It could be original DI, I mean theres a point I made somewhere a few days ago about how Mrs Hawking said 'the island was constantly shifting' during the time the survivors were on it, yet there were no flashes, nosebleeds AND regular or at least ONE food/supply crate drop was made in season 2, from Dharma. So someone, somewhere knew where the Island was at the time and most notable, probably oblivious to the face Dharma were wiped out. I think Mikhail would've been responsible for the communications to keep the ruse that Dharma were still in control.

Another thing I can't shake, Ben looked really pissed off when Desmond turned the fail-safe key/the button wasn't pressed. So we can assume he DID actually press the button when Locke was caught under the blast door in season 2. So assuming he was pissed off that the blast would a) wipe out all their communications b) be dangerous and c) make the island visable (although he might not of known this), why did he simply leave Kelvin and Radzinski down the hatch?

Hanso Amore 04-20-2009 05:10 PM

Yeah, good point on the hatch. Im sure he knew someone had to do it, but why not have your own people? Why trust that Kelvin and later Desmond would do it?

Corporate CockSnogger 04-30-2009 10:11 AM

Really good episode there.

Faraday :(

Loose Cannon 04-30-2009 10:34 AM

yea, what the fuck. I hope he still appears on the show because he is my current fav character. It was kind of foreshadowing when Farraday said "anyone of us can die."

ClockShot 04-30-2009 11:52 AM

Pretty good ep. Answered some questions we already knew.

However, no Ben. No fun.

Hanso Amore 04-30-2009 12:18 PM

Like the one guy who knows what the fuck is going on dies.

We better find out why he came back, and what he was doing in Ann Arbor...and what the fuck Ann Arbor is.

Corporate CockSnogger 04-30-2009 03:38 PM

Yeah after the episode I was all "yeah we found out shit loads just then" then I realised it was all stuff we pretty much knew anyway but they were confirmed.

Like Widmore being Faraday's father, Widmore being the one behind the fake Oceanic 815 (which I thought we found out a long time ago tbh), and the swan button being used to discharge the energy and not as an experiment testing people.

Still a good episode though, but I just think that next season is gonna be a clusterfuck of explanations for a whole lot of things.

The Destroyer 04-30-2009 03:39 PM

I'm assuming Ann Arbor, Michigan.

I just hope by some miracle he's not actually dead, but he didn't seem to be moving in that last shot. :(

Knew Jughead was going to factor into it somehow, and nice to get a bit more insight into why exactly the Swan ended up as it did.

thedamndest 04-30-2009 04:30 PM

I thought he said Ann Arbor is where the DI had their facilities and he was researching them.

Right. They have said that a bunch. But what exactly is the role of Ann Arbor. I want to know more about the DI, and who is pulling the strings. What was he researching in Ann Arbor etc.

So Daniels Parents were Others, Charlotte lived with the DI, Miles dad is Cheng, and Frank was supposed to be the pilot. We finally get some closure on why the freighter peeps were chosen.

Hanso Amore 04-30-2009 05:02 PM

Anyone else ever wonder this?

You only see like 10 houses at the Dharma barracks. Everyone lives alone.

Yet they have like hundreds of workers and members and shit.

Loose Cannon 04-30-2009 05:07 PM

lol yea.

I don't know how you guys can remember all this shit. I totally forget everything and then just read this thread to help me remember.

I am really going to have to watch the whole entire series straight through one of these days.

The Destroyer 04-30-2009 05:08 PM

I always got the feeling Frank was chosen because he knew something was up with the wreck of Oceanic 815 that Widmore faked - sending him off on the freighter was probably a good way to get him out of the way as far as Widmore was concerned, even if Frank didn't actually know who had faked the wreckage. That and he got a good pilot out of it.

Maybe Keamy and co had instructions to get rid of him after they had gotten their hands on Ben, who knows?

Loose Cannon 04-30-2009 05:14 PM

tell me again why Daniel, Miles and co were sent to the island in the first place?

XL 04-30-2009 06:47 PM

Farraday has a background in physics/time and space, something which Widmore knew would be useful/needed on the island.

Charlotte was some kind of archiologist (remember the scene with her finding the Dharma polar bear?) but perhaps more importantly had spent time on the island before.

Miles can communicate with the dead - again a useful tool on the island, and of course was born there.

As for Frank, I think Destroyer's take on it is pretty much accurate. Maybe tie in the idea of destiny - Frank should have ended up on the island in the first place after all.

Requiem 04-30-2009 06:54 PM

Not to mention all of them have direct ties to the island. With exception of Frank. Miles is the son of Dr. Chang, the man who -discovered- the island's properties. Faraday is Widmore's son, and is one of the few who understands the island. Charlotte was on the island as a child.. etc..

The Destroyer 04-30-2009 07:21 PM

I seem to have turned into a giant Lost nerd recently.

