3-0 DRays in the 2nd. There are so many jokes I want to make about Schilling right now, but I'll cut him slack because the Devil Rays are actually awesome since the all star break.

He still sucks though.

BCWWF 08-30-2005 07:41 PM

No it wasn't Lugo, it was some even more no-namer. Lugo has potential to be pretty good, he isn't real bad now either.

Anyway, Buehrle called out the Rangers for stealing pitches and having a little light in the outfield. I dunno, I try to hate the White Sox but Buehrle is one of the guys I just kind of have to respect.

The Miz 08-30-2005 07:42 PM

Why would the Rangers steal signs, they have the best infield in baseball, don;t you ever watch ESPN?

The Miz 08-30-2005 07:45 PM

OK, back-to-back-to-back extra base hits. 5-0, I don't care if the Devil Rays are hot, you suck. The Red Sox will not win the World Series with this clown in the rotation.

BCWWF 08-30-2005 07:47 PM

What are you talking about?

VonErich Lives 08-30-2005 07:50 PM

5-0...

So, the sox have 2 SP's.

Wells, who has to sit 6games and could probably get another 6-???? for calling out the commmish and stiring a lot of crap. Heck, the Sox even released a statement kissing Seligs butt and basicly saying "David Wells doesn't speak for the team, but the team will speak for him and say he was just kidding?"

and Pappelbon, who looks good as a starter, but they don't want to kill his arm to soon (See: Chicago Cubs young pitchers) so they're keeping him in the pen for the rest of the year.

Schilling can't place his fastball.
Arroyo is back to earth (4th/5th type starter).
Wake, oh yeah, I keep forgetting him...

Ugh, pitching wins and the sox don't have it.

Foulke is supposed to be back Thursday, but I heard the sox are delaying someone and might just shut him down for the seaoson, but I didn't hear who.

So, do the White Sox have enough bats so they don't loose 2-1 every game?

Dragon 08-30-2005 07:50 PM

Yeah, I've been looking forward to Schilling's starts. The Yankees chance to gain some ground.

Of course, cause there's no chance he could turn it around and there's no way a team can win without one pitcher.

Really, you know your stuff, but you're simply talking out your butt because you don't like schilling.

VonErich Lives 08-30-2005 07:57 PM

Only reason I don't count out the Sox or Yanks are they both have good pitchers and hitters who are slumping and they "could" break out.

Also, the only team with dominating pitching seems to be the White Sox, but I'm not sure they have enough hitting to put runs on the board.

If he returns to 2004 form I would probably pick them to win the AL (I still think the Cardinals are best team in MLB), but I don't see that happening. What I'm saying is that if the Curt Schilling we've seen since his return from the DL is the same one come October, I can't see the Red Sox winning it. They're rotation would be Clement-Schilling-Arroyo-Wells with Wakefield emergency starter (I assume), I don't think those other 3 guys are good enough to counter Schilling's crappiness. In a seven game series, Schilling would get 2 starts, and would most definately lose both if he is in the form of right now. That doesn't leave much room for error for the other 3 guys, none of which have been consistent all season long.

Again this is all if Schilling pitches the same way in October as he is now. I realize there are still about 6 starts (if he makes it that far) for him to figure it out. But if he doesn't I do not like their chances.

I would have so much more respect for Schilling if he would come out tomorrow and tell Francona he is done for the season, and let them work with the 4 man playoff rotation of Clement-Arroyo-Wakefield-Wells. I think he's too much of an egomaniac to do what is best for the team and is more focused on proving people wrong.

Go D'Rays.

RoXer 08-31-2005 01:11 AM

David Wells got called to the commishers office lol

A lot of the shit he said was right tho, pretty fucked up he got six games for what he did when you think about. Kenny Rogers hits a camera man 3 times, 13 games. Dudes use 'roids, 10 games. Somebody can read Wells' lips and he gets 6 games? Fucking ridiculous. Bud Selig is awful. I dont even know how people can take him serious.

Lotus 08-31-2005 12:35 PM

Yeah, Selig is a piece of shit. At least he's coming to San Jose next week. Maybe we'll finally get a team.

