I can't see Serra beating GSP again, he is too good. WHICH MAKES ME SO ANGRY BECAUSE I HATE HIM.

I so hope Serra breaks his arm.

Theres talks of the fight being fixed so that they can get a rubber match in 1-3 years down the road

Frank Shamrock To Undergo Surgery Today
By Jason Perkins | March 30, 2008

Frank Shamrock and his wife Amy Shamrock were both admitted to San Jose's Valley Medical Center last night.
Frank Shamrock was admitted to the hospital to receive treatment for a broken right forearm he suffered in his fight against Cung Le. Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the arm was snapped in two. Shamrock was in so much pain due to the broken arm that he could not answer the bell for the fourth round and Le was declared the winner due to TKO/Doctor's Stoppage.

Both Frank Shamrock and wife Amy ended up in San Jose's Valley Medical Center on Saturday night.

Frank Shamrock went to the hospital for the treatment of injuries suffered during his Strikeforce middleweight title loss to Cung Le, including what is believed to be a broken right forearm. Meltzer is also reporting that Shamrock will undergo surgery to insert a plate into his forearm.

Amy Shamrock actually thought she was going into labor during the match. She was quickly rushed off to San Jose's Valley Medical Center only to be released a short time later after doctors realized that she was going through a "false alarm". She is due to have Shamrock's second child in May.

If it was found out they fixed the fight the money would not be as much in the long run. The thing MMA has for itself is credibilty, and that is tough to get back.

Crimson 03-31-2008 10:11 PM

Yea that makes sense^..it's not like they are fighting for millions like in boxing

Seriously shut up about this shit. If you seriously think UFC is gonna fix a fight under license, you are insane.

And if they were gonna do it, they would have done it long before now. No point in pissing millions of dollars up the wall with all these upsets if you can just work them.

RP 04-02-2008 09:46 PM

Florian is to strong. Lauzon couldnt get out of the mount at all.

Kris P Lettus 04-02-2008 09:48 PM

He got out of it once (Florian into side control) but yeah Ken-Flo was too much for him..

Good night of fights..

TUF NEXT!!

Reavant 04-03-2008 11:03 AM

only one fight went to a decision... gotta love it

Kris P Lettus 04-03-2008 11:43 AM

Yeah it it was the best fight of the night IMO..

Maynard looked like a beast..

Rob 04-03-2008 05:02 PM

I think Steve Mazzagati needs to let a few things go in fights. The two decisions he called here wouldn't have been debatable if it went another 3 seconds. Instead you have the Karo and Houston crying and bitching for the next 3 months.

Innovator 04-03-2008 05:14 PM

I think Mazzagati is just lazy

"Well I already ran over....might as well stop it"

Vastardikai 04-03-2008 06:01 PM

Mazzagati let a kick to the back of the head go during Shamrock-Le, as well.

He's replacing Herb Dean as the worst ref. ever.

Rob 04-03-2008 06:38 PM

Well the Lauzon vs. Florian fight would have been stopped if Mazzagati was ref when Florian was elbowing the back of the head.

The Alves/Parysian fight was questionable but Houston Alexander was knocked the fuck out.. Not from the blow thatn dropped him but from the first follow punch on the ground.. His hands dropped and everything..

i think that was stupid anyway.... he was elbowing the top of his head and lauzon started to turn away. Plus the rule is only there because they dont want you to hit the brain stem which is no where near where florian was elbowing him.

Jura 04-03-2008 11:28 PM

Irvin was ready to go and surprised him. If Alexander hadn't jabbed with his left first he would have been guarded. Alexander wasn't blocking anything when he got knocked down and could have suffered more damage and the right decision was called but I'd like to see a rematch.

I agree. He was out. Just 3 more seconds would have ended any debate.

Kris P Lettus 04-04-2008 11:46 AM

It's a fine line between not wanting people to bitch about an early stoppage and a fighter getting brain damage from taking undefended blows to the head..

Specially when their head is slamming the floor with each strike and has no where to go..

Rob 04-04-2008 01:32 PM

It's not that fine of a line.

Reavant 04-04-2008 03:53 PM

well the first time that line is crossed is when the sport gets into some major trouble.

Shit to say but it's gonna happen at some point.

Reavant 04-06-2008 11:39 AM

as long as its not in the ufc then it will be ok

Rob 04-06-2008 04:13 PM

Well it definately can't happen on any EliteXC show now since they have network TV.

Reavant 04-06-2008 04:41 PM

yea but theyre still not considered as big as the ufc. if it happened even in elite xc it could be spun to say that they are a lesser organization with inferior safety regulations blah blah... If it happens in the ufc, then there is no excuse

Rob 04-06-2008 04:51 PM

They won't be called a lesser organization now they have network TV. Any major issue that they had would hit UFC too now. It would be bigger on a UFC show mind you so I agree there but they share the same safety regulations so that wouldn't be any excuse.

the only reason it is make it or break it is because coleman couldnt beat 75% of the heavyweights currently in the UFC right now and he has no business in the cage

Everyone said that the first time. GSP has humbled Koscheck and Hughes since but their Jujitsu or stand up isn't close to Serra's. Again, I think people are seriously underestimating Serra going into this. Maybe even more so than last time. If I had to put money on one, I'd put it on GSP but very grudgingly. Something just tells me Serra has his number.

McLegend 04-07-2008 08:35 PM

If GSP was worried about the pressure in there last fight the pressure is now like 10 times worse.

