Bills let their coach make the vote, since it affected him most.

So Gailey probably voted against to make his job easier....less of a choice

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-24-2010 12:48 AM

Why does it have to be sudden death? Why not just play another quarter? Or at least a partial quarter or something?

Football is definitely a game that uses a lot of strategy tied into the game clock, I really don't like that element being eliminated when it comes to overtime.

McLegend 03-24-2010 12:58 AM

You don't want to players getting even more beat up by playing another quarter. That can't work.

I always liked the rule.

Reavant 03-24-2010 01:10 AM

They should have just changed the procedure for overtime the same as when the xfl used to start their games

Gonzo 03-24-2010 01:31 AM

The whole point of the sudden death rule was to stop games from ending in a tie, or the frequency of them at least. I've never had a problem with the rule. You lost the coin toss, play some defense and get the ball. Or, win the game in the 4 quarters allotted in regulation.

There never will be a perfect solution, and there will always be complaints about whatever rule is in place from some camp. I don't even see why they're fucking with it to be honest.

It doesn't have to be a "full" quarter. Even if it is, how often does OT happen and how much more beat up are the players really going to get? I think they could manage.

Teams do things in overtime they would never do during a regular game unless they were in the situation at the end of a half/game because of the game clock.

I just don't like such a drastic change between regulation and overtime. It's almost like its a completely different game when it comes first score sudden death.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-24-2010 01:35 AM

I guess the game could continually get tied but I don't know. I just find their current system to be pretty odd. Just doesn't seem to fit the game of football.

I also don't get the college rule, why totally eliminate kick-off and returns? Special teams is 1/3 of the game

OT couldn't be an extra full quarter or even half quarter. Why? It'd take too long. A regular 4Q game often will run over the usual time given to it by CBS/FOX, let alone a game that had to play one or more extra quarters. And even if it's a shorter OT period wouldn't mean anything. The last 2 minutes of a half are the longest part of a game.

Plus, the NFLPA would never agree to it because, as someone else said, it gives the players more time to be injured. Bullshit to me, you make hundreds of thousands to millions and millions of dollars, just play the fucking game I play for free and get hurt doing at my own expense. Bullshit, but their reasoning nonetheless.

So with the Eagles admitting to listening to trades for McNabb, I wonder if he'll get pussy hurt and start crying and demanding a trade?

SammyG 03-24-2010 06:26 PM

Almost Bradford time!

Heros Welcome 03-25-2010 12:26 AM

This should make for a great Hard Knocks!

Quote:

The Jets are going Hollywood.

The Jets will be the subject of the popular HBO series "Hard Knocks," which chronicles the behind-the-scenes lives of players on an NFL team as they go through training camp, the Daily News confirmed Wednesday.

The team released a statement Wednesday trumpeting a "major media announcement" at noon Thursday at their training facility in Florham Park, featuring owner Woody Johnson, GM Mike Tannenbaum and coach Rex Ryan.

The series is sure to produce great theater for HBO viewers, considering the characters on the Jets, including Ryan, probably the most colorful coach in the NFL and marquee quarterback Mark Sanchez, lockdown cornerback Darrelle Revis and future Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson.

It's likely the Jets will return to Cortland in upstate New York for camp, which begins in late July.

As was first reported in the Daily News in January, the Jets were the lead candidate for the show. HBO sports boss Ross Greenburg and Tannenbaum had discussed the possibility throughout the 2009 season.

HBO would not comment on Tuesday, but at the recent Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Greenburg - a longtime Jets fan - was joined at ringside by Jets owner Woody Johnson and Tannenbaum.

This represents a dramatic change in philosophy for the Jets, who now fancy themselves as a media-friendly organization. Two years ago, under Eric Mangini, they were a clandestine franchise that never would have allowed cameras into their inner sanctum.

Rexy was made for that show.

I dont care how many SB's Ben Roethlisberger wins, he's a rapist in my book.

I love the qoute " The DVD overwrote itself " ...... wrong.

What a fucking creep. And if he isnt suspended, then the NFL is basically racist. They've suspended black people for less.

