The armor suit you find depends on what your level is. That battle is not easy at all if you go in there level 38+. Trust me, I was using elaborate mine placement and line of sight VATS critical hits and it still was a multiple death affair. I got a full suit of X01 MKIII for my troubles though which was well well worth it at the time.

Sepholio 01-20-2016 02:07 PM

Yeah well now that I have the appropriate perks I can one/two shot fusion cores from any angle, even through obstructions. So that would probably work. Couldn't do that then, though. I still had to get line of sight on their back to hit the cores or combat inhibitors at that point. I could get one of them easy enough but the other would usually box me into corner or the soon to explode corpse of his friend and hold me there with one of those 'pin' moves where they grab you or toss you down for a second.

Heisenberg 02-09-2016 12:06 PM

Have to pee real bad so I'll come back and read the rest, but the settlers who give out quests to save them and then go out on a run are a bitch to track down and turn into to. The other night I had to put one of them 6 feet under for dodging me around the map

Kris P Lettus 02-09-2016 12:30 PM

Into.the brotherhood of steel part. The protecting the Commonwealth part is exactly like the Minutemen shit. So repetitive.

Heisenberg 02-16-2016 01:31 PM

Trying to hold back on details about the DLC coming next month. My willpower is low though, didn't expect DLC til the summer so I'm good to go

road doggy dogg 02-16-2016 04:20 PM

Dumb question that I probably should know the answer to: I have the Collector's Edition, does that include the season pass for all the DLC? Three DLC packs were announced today at a price of like $30 (or $50 if you wait until March 1)

road doggy dogg 02-16-2016 04:20 PM

I'm hearing conflicting reports. Some people saying CE includes it, but apparently the Pip-Boy Edition doesn't?

Shadow 02-16-2016 04:26 PM

Pretty sure that it does have the Season pass but you can always ask Bethesda.

Also the GECK is coming soon. It's in testing phase now.

road doggy dogg 02-16-2016 04:28 PM

I'll have to take a look when I get home from work... hope it does, would make me feel way more justified for shelling out for the Pip Boy lol (even though it's fuckin sweet)

Emperor Smeat 02-16-2016 06:11 PM

According to Bethesda, the Season Pass' price is going up due to them changing DLC plans for the game. Pretty hefty bump from $29.99 to $49.99 as a result and the price change takes effect on March 1st.

Quote:

In any case, because of the increased amount of DLC on the way, Bethesda is also increasing the price of the game's season pass from $29.99 to $49.99 on March 1. If you've already purchased the pass, there's no change, you'll still get everything. And if you buy it before March 1, you'll get the $29.99 price, too.

Heisenberg 02-17-2016 09:07 AM

purchased the Season Pass last night, they're not getting anymore out of me on this go round

Shadow 02-17-2016 11:30 AM

Same here. It'll be worth it for the next set of DLC. Which I really really hope follows the same vein as this set of DLC.

Emperor Smeat 02-17-2016 06:01 PM

Green Man Gaming currently has the PC version of the Season Pass on discount ($5 off) for those interested in getting it before the official price hike.

New settler "menu" is just an icon that shows what job they are assigned to. Lame.

Better than nothing I guess , but could still be much better.

drave 02-19-2016 07:03 AM

That is a pretty good addition. One of the reasons I never bothered with settlements.

I would put people in specific clothes to tell what they did, but that was shite. Now, when they fix the Needy Preston issue, I'll go all out with settlements.

Couple of Fallout 4 news got released recently.

Mod support for all platforms will arrive between April and June.
Quote:

But in an interview with Game Informer, Bethesda’s Todd Howard announced that that will be changing in the coming months, with official mod support rolling out in stages between two of the three currently announced DLCs. PC will be getting it in April, Xbox One in May, and PS4 in June:
http://www.destructoid.com/fallout-4...y-343919.phtml

Survival Mode was announced to be arriving as a DLC pack within the same time frame. The Automatron DLC pack on the other hand will just be a minor add-on for the game. Betas for DLC packs also announced to likely contain stuff that will get cut for official DLC releases.
Quote:

Bethesda's Todd Howard finally revealed when mod support would be coming to consoles for Fallout 4, but he dropped a few more tidbits as well speaking to Game Informer. Most notably, survival mode is coming as a free update, and will be a bit more hardcore than the current iteration. According to Howard, Bethesda is working on mechanics like "you can't save, it only saves your game when you sleep. You can't fast travel. There're all of these diseases. We want the combat to feel different, as opposed to just being a bullet sponge."

As for the Automatron DLC, it will involve a "little quest line" as expected, so don't think it's going to be a big add-on or anything. DLC betas will last a month though, and might involve features that don't make it to the retail build.

Clever folks over at reddit have recently mined the game and found new details for Bethesda's upcoming survival mode update for Fallout 4, which the publisher has now confirmed. Essentially, you can enable it anywhere with a simple menu swipe, and it instantly allows you to do more (as well as take more) damage. Manual and quicksave options are disabled, and you'll need to sleep at least an hour to save. Fast Travel is completely gone.