I'm still torn on whether this is a good or a bad thing. :-\

RP 05-01-2009 08:25 AM

I agree with Bill Simmons. Matthew Fox is really mailing it in this season. That or they've really killed his charachter.

The Destroyer 05-01-2009 10:06 AM

I think he's meant to be mailing it in - he's gone from the leader of the survivors to a janitor who gets ordered around by Sawyer and every other member of the Dharma Initiative you care to mention after spending years off the island as a messed up oxy addict. Of course he's going to have changed.

I can see him getting back to more like normal now the shit has begun to hit the fan though.

Requiem 05-01-2009 10:14 AM

Especially if there's a chance to undo everything as Faraday thinks. I think Jack kinda had a little ray of hope when he heard that. He might not know what to think right now, but I think once it really sinks in, he is going to take over and get things done.

ties in with the course correcting stuff we've been hearing about since season 3. Frank was supposed to be on the island and finally ended up there...possibly now for good.

Hanso Amore 05-01-2009 10:50 AM

I think Jack is just enjoying not having everyone need and rely on him, for once he can just be another guy.

XL 05-01-2009 11:24 AM

So, how does everyone see it going?

Will they carry out Farraday's plan thus stopping the events in Season 1 - 4 from happening or not?

Remember that if none of it ever happens none of them ever really meet or become friends. Will Jack be able to let go of Kate? Will Sawyer wanna go back to being the con artist he once was having come so far in terms of personal development? Will Kate wanna return to being on the run/a prisoner? Or will stopping The Incident completely change things in this "alternative" future!?

The Destroyer 05-01-2009 11:34 AM

It would be a cheap way out if they did, to be honest. And something like that is more likely to be at the end of the series, rather than the second to last season.

Although it would also cause a massive paradox, so who knows?

XL 05-01-2009 07:24 PM

Well, yeah, I was talking about "in the end" rather than the end of this season. And, yeah, it kinda would feel like a letdown.

RoXer 05-01-2009 07:49 PM

Who says carrying out Faraday's plan's is what is going to STOP the past events from happening.

Maybe it's what will sstart them.

You just blew my mind.

Danny Electric 05-03-2009 08:16 PM

So anyone think that maybe Jack was told by Elouise what would happen to Farady on the island and he just went along with Faraday's plan. All to get himself back into the limelight again, this being his 'destiny'.

Requiem 05-07-2009 01:43 AM

This season is fucking awesome.

Lock Jaw 05-07-2009 01:59 AM

There have been zero lulls this season. It all feels like its gone by so quickly as a result.

LaLa 05-07-2009 02:00 AM

Season finale already, that sucks then it will be another year and it will be over. :(

El Fangel 05-07-2009 03:51 AM

Fuck Lost, I am so sick of waiting for more questions

Its a 2:1 fucking ratio! :@

For every question you get answered, 2 spawn

Its an immortal hydra of questions

:'(

This is all too much

:)

Requiem 05-07-2009 03:52 AM

Huh? They have answered a TON of questions this season without creating more. Honestly, people make this show out to be WAY more complicated than it really is. Yeah, it's complex, and yeah there are some unanswered questions still, but a LOT of it makes sense if you pay attention.

El Fangel 05-07-2009 03:54 AM

Maybe its just my impatience ok, fuck. I swear I am going to burn things if they skip a week again.

The last bit of this episode, the last line that Locke says, makes me angry, because now I have to wait a fucking week.

Requiem 05-07-2009 03:55 AM

They do that every week though. And they are not skipping a week. Next week is the season finale. Pretty sure it's two hours, because it starts an hour earlier.

El Fangel 05-07-2009 03:57 AM

Wait, hold on there is only 16 episodes? I thought there were 22...

I am going to have to wait to the fall...

:'(

Corporate CockSnogger 05-07-2009 08:30 AM

17 episodes in season 5 and 6. They're showing the last two episodes together next week like they have done every season.

CharismaInjection 05-07-2009 09:17 AM

If Ben has never seen Jacob, what was 'The Man Behind The Curtain' all about??

RoXer 05-07-2009 10:37 AM

Richard would be the "oldest" right?

And by "oldest" I guess I mean "youngest".

Like say he's from the year 2100 and found his way to the island when it was in the 1800's or something. And he would "never age" because he would never catch up to his "actual time" or whatever.

I dunno. Just thinking out loud. Kinda pointless since next week's episode is the backstory on him anyway.

ClockShot 05-07-2009 10:39 AM

SPOILER: show
Pretty sweet episode last night. Liked the bit where Locke tells Alpert to go and heal him at the plane.

I've had enough of Kate. Getting sick and tired of her switching sides every single week (and as I have been reading around several tv sites, so are the critics). Either kill her off or chain her to either Sawyer or Jack and let her run with them.

"We'll buy Microsoft. We'll bet the Cowboys in the '78 Super Bowl. We'll be rich." I honestly thought Sawyer would turn around at the dock.
