of events from Rice himself that the NFL did, and only had issue with it when it became a PR disaster. Fuck the Ravens too
|
The fact that no one, the league nor the team, got the whole story and just took Rice at his word bothers me. It seems that, if the report of Goodell being told the real story in June is true, no one from "the office" went to the Ravens with that information.
Like, are we to believe that Rice lied to the team so he could have their support, but told Goodell the truth? |
Had a longer post but it kept fucking up because mobile

He <strike>disciplined</strike>beat his kid with a switch. Vikings have "deactivated" him.

now we get to have the "is it discipline or child abuse to beat your kid with a switch" debate and the inevitable "back in my day my parents whacked me on the behind with a 2x4 and I turned out great" thanks NFL
|
AP de-activated. Vikings going down now! Happy birthday to me!

Peterson allegedly shoved leaves in his child's mouth and beat him with a switch several times, including hitting him in the scrotum with it. Fucking terrible, if true.

what is a "switch"

That's what he did. Guy deserves to get canned from the NFL. Just because that's how he was punished as a kid doesn't make it alright. Gotta rise above the abuse of the past generations and figure out a way to raise kids that doesn't involve senselessly beating them when they do wrong. |

They shouldn't do anything to Adrian Peterson because he's on my fantasy team and that's not fair.

Vikings reinstated Adrian Peterson after his 1 game punishment.
|
So, violently beating the shit out of your child gets less of a punishment than smoking pot...
|
Yay NFL!
|
This was the Vikings reinstating him, The NFL has not punished him, yet.
Josh Gordon messed himself over because he CONSTANTLY had the same issues going on. The drug policy has just been redone. PLUS, if the rule book clearly states that you will receive a 8 game ban for smoking pot then why the heck are you doing it? That is on the idiotic player. |
You're right in the fact that he knew the rules and took the risk. He deserves some sort of punishment. That fact remains though that marijuana being a banned substance is a ridiculously antiquated rule. It needs to be addressed. No matter how many offenses there are, it is a relatively harmless substance. Seems ridiculous that there could ever be a full season suspension for any marijuana related crime, really. (Except for maybe mass distribution)
|
Oh it is. Agreed on that. Just can't stand when people bring up the "Well this rule does X amount of games and this rule does X amount". Especially when the NFL did not even punish Adrian (yet, as in he may be punished later). This was the Vikings doing, deactivating their player. Would just make sense to wait and see what the punishment actually is before complaining.

Adrian Peterson needs to do 2 things.
1) Stop beating his kids. 2) Stop having children. Then his problems will be solved |
That was a really nice interception.

That was awesome.
|
The media just isn't going to let this go. They smell blood. They are going to rip and tear at it until it explodes. Somehow Adrian Peterson's attorneys and PR people have prevented this from destroying him thus far but Ray Rice is only going to be a story for another week or so and they are going to need somebody else to hang. Probably not looking good.
Don't beat your kids, y'all. |

It'd be a different story if AP denied and ran from authorities. he did admit to going a little too old school on his son's ass. I think he should have to serve some punishment though. Especially in a world where discipline is gone and everyone is righteous.
|
Peterson has been put on the exempt list and is now barred from all team activities until his legal issues have been resolved.
|
The big winners in all this are the people tired of hearing about Johnny Manziel
|
Manziel has to be pissed theres no way he can be considered a "bad boy" now
