I enjoyed Havoc 96. Malenko v Mysterio ftw.

First ever WCW PPV I got on VHS though was Halloween Havoc 91 : Chamber of Horrors, when I was at school.

Its so LOL that it's great.

So obviously his travel bag.

Wonder if he lost his title, lol.

World War 3. I like the battle royal matches where everyone is involved in general.

Nightwing 01-21-2011 01:28 PM

Id rather have Santino go after the streak.

Lock Jaw 01-21-2011 01:44 PM

The giant skeleton hands shaking the giant Halloween Havoc pumpkin is the greatest thing in the history of sports entertainment!

World War 3 was also damn good fun, if only for how the cruiserweights would utilize the extra rings earlier in the night.

I'm suprised you didnt say STOP LIVING IN THE PAST!

I always liked the concept of Road Wild. Saturday night, outdoor PPV, huge crowd interactions, good idea. I thought Road Wild 97 was a great card and for some reason I LOVED the match between Hulk Hogan vs Kevin Nash in 99. Of course it was Nash's 10th retirement match he lost but it had a great nostalgia feel to it.

WCW's Thundercage and Triple Cage bottom tiers wobbled worse than any WWE cage I have seen. And the Hell in a Cell, which I know alot of people describe the Thundercage as the Hell in A Cell precursor, is alot sturdier than both the Thundercage and the Triple Cage.

Sting and Ric Flair vs. The Great Muta and Terry Funk (Halloween Havoc, 10/28/89)

Sting, Brian Pillman, and Dustin Rhodes vs. Rick Rude, Steve Austin, and Paul Orndorff (SuperBrawl IV, 2/20/94)
Ric Flair vs. Vader (SuperBrawl IV, 2/20/94)

The rest really sucked...

Agree with all here except Flair vs. Vader and Ill replace it with Flair vs Rhodes (Great American Bash 1986 Tour, Dusty's final NWA World Title win)

:wtf: I thought The Big Show didn't turn on the Corporation until after Mania in 1999 since he debuted in February and was on Vince's side against Austin for those couple of months.

Sad news would be about 1 month later is when Owen Hart died after that show.

Anyways, I really liked the idea of HHH v Taker a few years back as it would be different to the match from WMX7 due to Taker's character. However, I'm not sure it would come off very well now due to the limitations Taker's (and perhaps HHH's) injuries have caused.

Also, this whole "they didn't even mention the streak until the last 4-5 years" is bogus. I watched WM13 the other night and they mentioned Taker being undefeated at Mania then - 14 years ago. Granted the massive hype is more recent but by no means "the last few years".

The Corre

What do you think about Wade Barretts new group?

Are they missing anything or anybody?

I'm interested in seeing the music and the merchandise since there is no leader, I figure they will all use the same music?

The Corre consists of Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel, Ezekiel Jackson, and possibly a Michael Tarver.

Discuss.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-22-2011 09:51 AM

Just need Tarver in there and it will be mint. They'll all use the same awesome music and although the logo is pretty good, not sure how it will translate to t-shirt land.

Also loving Barrett's character. Admitting he made mistakes with Nexus and is rectifying that by not technically "leading" The Corre and giving Gabriel the shot against the WHC instead of himself.

Speaking of that match, I said it in the SD thread, but I love that Gabriel got a load of offense in and held his own against Edge before Corre were involved. It was a rookie mistake from the top that brought Edge back into it. Love Gabriels style.

Jackson is a beast and this will raise his stock. Needed a change, the squashing face wasn't really working.

Finally

Hanging out with a fellow black man. He stepped out to get him and Teddy a couple of grape juices and when he came back, he was down and hurt. I hope the real perpetrators are caught :shifty:

TheAdamEvansFan 01-22-2011 10:08 AM

Barrett said there is no leader, how long will that last? lol

#BROKEN Hasney 01-22-2011 10:21 AM

I think it will unless Zeke leaves. Can't see him wanting to be led if they book him smart.

Gabriel and Slater are easily led anyway, but I'll be glad if they come out of their shell. I'm putting some trust in Noid that Slater was pretty good back in FCW.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-22-2011 10:28 AM

So could it end up being a modern day DX?

DX consisted of no leaders, awesome promos, awesome merchandise, etc.

(When DX had Chyna, Road Dogg, and Billy Gun)

Does The Corree need a woman as an entourage or a manager since they don't have a leader?

Wishbone 01-22-2011 10:44 AM

No the Corre will not be a 'modern' DX :nono: I am enjoying them thow and hope that this goes somewhere interesting.

Evil Vito 01-22-2011 10:56 AM

Slater and Gabriel are good in the ring but SmackDown showed why they need to be kept the fuck away from microphones. Gabriel can't speak in general, and Slater should only speak if he was a comedy heel.