Beyond that, enemies won't show up on your compass, and fatigue actually...matters now. You can read a whole bunch of other minute details here in the full log

I CAN'T WAIT!

One thing I wish they'd fix is the "having to physically BE there" garbage (not just that happiness bug, either). Especially if updated survival is going to do away with fast travel.

If I'm futzing around near the Glowing Sea, I dont want to hike all the way back up to Tenpines Bluff. And I damn sure shouldn't have to with the wall I built, a 3 to 1 ratio on defenses vs food/water, and every citizen heavily armed by me personally, just to watch them essentially vaporize every conceivable raiding party or beast without having to lift a fucking finger when I arrive..

But heaven forbid I *don't* go, then they act like they got their asses handed to them, all my turrets are broken, and the population is down to like 3 people. I shouldn't have to cross the map just to stand there with my thumb up my ass simply to not "fail" a settlement defense.

Shadow 03-01-2016 04:29 PM

DLC shall be dropping any day this month. Was hoping for today but alas no dice.

road doggy dogg 03-19-2016 07:23 PM

lol, found the kid in a fridge and started that quest. He's just tagging along with me right, whining at me at every turn. I was in my main settlement and just smacked him with the butt end of my gun which turned him hostile, and everyone in my settlement is now unloading every bullet and grenade they have at this poor fuckin kid.. so great

El Vaquero de Infierno 03-21-2016 05:18 PM

Finally installing Fallout 4, as I need to wait for the 1.13 patch of Witcher 3 before I can continue with the main quests on that game, as the glitches are game breaking at the moment.

It is ridiculous that the PC edition of Fallout only has around 4.6GB on disk, and then you need to download the remaining 20GB off Steam. I probably won't be able to play until Thursday.

Emperor Smeat 03-22-2016 05:14 PM

For those in the UK or with an UK account that got a free Season Pass due to a recent goof up on PSN, Sony and/or Bethesda has started to revoke those passes.

Quote:

According to Eurogamer, players are reporting that the season pass has been revoked and removed from their libraries. If you want to download any of the new DLC, you’ll either have to either buy the season pass or or the DLC individually. You do get to keep the exclusive Fallout 4 PS4 theme, at least for the moment. So that’s nice.

For those with the PC version, the beta for the new Survival Mode is planned to start next week. Console owners will get the same beta at a later date.

Quote:

Bethesda Game Studios has announced that Fallout 4‘s revamped Survival mode will enter beta testing in the near future.

According to a post on Twitter, PC players will be able to test out the mode in beta form via Steam from next week. Vice president of marketing and PR Pete Hines added that the mode will be pushed to the PC version following the beta period before finally being brought to Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Shit. For people that actually have the game and have already added this DLC, I hope it's not a widespread thing on the level of New Vegas' "Dead Money" DLC major glitch right at the beginning. Gameplay was bad enough in there compared to the main game without that happening, too. Ended up just deleting it and waited 'till the Ultimate Edition came out.

Started the chain last night - no issues.

The robot building station is amazing. Haven't went to the first "real mission" yet, but built the station and looked through what you can make. Lotsa options and some very cool components to build.

The Workshop is here

I've had two murders happen in Sanctuary last night after setting up the Arena for Settlers, animals, ghouls etc. to battle. You can mark settlers for a blue or red side and make them hostile to each other. I set the red and blue platforms right by each other and it started a friggin war instantly. I guess I'm supposed to keep them separated or in cages with a door.

Shadow 04-14-2016 02:33 PM

Fignuts 04-21-2016 06:41 AM

Some good shit in the new dlc, fellas. It's not just arena and cage stuff.

Concrete building materials, so your structures don't have to look like poorly made shacks, lots of new decoration and furniture items. Streetlights, which I really wanted. Lots of other stuff.

Something called a beta wave emitter which makes any captured enemies nonhostile. So from the sounds of it, you can have a bunch of deathclaws just hanging out lol

drave 04-21-2016 07:43 AM

Saw a "Deathclaw Bar" on reddit :)

And hooray for not having to "fabricate" street lights now! Have to jump back in once I have this Elder Scrolls Online fix outta the way.

3 has mind-controlled non-hostile deathclaws, and also a(n) Enclave deathclaw that the Lone Wanderer can release from its cage with a lv. 50 lockpick skill, which makes it attack everyone it spots besides the Wanderer until it's killed or it kills everyone but the Wanderer, when it then becomes hostile to the player and attacks. Was during main quest "The American Dream", IIRC.

Fallout 4's Far Harbor expansion, the game's third add-on, will launch across the world on May 19 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, Bethesda announced today. A new trailer has also been released.

The expansion is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Maine's popular tourist destination, Bar Harbor. The location represents the largest landmass Bethesda has ever made for expansion content.

Far Harbor expansion pack is currently on sale at Steam for 22% off while the PS4 version already dealing with several big problems at the moment.

PC version has some framerate problems although not as severe as the PS4 version while the Xbox One version doesn't seem to have any big issues with the new expansion pack.