Top ranked heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko (Pictures) will fight Tim Sylvia (Pictures) on July 19. The Russian mixed martial arts champion confirmed the bout to Sherdog.com on Tuesday.

"[Sylvia] is a good fighter, a strong fighter, the former UFC heavyweight champion, which is important," Emelianenko said via telephone from Stary Oskol, Russia. "I am looking forward to fighting him and training hard for this fight."

While Emelianenko was short on details, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the negotiations that Fedor-Sylvia would headline a card tentatively scheduled for the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the home base of HDNet Fights.

HDNet Fights CEO Andrew Simon declined to comment on the report, however sources indicate the bout will air on the Mark Cuban-owned network and is rumored to be promoted by Affliction, a clothing brand closely tied to MMA.

Affliction had been connected with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions, however a June 28 Las Vegas date has since been discarded.

Emelianenko, a 31-year-old sambo practitioner, has faced criticism from media and fans alike after a string of fights against less than stellar competition. Sylvia would represent the Russian's first ranked opponent since his unanimous decision over Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic nearly three years ago.

Widely regarded as the top heavyweight fighter in the world, Emelianenko (27-1-0, 1 NC) was recently freed from a letter of intent binding him to the now-defunct M-1 Global promotion.

Sylvia, 32, is coming off a submission loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (Pictures) in February at UFC 81. After a spirited performance that saw him batter his foe at will with strikes, Sylvia (24-4-0) eventually fell victim to a classic Nogueira come-from-behind performance and succumbed to a guillotine choke early in the third round.

Fedor Emelianenko Vs. Tim Sylvia Being Discussed For June
By Jason Perkins

A proposed contest between Fedor Emelianenko and Tim Sylvia is currently in discussions according to a source close to the negotiations. Though our source informed us that this fight is a "solid possibility" it should be noted that it is far from a done deal and would require further negotiations if a basic agreement is reached. There are also other names in the works for both fighters should this fight fail to materialize.

The fight, however, if officially agreed to, will be held in Chicago this June under the newly formed Adrenaline MMA banner. The card is also set to feature Jeff Monson taking on Mike Russow in a heavyweight showdown.

Former UFC champion Tim Sylvia was recently released from his UFC contract and has since signed with Adrenaline MMA; which coincidently employs his agent, Monte Cox as CEO of the company. The promotion has also signed Ben Rothwell and Eddie Alverez as the company looks to begin stockpiling talent as they move towards their inaugural event to be held on June 14th.

McLegend 04-08-2008 07:26 PM

I think it's a bad move for everyone involved excpet for Tim Sylvia.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 07:31 PM

Fedor is going to murder him..

McLegend 04-08-2008 07:34 PM

Just like how Cro cop and every other Pride fighter was gonna murder everyone in the UFC?

Tim Sylvia will probably get more money then he is worth. Even if he is does get murdered it still be a good move for him.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 07:41 PM

Nothing like Cro Cop.. Sylvia is just shit..

McLegend 04-08-2008 07:47 PM

Sylvia is actually a good fighter. Mind you I don't really watch him, but hes a tough matchup for everyone. I don't think this will be an impressive victory Fedor. I could see this being a terribly boring fight, and hurting Fedor's exposure to the American auidence.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 07:54 PM

No..

Fedor can easily take down much bigger guys..

Hong Man Choi, Nog, Gary Goodridge, Ogawa, etc etc..

McLegend 04-08-2008 07:57 PM

Hong Man Choi is ten times worse then Sylvia

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 07:58 PM

Well, yeah but Fedor is still the best heavyweight in the world..

The only person who could give him trouble ATM is Couture..

Sylvia has better takedown defense than you give him credit for. Jeff Monson is a better wrestler than Fedor and he struggled like anything to do anything to him. This is probably the most dangerous fight out there for Fedor right now and I wouldn't be shocked at all if he lost.

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:03 PM

Fedor last fight against a top level fighter was Crocop, and it was nearly 3 years ago.

I can not say he is the best heavyweight in the world atm. In fact I honestly don't know who is.

And again with the expection of Hong man Choi (who sucks) none of those guys are as big as Tim Sylvia.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 08:07 PM

All of them are over 6'3"..

I know Sylvia has a nice take down defense but Couture took him down at will..

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 08:09 PM

Also, Matt Lindland isn't a garbage fighter even though he is past his prime..

Mark Hunt is an awesome striker too..

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:12 PM

Yeah but see Matt Lindland naturally fights at middleweight, and didn't stand much of a chance against heavyweight figther the caliber of Fedor.

Innovator 04-08-2008 08:26 PM

Sylvia sucks

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:26 PM

I am well aware, which is why I said excpet for Hong Man Choi.

Innovator 04-08-2008 08:30 PM

The fight will be Sylvtastic...

Sylvia might land a punch....Fedor will take him down....submit him

McLegend 04-08-2008 08:31 PM

And he really sucks. I cannot say that enough.

Syliva is much better then him. So his height difference wasn't a factor, because he is terrible.

Rob 04-08-2008 08:59 PM

I'm tipping Sylvia for the upset.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 09:02 PM

Rob "Underdog" Harvey

First Serra over GSP and now this..

:nono:

Rob 04-08-2008 09:05 PM

I think Sylvia is a bad match up for Fedor and he avoided fighting him in the past. Point blank told UFC he didn't want to fight him and wouldn't fight him when Dana White was willing to do Pride exchanges. And except for Serra last time, I did good on tipping the big fights last year.

Kris P Lettus 04-08-2008 09:14 PM