My favorite thing in baseball today is probably the look on K-Rod's face when gives up a home run and is unable to do his stupid fist-pump that he does every K.

Where is that clown who said the Angels were the best team in the AL a while back? That was ridiculous then and is even sillier now.

LOL, same here. I was saying that to myself last night and today at school I was pissed because I was watching the video of the homer and the camera didn't show him after he gave it up. I love watching him suffer

VonErich Lives 08-31-2005 04:33 PM

So, Schilling has a bad first two, and then the last 4 looked like the schilling of last year, he was on fire.

Now, you need to understand why the fans of boston love curt so much.

1) He comes here, sox win a WS and he came here and all he talked about was wanting to break the curse and beat the yanks.

2) He is outspoken, fans here respect that.

3) He screws up his ankle, can barely walk, a doctor tries sewing a tendon in place on a cadaver and Schilling says "Ok, if you think that might work, go for it", has his tendon stitched in place and goes out and throws a great game. Nothing like that has happened in baseball since Kirk Gibsons pinch hit HR when he could barely round the bases.

The Miz 08-31-2005 06:21 PM

I understand why Boston fans like him. I don't like him, and hope he sucks the rest of the season and has to retire.

YOUR Hero 08-31-2005 10:14 PM

I went to that game last night, Felix pitched better. Too bad our hitters suck.

The Miz 09-02-2005 10:41 PM

6-0 A's, Torre took out Leiter in the first. Oakland gave Leiter a standing O and A-Rod mouthed "motherfuckers". Now Giambi is up and is getting booed as well as some Balco chants.

and they tossed you for that? That's really dumb, I could see swearing or calling his family names and such...

and yeah, I know about the replacement players (sorry, in some cases I can't use the term "scab") Sox have had a few, Daubach, Merloni and now Kevin Millar, none are allowed in the MLBPA and I'm pretty sure you won't find Millar's name on the WS trophy or other MLBPA stuff (shirts and such) because of that.

VonErich Lives 09-15-2005 05:04 AM

17 to go, 2.5 games back...

could come down to the last 3games, everyone laughed at MLB, said it will be decided before then and they ruined a good mid-season rivalry... looks like MLB may have created the best 3 game series to end a season in a long time. Even if the division is decided by then, it could hold the WC hopes on one team.

Thats pretty stupid IMO. Why would they not recognize Milar? I dont get it . He can play baseball obviously. He wouldnt still be in the league if he couldnt. He took an oppurtunity given to him by MLB. Hell he probably never would have gotten in if he hadnt. Just doesnt make since. Maybe you guys can explain to me ?

I could not follow the Nationals if I tried. They show about 1 game for five games they play on UPN which is their regular station. They haven't shown one game from this Mets series, it is on ESPN but it is blacked out here.

They have two radio stations, one is a regular FM station that plays music, and they do some nats games on the other station is not in range for me to pick up which is ridiculous cause I am like 30 miles outside Washington. Its so annoying.

If I understand correctly, any player who crossed the picket line aka "scab" is not allowed to join the MLB player union.

The union basiclly said, you didn't support us and our members, you undercut and tried to (or did for a moment) take a job from out players/members we don't want you and we wont protect you, etc...

I remember stories of Daubach getting the cold sholder and even thrown at in games because of being a "scab".

So, hence Millar isn't part of mechandising and license agreements from the MLBPA unless they work out a side deal. This is true of all scab players.

The only other person I know of that "withdrew" from the MLBPA not banned, is Barry Bonds.

VonErich Lives 09-15-2005 07:05 PM

must admit, a little worried about the Sox.

I think they have the "stuff" to go all the way, the only team I see with "great pitching" is the white sox, but not sure if they have enough and I question if they have the hitting and could drop close games.

That being said, besides great pitching and clutch hitting last year the sox (except for a little ankle thing) avoided the injury bug and had good role players.

Kapler will hurt, schilling and foulke not 100% hurts, and Damon being banged up worries me... the injury big may catch them, which sucks cause I want to see another great playoffs, everyone healthy, everyone top their game. I want to see a game #1 with the CY winning Johnson v. Schilling and so on...

