Find it hard to believe the Ravens have played 3 games in New England in a year.

this game shoulda been in Baltimore!

That was horrible.

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 03:29 PM

Why is the Saints/TB game blacked out in TB?? I mean, they are one of the best teams as far as record in the NFC and you have the defending SB Champs, who also happen to be a divisional opponent coming to town.. They can't sell 50,000 tix??

OssMan 10-17-2010 05:09 PM

How are you gonna try a 60 yard pass vs a 60 yard FG

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 05:11 PM

So, everything happened in the Saints favor today..

-Saints beat TB
-ATL bout to lose ( )
-Bears lost

Back to square one in the NFC..

Evil Vito 10-17-2010 05:26 PM

That game was WAY closer than it had any right to be. But whatever, hold on to that first place tie.

Dodge was actually surprisingly good after that first fuck up.

Emperor Smeat 10-17-2010 05:46 PM

:D what a game Ravens-Patriots ended up becoming, especially in OT.

The last punt by the Pats and then a devastating penalty by the Ravens killed the Ravens momentum on their last drive. Ended up giving great field position for the Pats and they took advantage of the situation.

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 05:55 PM

Great vintage Patriots victory this week. Branch seems to be a great pick up so far.

Well since he's become a starter he leads the leagues in recieving yards and catches or something, the man is a beast. I'd put him in the top 3 for sure.

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 06:35 PM

He is like Lance Moore with more spotlight..

Lance Moore isnt in Austins league, sorry Krisp.

I'd put Austin up there with Johnson.

He could be.. Look at his stats.. No one is gonna be a SUPERSTAR WR in the Saints Offense cause of how much they spread the ball around, but Lance Moore has been money every time he gets play time.. He is fast and makes spectacular catches, and is good running after the catch.. If Brees spotlighted him like Romo does Austin, his numbers would be just as good..

Romo looks to spread the ball, he has Witten, Williams, Bryant, Felix Jones and Austin. Austin just gets open more often than not, and it sure-handed.

That's like saying Jeremy Shocky could be as good as Antonio Gates, but Rivers likes to throw to Gates, thats just crazy.

Austin has matched Moore's entire career output in a single season.

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 07:07 PM

You named 4 other threats Romo throws to.. Brees threw TD passes to like 11 players last year..

Supreme Olajuwon 10-17-2010 07:10 PM

Love that Randy Moss hates the Cowboys because they made him lie to his mom. That's kind of endearing in a way. Go get em Randy!

I named the main threats, my bad man, Breese throws TDs to anyone whos open, so I'm sure in that system, if Moore was as good as Austin he would certainly put up some numbers. Weather or not Austin is being spotlighted by Romo is irrelevant really, it's like your trying to take something away from because he can get open and catch passes.

I guess Marvin Harrison was just average WR who Peyton Manning liked to throw to. It doesn't matter how many players caught a TD, all that proves is Breese throws to whoevers open.

IC Champion 10-17-2010 07:17 PM

God damn Adrian Peterson.

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 07:17 PM

No..

I'm not trying to diminish what Austin has done, I'm just saying that he reminds me of Lance Moore.. It's just that he is a "spotlight" reciever while Moore is a role player.. Do I think he should be higher on the depthchart than Colston, Meachum, and Henderson?? Maybe.. But I am not gonna question Sean Payton..

If Lance Moore was on ANY other team, he'd be top ten in stats every year..

IC Champion 10-17-2010 07:18 PM

Well only time will tell.

Supreme Olajuwon 10-17-2010 07:18 PM

Lance Moore is not in Miles Austin's league.

Miles Austin is not in Andre Johnson's league.

This is incredibly obvious. Why are any of you trying to argue differently?

IC Champion 10-17-2010 07:19 PM

Miles Austin is definetly in Andre Johnson's league.

No he's not. You might think so, and you're more than welcome to think that way, but your opinion is based on what jersey each player is wearing.

And you can try to argue that it's not based on your fan allegiances, but I wont' believe you.

Jersey has nothing to do with, but I wont waste my time anymore than.

IC Champion 10-17-2010 07:27 PM

And in the last 16 games Austin has outgained every other reciver in the league.

Maybe because Roy Williams is shit and Dez Bryant is a rookie??

IC Champion 10-17-2010 07:37 PM

Williams is tearing it up this year, and Witten and Crayton were on the team.

Kris P Lettus 10-17-2010 07:38 PM

Witten is an awesome TE but he'll never have the numbers as a number 1 WR..

Crayton is a role player..

I would take Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wayne, Brandon Marshall, Calvin Johnson, and probably Randy Moss over Austin. I'd put Austin in the next tier of receivers with Roddy White, Greg Jennings, etc.

Austin's very good. But he's not elite.

LOL how does that make sense? You're a homer arguing about your team's player. I'm talking about the entire league and haven't mentioned my team once. Nice try, babe.

Droford 10-17-2010 07:59 PM

Cowboys are done! Waiting for the epic implosion..

IC Champion 10-17-2010 08:00 PM

I said he was probably top 3, and based on his play in the last year you can argue that he is. But it's not going to matter because he plays for my team and you're going to view my opinion as biased no matter what. You pretty much stated it from the beginning.

As bad as the Chargers have been, the rest of the AFC West has been horrible besides the initial 3-0 start by the Chiefs. Last place Chargers just 1-1.5 games behind from 1st place.

I'd feel worse for them if my team wasn't in the midst of a meltdown, I was expecting them to contend for a playoff spot with the Chargers no longer beign what they were.

They are. The problem is, aside from this game because I didn't see the first 3.5 quarters, they start slow because they insist on trying to run. The losses to the Colts and Ravens in particular can be blamed for this. I think both games combined total yardage for the first quarter would be something like 40-50 yards, with 60-70% of the plays called having been runs. Then throughout the rest of the game they insist on trying to get it to work instead of just throwing, which teams have had great difficulty stopping itself.

TL;DR Denver loses because they can't run but they keep trying anyway

Droford 10-17-2010 08:42 PM

Ravens are 4-2..

Gotta think they'll win next week vs Buffalo..5-2 into the bye week with a winnable game vs Miami at home after. 6-2 through the first half is about as good as I expected. After that they have winnable game vs Atlanta on Thursday Night Football, and road games vs the Panthers and Bucs that should be wins easily, which puts them at 8-3/9-2 going into the tough part of their remaining schedule (pittsburgh SNF, @ Houston MNF, New Orleans). Im really hoping they flex that Saints Game to SNF (and dont say they wont because its 3 weeks of primetime games, Pittsburgh has 3 straight primetime games vs New Orleans/Cincy/New England)

SlickyTrickyDamon 10-17-2010 09:01 PM

I think we just saw the reinvention of the team that won 3 Superbowls inside of 4 years. Randy was nothing more than a deep threat that Brady was using as a crutch to draw double coverage so he could hit Wes Welker. If the random pass is incomplete it basically means you are punting on the set of downs.

The championship teams were all about short routes including screen passes that substituted for a real running game. Deion Branch seems to be fitting back into his old slot. Also winning by a field goal made me think back to all of those victories by Adam Vinateri game winning field goals.

The old pats were also about making great half time reads and coming back to dominate the last 30 minutes of the game. I know that it's only one game with Branch, but it felt like the Pats were finally back on track.