Gonzo 03-25-2010 02:00 PM

To be honest, it doesn't matter if Roethlisberger is guilty or not. The guy has put himself in situations where he is at least accused of wrong doing. The public perception is pretty much reality and I imagine that the perception of him is poor after these two incidents.

It doesn't shock me that Goodell hasn't done anything yet. He was all over Pacman's ass, but Roethlisberger is the face of the Steelers. We wouldn't want to suspend a player of that magnitude, would we?

I heard on the radio today that the security feed of the night of the alleged assault was copied over by the club by more recent footage. I recall on Mike & Mike that the security tapes copied over on a weekly basis or something of that nature. If they don't have any video, it is all basically "he said, she said" and I don't see how any DA in the country could get a conviction, guilty or not. On top of that, the girl was 20, had a fake ID confiscated in the same establishment weeks prior to this incident, and was intoxicated over a .20 BAC.

Roethlisberger should count his lucky charms on this one.

Tebow wanted to say a prayer before the Wonderlic test.

Someone told him to shut the fuck up.

FearedSanctity 03-25-2010 02:14 PM

When I read about that on PFT the other day I let out a good laugh. I know Tebow means well, but he's got to understand, he's in the minority now. Not everyone will appreciate or care for how open he is about his religion or his opinion on certain issues. He needs to just keep it to himself and move on

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-25-2010 03:48 PM

Is that really true? I've heard it too. Hilarious if it is.

I mean the players must be getting sick of hearing about Tebow too. Not that its his fault he gets so much coverage but I think he could feel some backlash from current players.

FearedSanctity 03-25-2010 03:53 PM

Tebow's denying it happened, but that's typically what someone who gets told to shut the fuck up will do

Skippord 03-25-2010 05:18 PM

I'd like to know who told him to shut up

Reavant 03-25-2010 05:32 PM

fantastic

Emperor Smeat 03-25-2010 10:34 PM

Based on how strict the rules for pre-draft rookies are, Tebow must have been annoying everyone there a lot for a STFU to be used. If the NFL or reporters can't get the name of the guy, it must mean even the NFL officials were upset with him enough to not punish the yeller.

RoXer 03-25-2010 11:09 PM

Or it didn't happen.

CSL 03-25-2010 11:15 PM

Are you trying to say that a journalist potentially altered the truth or maybe even lied about something?

Skippord 03-26-2010 12:45 AM

I wonder if Urban Meyer got some sand in his vagina about that too

McLegend 03-26-2010 01:06 AM

Maybe he thought it was that reporter that told Tebow to Shut the Fuck up

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-26-2010 03:08 AM

This Tim Tebow stuff is unbelievable. It's like a phenomenon or something. It'd probably be a good idea to get a DUI or something to take the edge off, sad to say but that's how fucked our society is lol

Skippord 03-26-2010 03:44 AM

I've heard that Urban Meyer plans on taking off his shirt and wrestling any team's general manager that doesn't draft Tebow

El Fangel 03-28-2010 03:28 AM

Had the whole game explained to be, face to face with someone today.

Helped alot and I look forward to next season :)

SammyG 03-28-2010 03:24 PM

the 65 yard line.

El Fangel 03-28-2010 05:04 PM

I learned that there is no such thing :D

Hanso Amore 03-29-2010 11:49 AM

Ugh

Tim Tebow is in Buffalo for a private workout and went out to dinner with management and Jim Kelly Last night.

Gonzo 03-29-2010 02:15 PM

I feel you Hanso.

If I were a fan of a team like the Bills, I think you have to go the more conventional route with a quarterback. I don't think a team should draft Tebow unless they plan on using him to supplement what they already have.

Innovator 03-29-2010 02:47 PM

Wow, poor Bills fans

CSL 03-29-2010 02:53 PM

He is who they thought he was

Hanso Amore 03-29-2010 04:21 PM

PS Tim Tebows bible thumping clean image is the exact opposite of Jim Kelly, who is infamous for his drinking in Buffalo (Not to mention his chasing of tail despite being married with kids.)

Shit, him and his buddies partying all night cost us at least 2 of the 4 super bowls.
