Why is Fischer in such demand right now? If he was that good of a coach still wouldn't he have gotten a job before this season?

Supreme Olajuwon 01-07-2012 05:07 PM

He was only fired last January. Lots of coaches take a year off after leaving a gig.

Chiefs set to keep Romeo Crennel as the coach for next season which means Josh McDaniels now is very likely to return to the Patriots as the offense coordinator. McDaniels was rumored to be in the running for the Chiefs job until O'Brien decided to leave the Pats for Penn State.

Rams were more worried about McDaniels becoming a head coach after the season ended and didn't bother to try to lock him up to return next season since Fisher wants to bring his own staff to the Rams if he goes there.

Droford 01-07-2012 05:50 PM

I wonder if the Chiefs still had to interview a minority candidate even though they kept one as the coach anyway?

Droford 01-07-2012 05:52 PM

ruhoh

Nope, if a minority candidate is the only one interviewed it's already in compliance.

The Rooney Rule is pretty stupid tbh. There was a time where it might have made some sense when whites dominated the coaching positions, but now that there are a pretty large amount of black coaches (head coaches, coordinators, and assistants) I'm not sure it's really needed. Everybody points to the Steelers with Mike Tomlin even though the Rooneys have gone on record of saying they were always going to interview Tomlin...he was not a "token" interview.

Almost wonder if Perry Fewell is gonna get a million interviews this offseason just like last year solely because teams have to meet the requirements.

SlickyTrickyDamon 01-07-2012 07:26 PM

Equality Opportunity shouldn't have to clearly defined in this rule. It's the law.

D Mac 01-07-2012 07:30 PM

Nice job Supreme.

It was always a stupid rule. If there are 0 black head coaches in the league or 32, it's a stupid rule.

Love both teams, but TEXANS

But now of course this just means if Denver can win they have to go to New England instead :-\

No, they weren't. It was pretty much a given that Ken Whisenhunt was going to be the next head coach when Cowher left, but days before they were set to make it formal, Whiz went and signed with 'Zona. Until that moment, Tomlin was most definitely a token.

nope

Supreme Olajuwon 01-07-2012 11:33 PM

making the playoffs with a team many predicted to go 0-16 is nothing to kill yourself over

now finishing in last place in a terrible division, that may be grounds

so have fun

Evil Vito 01-07-2012 11:45 PM

Lions may have had a chance in this one if their defense was capable of making a tackle. Saints/Niners next week should be interesting.

#1-norm-fan 01-07-2012 11:49 PM

This is one of the worst defensive performances I have ever seen.

owenbrown 01-07-2012 11:54 PM

Thanks for coming, Detroit

or catch a fucking ball

#1-norm-fan 01-07-2012 11:59 PM

Detroit should have just gone onside kick after every score. Worst case scenario, NO gets their TD quicker so they can have the ball back.

#1-norm-fan 01-08-2012 12:02 AM

Christ on a cracker, DEFENSE you dumb shits.

They had a huge chance in the 1st half to potentially have a bigger lead but couldn't take advantage of the turnovers or poor start by Brees. Lions best hope was either a huge half-time lead or at least match the Saints on scoring and neither occurred.

Lions defense wasn't able to completely shut down a top team this season so it was just a matter of time before Brees got hot.

Bring it, Krispy. It is time for war.

Hanso Amore 01-08-2012 12:31 AM

LOL to take it back, Gameday 98

Use3d to hate the pulled hamstring shit.

I remember playing as Carolina and seeing the backup tim Biakabutuka get hurt, and literally be playing my 5th string HB. But the Juke was so strong even they could run for 100.

DaveBrawl 01-08-2012 12:47 AM

I had one franchise where I used to put Kordell Stewart in every position I could, even edited his kicking power and made him punter once. If they were going to call him Slash I was going to have him live up to the name.