Quote:

Bethesda's first major expansion for Fallout 4, Far Harbor, is having some real frame rate problems on the PS4. Almost the entire outdoor landmass of the new content plays below 20 FPS, like one big pre-patch Corvega factory.

The culprit seems to be the radioactive fog unique to the expansion. A key aesthetic feature and plot element of Far Harbor is the thick, oppressive, and ultimately lethal fog that has spread over almost the entirety of the island. It's a cool idea and looks moody as hell in screenshots, but it has absolutely tanked the performance on PS4 and makes the experience an incredible slog to play through.

More importantly, for ALL console players is an inescapable trailer in Far Harbor. It is close to the south of Far Harbor near a Rocket gas station. There is a bed wedged in the door, but you can still get in. Because of clipping, you cannot get out and console players cannot use a terminal command to enable 0 clipping to escape.

Any cool new settlement building stuf?

Also, bethesda announced that console mods are coming at the end ofvthe month with a closed beta next week.

Purgatory 05-21-2016 01:18 AM

I'm not getting Far Harbor till Ive 100% completed the main game. I've got about 60 hours in and have only done a handful of missions. I've been mostly building up settlements and, as of today, setting up supply lines.

Can I assign a guard to accompany a Provisioner, or do I just have to make sure theyve got armor and hope for the best? I'm not even sure if they get attacked while they're out or not.

There is a bed wedged in the door, but you can still get in. Because of clipping, you cannot get out and console players cannot use a terminal command to enable 0 clipping to escape.

Yeah, Ive heard the PS4 version is fucked. They'll fix it tho.

On that trailer glitch. Allegedly, theres nothing in it but a few rolls of tape under the bed that's blocking the doorway and you don't even have to go in to get it. I've seen this solution posted all over, so hopefully it's seen before more people get stuck.

Can I assign a guard to accompany a Provisioner, or do I just have to make sure theyve got armor and hope for the best? I'm not even sure if they get attacked while they're out or not.

I haven't done a ton of settlement building at all. I do know if you have Automatron and completed it, you can build and send eyebots out for any material you need. I do that on the reggie and never have had any of them be attacked, etc.

Settlements also now defend themselves. I signed in early this morning (first time since downloading Far Harbor) and had messages about settlements successfully defending themselves. FUCK OFF PRESTON GARVEY!

Far Harbor is excellent so far. The new Radium rifles sound soooooooooooooooooooo fucking awesome when they are firing.

The new enemies are fucking tough too. I have the difficulty cranked up which might be why, but I have been one-shotted a few different times. The fog gives a nice touch too, and truly does make it harder to target and/or see incoming enemies.

Just made it to Acadia and met DiMA. Already loving the entire premise of the DLC main story so far. Not getting into it for those who haven't played yet, but it is done insanely well.

Movement feels faster too. I noticed that frames seem to be smoother at the same time. Not sure if there was a "performance" patch or w/e but after I installed Far Harbor, there was another 550MB update for something. I have noticed that I walk/sprint much faster now.

Went through a lot of this over the weekend. Pretty hard with all of the water around using Power Armor.

drave 05-25-2016 10:08 PM

Then get out of the power armor and be a man :|

Shadow 05-26-2016 09:59 AM

But Power Armor makes the Fog it's bitch!

drave 05-26-2016 05:25 PM

Dude, unless you are in deep fog it is < 1 rad.

If you are on survival, that is also acceptable :P

There is like two sets of T-51 that are painted up with Vim colors. Need to find at least one set of that before I run off to do more main questing.

OH! Made a Legendary Mirelurk Queen into my lunch last night. Thank god Nick was distracting her with his boat hook.

Love the Fat Man weapon. Really helped with the 5 Super Mutant Behemoths in FO3.

drave 05-31-2016 04:19 PM

Xbox One Mods todays fellas.

Shadow 05-31-2016 04:36 PM

I legit laughed at the end of the Mariner Questline in Far Harbor. Just awesome stuff that actually effects the game world.

drave 05-31-2016 08:02 PM

Haven't finished yet.

Fignuts 06-01-2016 04:57 AM

There is a gun that shoots deathclaws.

I've waited so long for mods on consoles. So worth the wait.

drave 06-01-2016 08:03 PM

Pretty damn fun :D

Deathclaw follower is fun too!

Fallout 4 coming to HTC Vive in 2017

drave 06-13-2016 07:02 AM

Sweet.

Just had fun with the nuke launch codes & the children of atom last night.

Found a double projectile .44 that hits like a fucking truck. Also managed to get a full Marine Recon suit (two now). Tempted to put points into melee just to be a ninja.

#BROKEN Hasney 06-13-2016 07:02 AM

.... I might buy myself a Vive.

drave 06-13-2016 07:06 AM

Indeed. It'd be a helluva time playing in VR. FO4 is good at "setting the tone" in environments. That and the baddies of Far Harbor are fucking sneaky AND smart.

I learned the hard way that gulpers sleep in trees, damnit. Also, anglers like to attack in packs and flank, a lot.

Fignuts 06-13-2016 07:12 AM

Well it's 800 bucks and requires a pretty powerful setup, so good luck with that.
