According to Ubisoft Montpelier, Rayman Legends for the Wii U is getting an extra goodie to help make up for the delay announcement. Online Challenge mode will now become a free downloadable standalone mode to help pass the time because of the delay.

Quote:

Accessible from the main hub in Legends, new challenges are generated daily and weekly. The challenges take place in five different settings and the overarching mode that ties them together will be released through the eShop, for free, around the beginning of April. Additionally, creative director Michel Ancel says that characters, bosses, and levels are being added to the full

While EA in general might be loosing interest in the Wii U, at least their sub-studios are still interested in making games for it. Criterion Games said the reason Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be arriving on the Wii U is because of the Gamepad giving them some fresh ideas to do for that port.

Also ends up being the first Criterion to appear on a Nintendo console since Burnout 2 in 2002.

Uuuuurrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh! I hate it when people cry over things like this and end up getting their way.
Watch, they'll play F-Zero and the community page will be full of "Why is it 60Hz? The music is too fast!! I want the music I remember from the PAL SNES version!"

If it had been a remake of Balloon Fight then, yeah, crank it up to 60Hz but, as it's supposed to be an emulation of the PAL version, I think it should play like the PAL version did.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-21-2013 03:28 AM

No, fuck the PAL versions. There's a huge reason I imported consoles and it's because we were shafted. I knew that at 13, I know that now.

So happy that common sense prevailed on this one.

Drakul 02-21-2013 03:45 AM

It'll just lead to more crying for more stuff now they know it works.
First it was 60Hz, then it'll be demanding leaderboards and so on. Then you'll get crying for non-VC games. Crying that Waluigi isn't in Smash or because they reveal Zelda U will be cel shaded etc.

Kalyx triaD 02-21-2013 03:50 AM

That ship has sailed a long time ago, man.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-21-2013 03:50 AM

Nope, it was a VC game. Just give us the best version possible and move on.

...Although I would love Waluigi in Smash.

I mean look at that horror show. For a game like F-Zero, it's required to be in 60Hz.

If it was some turn-based RPG, whatever, just get rid of the borders if they can. But racing, it's gots to be all about that speed.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-21-2013 05:19 AM

Best reasoning against the 60Hz I've seen.

Sacrilege.

I still remember the first day I owned a Super Nintendo. I was with my grandmother in Canberra, and we went into the DJ’s at Woden Plaza where they had a demo setup playing F-Zero. We ended up leaving with Super Mario World and F-Zero. It was a good day.

I didn’t bring much with me from Australia to the US, but I still have my original SNES controller here. It was a Big Deal in my growth as a person. Super Mario World was one of those games that turned me into a designer. It’s in my top 5. F-Zero, through no fault of its own, turned me into the jaded husk of a man I am today.

See, I was really good at F-Zero. Specifically, Mute City - I had that track down on lock. Anything above 2:51 was a terrible time, and I could usually break 2:50 on good runs. All of my schoolmates who challenged me were defeated. I was a golden god, until the American exchange student came to town.

I don’t even remember his name now. I just remember standing outside our classroom, and the topic of conversation moved to F-Zero. I bragged about my 2:49 lap times. Then, that goddamn seppo dropped his line.

“What? That’s a terrible time. My best is 2:32”

Even worse, he had verification from other kids who’d seen him do it. I was basically nobody now. I practiced and practiced, but never figured out how he was shaving off that much time. I’m skipping some details, but this story ends with me changing schools and never mentioning F-Zero again.

A decade later, Super Nintendo emulation becomes feasible. For old times sake, I grab a F-Zero ROM and play. I’m obviously rusty.

I get a time in the 2:30s. That goddamned asshole. Of course he got a faster time, his dumb imported purple console was 17.5% faster than all of ours. What a goddamned fucking hack on a pogo stick! If I translated my time, I would have completely smoked him! GodDAMMIT! WHAT A FUCKING HACK.

I still can’t remember this guy’s name, but every year or so I try googling around to see if I can finally get revenge. I never do.

Now, Nintendo of Europe has the balls to side with this guy, and whitewash all of the victorious lap times that us non-yanks achieved. This is our thanks for sticking by you when you didn’t release Animal Crossing? This is our thanks for being stuck with Doshin the Giant instead of Earthbound?!

Sacrilege.

Kalyx triaD 02-21-2013 05:33 AM

That guy needs to get over that. Baggage, man.

Drakul 02-21-2013 08:25 AM

What is that guy talking about? We got Animal Crossing and Doshin the Giant was awesome.

#BROKEN Hasney 02-21-2013 08:27 AM

I don't think he's completely serious, but we didn't get Animal Crossing N64 and I don't really think you can compare Doshin the Giant and Earthbound, as fun as Doshin could be.

Drakul 02-21-2013 08:30 AM

Doshin and his wobbly arms. He should probably be in SSB in some way. Character, assist or an entire level.

According to Crytek, Crysis 3 was meant to have a Wii U version and was finished around the same time as the other platforms but EA demanded the project to be cancelled.

The reason appears to be related to rumors of EA being pissed off at Nintendo rejecting having Origin be the provider for the new Nintendo Network and EA having a lot of control over it. Also would support rumors of EA pulling support for Wii U projects as punishment against Nintendo.

Miyamoto revealed some stuff Nintendo is working on in a recent interview with Polygon:

* The Wii U NFC project is currently one of their top priority projects with Nintendo hoping to have something ready in the near future.
* Nintendo themselves are currently developing games to support multiple Game Pads at once and will show case them at a later date (maybe E3).
* Considering the success of the Nintendo Direct series, Nintendo now will use ND to make big announcements while E3 will still be their focus for having hands-on stuff for the public.

Ubisoft wants Nintendo to have a price cut done soon for the Wii U mainly to improve software sales. Their reasoning is customers are less likely to just pocket the savings and instead buy more games (preferably Ubisoft games) at the same time they buy the console.

According to Miyamoto, Nintendo is currently reworking the Wii U interface with the goal of having it be released this summer.
http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/...says-miyamoto/

Drakul 03-08-2013 05:18 PM

The interface is fine as it is. Are they going to do what MS did with the 360 Dashboard and turn, what was a fine interface, into a clunky mess?

Emperor Smeat 03-08-2013 05:30 PM

Probably not since the thinking behind the big XBLA redesigns was Microsoft adding too much stuff or catering to just a segment of the Xbox 360 crowd.

All the reports about the Wii U interface hint more at a lot of tweaks and fixes but nothing really drastic unless some serious problems pop up after the April update. Think the interface wasn't tested well since its not using the 1GB of RAM effectively.

The "3DS Direct" had a bunch of Wii U stuff too.
  • New Super Luigi U uses the same world map, but every level is new. Luigi can jump higher but can't stop as well with running like SMB2. Timer starts at 100 seconds so less time. Coming summer.
  • Wii U patch that speeds up the OS and auto-patches games. Can keep hold of B while booting to go straight to Wii mode. Coming next week as well as Virtual Console launching for Wii U. Some games shown as available: Super Matio World and Kirby Superstar (I think, could have been a different Kirby).
  • Wii U Panorama mode will have a demo. Because we all care.
  • Pikmin 3 has a flying Pikmin. STILL NO FUCKING DATE. EDIT: August 4th.
  • EARTHBOUND WILL HIT VC BY THE END OF THE YEAR
  • Game & Wario. Farting prank phone call game in it. Out in May.