Evil Vito 01-22-2011 10:58 AM

Also, I couldn't help but chuckle how they came out to Barrett's tron at the start of the show. Then Barrett announced they were The Corre. 90 minutes later, and they came out to a brand new tron and mini-tron. Those production guys must work fast. :shifty:

The best part about the name "The Corre" is it literally sounds like a TNA rip-off of the Nexus.

Nightwing 01-22-2011 12:19 PM

They should have just stayed Nexus if you ask me, but same group, different name so whatever works.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-22-2011 12:38 PM

Yeah.. I mean, what was the point of adding Cm Spunk anyways... He already had a heel faction.

LOL.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-22-2011 12:43 PM

That's the point. Punks stable was destroyed on Smackdown and Barrets was on Raw. With the refreshed writing teams, they probably felt this was best.

Rammsteinmad 01-22-2011 12:50 PM

As long as Barrett remains the mouthpiece. This guy is the goods. :y:

XL 01-22-2011 01:43 PM

I don't see how he can be the mouthpiece and not the leader. They'll make a point of having everybody share the promo time.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-22-2011 01:44 PM

Easily, they all speak backstage and come to agreements, but Barrett announces them in the ring. Simples.

#BROKEN Hasney 01-22-2011 03:44 PM

Unless it's obvious from other scenes that there's been a consensus.

I'm off to high-five some company spokesmen for leading the companies. They must be amazed to inherit a company by speaking for them.

You and Nightwing are both sort of right.

When they started, even though they were presented as being on equal footing, Shawn was the defacto leader due to his spot on the card compared to HHH. When Trips took over, he cut a promo talking about how Shawn "dropped the ball", and stated he was building the D-X army and introduced a returning (though yet to be renamed) X-Pac.

Shoot me for remembering that.

dronepool 01-22-2011 04:07 PM

I like them but don't like the logo too much.

Tom Guycott 01-22-2011 04:17 PM

As to the topic at hand, I wish we could have seen a returning Skippy instead of Zeke. Yeah, Zeke fills the role and the need and gets the rub as such, but he wasn't on NXT or involved with the group in any way. Sheffield was a "core" member of Nexus, thus would have made more sense to me. I'm aware of the injury, and my point is that Mr. Jackson seems like he's going to be in some sort of fill-in role and replaced when Skip's foot is 100%. He seems sorta out of place, like when Booker T was trying to join the WWE's nWo (and I don't mean due to race, but more to the fact that the nWo, at it's base, was mostly about the Kliq).

I like the move, but it just sort of seems like it wasn't the original plan. I hope nothing but good comes from this.

whiteyford 01-22-2011 04:44 PM

Im looking forward to the inevitable Nexus/Corre feud, or at least the interaction in the rumble.

TheAdamEvansFan 01-22-2011 05:09 PM

Ok Whitey, if those 2 groups were to feud, who would be the face group?

Why?

All I'm gonna say it's about damn time SD had a good stable it's been long overdue sure there have been trios but it's not the same. I'm already enjoying this group more the than New Nexus and I feel their name is appropriate as their member that cross over were the most vital from the previous group. Tarver's addition is only inevtible and I wouldn't be suprised to see Skip Sheffield added as well plus Kaitlyn as she hasn't done anything as of late so see could be added as well and now that I think of it heh it's too bad Kaval didn't stick around maybe they could have used him.

Would be better if he just started yelling in foreign language.

Unless I'm forgetting something else that was huge on Raw, that moment had to be #2 for best moments of RAW in 2010 (#1 being the debut of Nexus).

1st segment in the 2nd attempt of a Monday Night War as well when TNA tried and later failed with the weekly live Monday shows.

I hope Michael Tarver joins, and also wins the World Title. I love that man.

Why?

Don't think there would have to be a face group, it would be an interbrand feud so that gives it an out. Don't see both groups lasting till Bragging Rights/Survivor series but it would be a couple of ready booked matches if they did.

Michael Tarver looks like a star. I didn't really enjoy him in the ring, or especially on the mic (although he wasn't bad), but he has a damn good star look. If he becomes more and more solid, I could see myself getting into him.

yeah he has the heel vibe he can just stand there and get heat, he was great in the background when teddy was laid out.

It's finally good to see original (non-rehashed) stables again in WWE

I don't know why, but I always kinda chuckle when I spot one of the cameramen on RAW or SD!.

Me too. Plus, he did a finisher on Raw once that was sort of slick. It was like a reverse snap powerslam.

I could see him becoming the member of Corre who does the dirty work that the group doesn't want to do. Like, I'd love for Corre to pretend to be a face group when Teddy Long is around, only to have Tarver as this sort of third party contractor who does all their dirty work.

I also love how Alberto Del Rio seems to interrupt every promo on every show. Love that man.

Was looking for a Chavo Guerrero/Flash Funk mashup. DID NOT FIND IT.
