Mr. Pierre 09-19-2010 11:11 PM

Great PPV. I really enjoyed it :y:

-Kofi/Dolph was a solid opener, and Dolph looked like a million bucks.

-Punk was on fire tonight. He had a fun match with Show, and his promo was awesome.

-Bryan/Miz was great. The false finishes were perfect, and the match was really solid.

-Divas was whatever. I'm used to 10 minutes of the show sucking. That's fine, w/e.

-Taker/Kane was fun. I'm a Taker mark, so I always enjoy his matches. It told a good story, and Kane going over clean was great and adds a lot to their feud.

-Tag Team Turmoil was oddly booked, but meh. Filler match that had some good match quality to it. I'm not really digging the Rhodes/Drew team though.

-Main event was awesome. Jericho's elimination was disappointing, but made sense. Edge's elimination had a great exchange leading up to it. And Orton was so over it's ridiculous. I was a huge "wait until Mania" for Orton to win, but the crowd was ready, and the more I watched, I was ready for him to win too. He can't have a long reign though. I'd prefer if it was short, and this reign is just to keep the Orton fans content, and then have him retain the Championship at WM27 after another hot chase.

Overall, really fun show :y:

Agreed that this was a good PPV all around.

All of the right people won tonight, save for two matches. Even in the case of the tag titles - I am a huge fan of the Harts - but the company did nothing with them. At least a semi-believable team won tonight, and this will probably be a good way to create interest in SD as it prepares for its move to SyFy.

My only complaints for the night come from Show vs. Punk and the Six Pack Challenge. I really believed that Punk should have won this one, but I won't go crazy over it. If it means that he is FINALLY done with his awful program with Big Show, then I'll live. Truly a waste of a good worker to keep the guy paired with a laughable face like Show.

As for the six pack challenge, I think Orton winning is a HUGE mistake! Orton didn't need to win here. Honestly, I have actually been looking forward to a future title win for RKO, but a victory here just kind of killed it for me. His win needed to be bigger, and probably should have happened at Mania or the Rumble. Unless a good feud comes out of this, I may have just lost interest in Orton. That is not my only problem with this match though. Having Sheamus lose... why? What genius in the WWE decided to make Sheamus less and less legitimate as a competitor. Apparently, he cannot win unless there is some gimmick match involved and will never win cleanly. You had your chance to make Sheamus a viable threat and you've turned him into a coward who can't win clean over anyone anymore.

Thank you WWE. Thank you for screwing up your main event scene once again. At least throw us a bone and turn Cena heel if you're going to keep jerking us around like this.

Bad night for me in Tipsters and the WWE Pool.

Otherwise, it was an ok PPV.

Miz and Daniel Bryan had the match of the night by far. I was very impressed by The Miz's work. Bryan was a champ at selling it as well. I really didn't want Bryan to win tonight, but he did it. Now the test begins on Monday with whether he can show any personality.

THE SCHLOME SAYS......

Time to review WWE: NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS 2010

Quote:

Welcome guys and dolls to another exciting and cheeto filled review by your resident nice guy, SCHLOMEY! Now lets head down to the ring to the match in progress.

INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE
Dolph Ziggler vs Kofi Kingston

My roomate made me go grocery shopping. Obviously a massive cockblock to a wrestling fan. I missed this match and will edit in the review once I see it. For now it's vacant.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler

CM Punk vs The Big Giant Show Monster

Great promo from Punky Brewster to start this thing. The "lets set this city on fire again" comment was harsh and stung even I who has no ties to that city whatsoever. Good job, browski. The match was good. I have hated this feud since the beginning since, ya know, Big Show has basically killed the SES every second of TV time they have been given. I though TONIGHT is the night that Punk goes over....Yeah...WRONG. The match was good. The finish was too early and somewhat anti-climactic as neither guy really seemed to get off the ground. Punks undercard matches have often times been plagued with not enough time to tell a good story...Remember his Mania watch with Rey for one example.

Winner: Big Giant Show Monster with a punch to the bald spot.

MATCH RATING: 5 ugly Big Show bandannas out of 10

UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
The Miz vs Daniel Bryanson

Match of the night. No question. Miz stood toe to toe with one of the more accomplished technical wrestlers working today and not only made it enjoyable...but more importantly..believable. This match is like very few the WWE have EVER presented to their audience and I HOPE HOPE HOPE we get to see more matches like this in the near future.

