From IGN.com
Additions for Week of March 31 * Jonathan Coulton "Still Alive" (free!) That's it? |
March 31, 2008 - "Still Alive," the Jonathan Coulton song that plays over the credits of Valve's Portal, will be available as a free Rock Band download in April, Harmonix, MTV Games and Valve announced today.
The song will be available for the Xbox 360 on April 1 and for the PlayStation 3 on April 17. Harmonix VP of product development Greg LoPiccolo said the free "Still Alive" download is a "thank you" to Rock Band fans for their support of the music game. Including GLADoS' anthem, Rock Band boasts more than 70 downloadable tracks, in addition to the 58 included on the disk. |
That song is horrible. Basement dwellers who spend all day playing online video games love songs like that.
|
I downloaded the free track, but haven't played it. Is it really that bad?
|
Yeah it sucks a big one. I deleted it.
|
If they really wanted to thank us they should have given us free Metallica.
|
I like it.
|
If you haven't played Portal, it makes no sense whatever. Sure its for nerds, but it's free. So take it or don't.
|
So next dlc is the OXM pack.
Seems like thry are taking a break of sorts. Can't really blame them, as they've released more dlc than anyone else in the time their game has been out. They deserve a rest, imo. |

I checked out a video of the guitar part at least. Doesn't look bad at all. I would even go as far as to say it looks fun.
And I loved portal of course, so that goes hand in hand. But still, looks fun to play. |
I like the glaDOS song. And I've never played Portal. Fun on guitar.

Where do you get those drums?
|
It is a mod he did. I have noticed that a lot of the good drummers that post videos on youtube seem to use modded drum kits to alter the bass kick, and how the pad hits so that neither of them double hit on accident. And so they are smoother or more realistic.
Cause really, the bass pedal on the stock drum set is pretty uncomfortable and somewhat difficult to use right. |
And frail.

It's hard to Overstate my satisfaction

So, I'm GLaD
I got burned :( |

Wow the UK are getting screwed with this:
EU Rock Band Priced and Dated Good news for rich 360 owners, not so great if you're poor or have a PS3. by Alex Simmons, IGN UK UK, April 8, 2008 - Electronic Arts has at long last settled on an official European release date for Rock Band. However, don't get too excited unless you're an Xbox 360 owner – the May 23 launch on Microsoft's console will doubtless please 360 owners, but those hoping to jam on PlayStation 3, PS2 and Wii will have to wait until later in the summer. Initially it will only be available in the UK, France and Germany too, with other European territories to follow. Perhaps more disappointing is the price: unlike the US, which received a Special Edition that includes the game, a Fender Strat guitar, the drum kit and a mic, all for $169 – Europe will only get an Instrument Edition priced £129.99 / 169 Euros, including the three peripherals but not the game – which, bought separately, will set you back £49.99 / 69.99 Euros. So, if you want the proper Rock Band experience, the minimum you're going to have to shell out is around £180 / 240 Euros. Quite why EA has decided to release the Instrument Pack without the game is anyone's guess, although it's likely retailers will bundle the two together, if not at launch then hopefully shortly after. In addition, wireless guitars will be available separately for the princely sum of £59.99 / 79.99 Euros, with standalone drum kits setting you back £69.99 / 89.99 Euros. There is some good news though. In addition to the 58 songs featured in the US game, Europe will get eight news tracks from English, French and German bands, all bundled on the disc: - Beetlebum (Blur) - Rock 'n' Roll Star (Oasis) - Hysteria (Muse) - Manu Chao (Les Wamaps) - New Wave (Playmo) - Hier Kommt Alex (Die Toten Hosen) - Perfekte Welle (Juli) - Countdown to Insanity (H-Block X) What's more, the 70-plus downloadable tracks already available in US will be waiting for European rockers come May 27, priced 160 MS points each. Plus, US players can get their mitts on the eight European tracks around the same time. Quick recap then: if you want to the ultimate Rock Band experience, with two guitars and every song at your fingertips, be sure to put aside £330 / 430 Euros. On a positive note, going forward, Europe will have access to new downloadable songs at the same time as the US. So what do you think of the price? And PS3 owners, are you peeved enough to go out and buy a 360 because you can't wait any longer? Let us know in the comments below. |
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay go fuck yourselves EA
|
LOL £330 for a game, fuck off.
|
Yeah EA can go fuck themselves with this one. I won't be purchasing unless they seriously reconsider that price.
|
LOL. I don't care. I got my wireless guitar on the way. :D
|
No, I mean, seriously, I'd have more sympathy for European gamers if their economy wasn't so goddamn strong compared to ours. Boo Hoo, I have to pay 300 bucks for a game (give or take), even though I can get a job that pays actual money, have standards of living, and don't have to pay ten bucks for bread.
My heart bleeds. |
Cannot wait for those "exclusive" songs to hit as DLC.
Honestly, I'd pay for another oasis pack. The first is mad fun. |