Loose Cannon 09-15-2005 09:10 PM

It's really sad that offense HAS to win games for the Yankees right now down the stretch.

7-5 Yanks in the 6th

The Miz 09-15-2005 09:20 PM

I'm really curious as to why VEL keeps referring to the White Sox as having dominating pitching. Does he watch their games? Buehrle is great but that is about it. Garland and Garcia are above average and Hernandez and Contreras are 2 of the most unpredictable inconsistent pitcher you'll find. The best 2 pitching staffs in the AL are by far Minnesota and Oakland, Minnesota is out of it though.

Speaking of the Chi Sox, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Indians take over that division. They're skating on thin ice.

The best 2 pitching staffs in the AL are by far Minnesota and Oakland, Minnesota is out of it though.

Hence why Minnesota isn't mentioned.

Of the contenders the White Sox have one of the better staffs in the AL, but you can see (or not see) it however you want.

When you go to a five-man rotation, I would say the White Sox are probably the team to beat, but oftentimes it is the three man rotation that you have to reckon with, and I'm just not sold on Garcia or Garland either.

Let's go now A's. now. nownownownownownownow

The Red Sox when the Dodgers over pay for Damon? :p

Although, think Hunter wants his next first game back to be where he got injured?

VonErich Lives 09-16-2005 12:23 PM

As for the White Sox, I haven't looked in a few weeks, but there 5 all had good stats, one of the best stats in the league, that's why I mention them.

But it is true, come playoff time it's a 3 or 4 man rotation.

BCWWF 09-16-2005 02:14 PM

I would hate myself if Torii went to either NYY or Boston. I think he would still be the man on those teams and would be cool playing for them, but there is absolutely nothing they can/or will offer us that is worth taking. Prospects? We don't need any prospects. We have three great hitters in the minors and a slew of pitchers, we need ML hitters. Sure if the Yankees gave us Jeter or Matsui or the Sox gave us Ortiz back o something, but that won't happen and can't happen with our payroll, and even if it did it still probably wouldn't make the Twins a better team.

You know that I am not off base in saying this, if the Twins can pinch some penny's and sign Soriano, we would have to be one of the top contenders for the AL Pennant. Cy, Radke, Silva, and then the two youngs guys will still make up one of the best pitching staffs, we will still have one of the top bullpens, and with a lineup of Stewart-Mauer-Soriano-Morneau-Hunter-Ford-LeCroy-Cuddyer-Punto we would look a whole helluva lot better then we do now. Of course that all relies on Morneau having a full year playing well next year, he is ultimately the reason why we were no good this year. He failed expectations in the second half.

Meat.

Got tickets to the final game of the season between the Yanks and Sox at Fenway. It would be great if this final game knocks the Red Sox out of the playoff spot.

I got that and the game before.

I think everyone secretly hopes it comes down to the last 3 and the non-div winner won't get a wild card.

Although, I must admit, if it comes down to that last game, there's a real good chance I'll sell the tickets, already been offerd over 4x the value.

Dragon 09-16-2005 06:10 PM

Yeah, I can't imagine what that place will be like if that last game determines who makes the playoffs. Either way, if the Sox win it will be crazy, if the Yanks win it will be even crazier.

Haven't been to Fenway in like 5 years either.

BCWWF 09-16-2005 06:31 PM

I personally couldn't give half a shit if both the Yankees and Red Sox make the playoffs this year. That rivalry doesn't matter anymore and the Yankees don't deserve to be in the playoffs with what they've put on the field this year. I would prefer the Indians or the A's, and I don't think I'm alone on that. Another East Coast ALCS is something that people on the East Coast want.

Come on Jays.

Huge comeback underway against the Yankees. Wierd game. Jays were up 3-1 after first inning. Randy Johnson got tossed in the second for argueing balls and strikes. Yankees went up by something like 9 runs. Now the lead is down to 1 run. Bottom of the 7th inning.

WHAT THE TITTY FUCK?! This ump in the Red Sox game is giving all the fucking balls/strikes calls to Boston. Such bullshit. This is reminding me of another time an Oakland team played a Massachusetts team...
