Brady has hired Jeffrey Kessler for his legal team to fight the suspension. Not the first time he has represented Brady. Among the cases Kessler has litigated:

McNeil vs. NFL (led to the creation of free agency)
Belichick vs. NFL (led to Belichick getting out of his Jets contract to join the Patriots)
Brady vs. NFL (led to the 2011 lockout ending)

So yeah...odds are looking pretty good that Brady will be suiting up Week 1

Ruien 05-13-2015 02:07 PM

Hope Brady wins just to see everyone's reaction.

Emperor Smeat 05-13-2015 02:45 PM

NFL cleared the Dolphins of tampering charges in regards to signing Ndamukong Suh.

Even though both sides had an deal in place prior to the start of free agency, league didn't see it as worthy of being punished for tampering.

In the Patriots' official rebuttal they said that McNally refers to himself as "the deflator" in his texts because he's a big guy trying to lose weight.

Okay, regardless of how you feel about the Brady suspension I think only the most brainwashed of Pats fans can think that's legitimate.

Emperor Smeat 05-14-2015 04:23 PM

NFLPA filed an appeal on behalf of Tom Brady. Just the usual claims of there really needs to be a neutral arbitrator when it comes to appeals and NFL being inconsistent when it comes to handing out punishments.

Emperor Smeat 05-14-2015 04:29 PM

Seems like nobody in the NFL was interested in the wacky idea the Colts had for extra point and two point convesions. If a change happens, its going to be based on one of these three proposals.

Quote:

1. The New England Patriots submitted a proposal that would have the ball snapped from the 15-yard line if a team decides to kick the extra point -- making the kick a 33-yard attempt. The two-point conversion is unaffected here.

2. The Philadelphia Eagles submitted a proposal that's similar in that the extra point would be moved to the 15-yard line, but there are two distinct differences: The two-point conversion would be attempted from the 1-yard line as opposed to the 2-yard line, and the defense would be able to score on a turnover. That includes on potentially blocked extra points. Safeties award two points.

3. The last proposal is similar to the Eagles' proposal and comes from the competition committee. It's the same as Philadelphia's proposal save for the two-point conversion, which would still be played from the two-yard line if this one were to pass. Safeties award one point.
Was mentioned on Twitter but the new kicking changes will affect non-dome and cold weather teams a lot more especially late in the season and playoffs.

I like the idea of the defense being able to score on a 2 point turnover.

Tony Romo joined twitter.

And he immediately got bombarded with interception jokes

Despite the fact that he gets intercepted far less than most quarterbacks.

NFL possibly backing down a bit on the penalties handed out to the Pats for Deflategate.

Main reason is them being a bit worried the Pats might actually sue because of the stiff punishments being tied more to unrelated stuff and the report itself clearing the team. Also don't want the issue dragging on any longer past this week's owners meeting.

Ruien 05-18-2015 11:29 PM

Really love how a few people on ESPN say that if he did not lie that he would only received the $30,000 fine. A lie, potential lie at that, is really worth a 4 game suspension? Lol

Pats decided against the idea of appealing or suing the league in regards to their Deflategate punishments. Whole thing was settled in a real "Hug It Out" moment.

NFL ended up taking a hybrid of the Pats and Eagles suggestions for post-touchdown scoring plays.

PATs will now be kicked at the 15 yard line while 2-pt conversions will stay at the 2 yard line except defenses can now score off of turnovers.

SlickyTrickyDamon 05-19-2015 08:31 PM

Can they score on turnovers on the PAT attempt or only on the 2 Point Conversion?

Kraft didn't acknowledge any wrong doing in the non-defense. Just that it's time to get back to the 32 and one team's issues can't take up all the time.

Brady seems to be left high and dry though. Not cool. Still not over. They need to trim the suspension or eliminate it.

#1-norm-fan 05-19-2015 09:06 PM

I kinda hate any rule that directly and drastically changes how points are scored like this. It messes with the consistency of the game over the years. The basic ideas should stay in place from year to year. There was nothing wrong with extra points the way they were.

#1-norm-fan 05-19-2015 09:12 PM

Also, kickers are suddenly more valuable but less likely to break scoring records and such over a career.

#1-norm-fan 05-19-2015 09:16 PM

"NFL vice president of officiating Dean Blandino said teams could change their attempt decision if a penalty occurred. For instance if a team chose to go for two points and were called for an offensive penalty they could then decide to kick a 1-point try."

So there's no reason not to always line up to go for 2 and see how the defense lines up/try to draw them offsides. Seems like a mess.

Ruien 05-20-2015 02:28 PM

They would probably get docked the same amount of yards from the penalty making the 1-point try rather hard to obtain.

Really hate when players want to break the rules to go to a certain spot. Also hate how NFL teams can cut majority of the people on the roster at no cost to them.