Winner and new US Champ: Daniel Bryan with the Labell Lock

MATCH RATING: 10 MITB briefcases out of 10

DIVA/WOMENS TITLE UNIFICATION LUMBERJILL MATCH
McTaker vs Mexican Diva

The cigarette I enjoyed during this match down in the kitchen gets a 5 star rating. I caught the end of the match by accident...didn't expect them to get a full 5 minutes! It was ok what I saw but glad I didn't have to see the whole thing.

Winner and new champ: Michelle McTaker

MATCH RATING: 5 small breasts out of 10

WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE
Kane vs Undertaker

This is the best match in their long history together. It had slow moments but overall it was quite enjoyable. Really happy to see Kane finally get a PPV victory over his brother. It loses points in the originality department and for the 5 minutes it took Taker to leave.

Winner: Kane with the tombstone

MATCH RATING: 7 biker kane sightings out of 10

TAG TEAM TITLE GAUNTLET
Usos vs Bourne/Henry vs CodyTire vs Harts vs Koztino

Ok. First off let me say that I HATE HATE HATE thrown together tag teams....and equally bad are comedic tag teams. Where was Archer/Hawkins or The Dudebusters..Ya know...LEGITIMATE tag teams that might actually deserve to wrestle on a program? Anyways I hated this match until the end. How realistic and smart is it to have 3 falls last no more than a minute each? Seriously, way to put over a "strong tag team division" WWE....you fucks. Anyways once it got down to Henry/Bourne and Cody/McIntire it turned in to a great match. I love that pairing even though it was kind of just thrown together at least they are making it work. All points in this match go directly to the "Make Me Dashing Fund".

Winners and NEW tag team champs: The Dashing Duo

MATCH RATING: 4 Mark Henry fat rolls out of 10

WWE TITLE MATCH
Jericho vs Barrett vs Edge vs Sheamus vs Orton vs Cena

Great match except Jericho. In the chats I called it before the match even started..Jericho would be fucked over and out within 2-3 minutes of the match starting...Low and behold the WWE didn't let me down. Fuck that. Horrid way to go out. The rest of the match was top notch with tons of good ring psychology and really good sequences. I especially loved the "we know everything about each other" sequence between Orton and Cena and also sequence that ended with Edge getting eliminated. That was just really good timing all around. Overall this match did everything I wanted it to except for Jericho once again not being able to give me my moneys worth....well....my time worth. haha.

Winner and new champ: Randy "I actually smiled at the end" Orton

MATCH RATING: 8 drunken Cena handjobs out of 10

OVERALL OPINION

I have heard rumblings that this PPV was "great" and "FINALLY the WWE has put on an amazing PPV this year"....bullshit. It had a couple good matches and 2 great ones. But the little things that pissed me off through the evening really made it almost not enjoyable at times. The stalling...the long vignettes...Albert Del Rio vids again...Jericho.....lame tag team problems....All that put together made it just an ok PPv with a few great moments.

OVERALL RATING: 39 out of 60

The wrestling was really good from start to finish. You missed the starter that set the mood for the rest of us. It was a great PPV, and I stand by it.

Schlomey 09-19-2010 11:28 PM

glad you liked it vsg...I'm never going to tell someone that their opinion is wrong...I'm not a dick like that...I just meant for me the little things that pissed me off thru the show really lowered my enjoyment.

Oh yeah, IC title match got me set for a great night. I marked the fuck out during the Miz/Bryan match especially during the near falls. I haven't been that excited about a match in AGES!

Also, I'm actually looking forward to watch RAW and see where everything goes with what went down at NOC.

CSL 09-20-2010 01:00 AM

lolll Kozlov's running headbutt/charge/battering ram/clusterfuck falling thing

CSL 09-20-2010 01:02 AM

For the millionth time, Evan Bourne's SSP is beautiful

CSL 09-20-2010 01:16 AM

Think Sheamus might make a pretty good babyface.

CSL 09-20-2010 01:24 AM

Well Orton's a bit over.

Bit harsh, i enjoyed most of it.

Schlomey 09-20-2010 12:14 PM

he's right about the second part. HIAC will mostly be rematches and the rest will just be weak representations.

Volare 09-20-2010 01:01 PM

So, since AmDrag won the title, how long till he has new theme music?

nrt4 09-20-2010 05:39 PM

Anyone notice how Alex Riley didn't have his "Letterman" jacket getup on.

I wonder if anyone has given the thought of placing Riley and Jack Swagger together. Shit, the gimmicks are quite the same

Chris Nowitski probably tried to sue for gimmick infringement.
