Loose Cannon 07-14-2005 10:29 PM

Rivera. Lights. Out

Dragon 07-14-2005 10:30 PM

Rivera strikes out the last three. Pretty big win for the Yankees with Tim Redding and his 0-5 record and over 9.00 ERA pitching tomorrow.

The Miz 07-14-2005 10:31 PM

LOL nice one Schilling. Where was Jesus for you on that one?

YOUR Hero 07-14-2005 10:43 PM

Miz is right about Byrnes and his poor jumps and shitty routes to fly balls. Once he looses half a step, he'll be a huge liability in the field... unless of course he learns to read the flight of the ball better off the bat.

OssMan 07-14-2005 10:44 PM

lol great example of how Manny Ramirez sucks in the field, he tried to make a sliding catch but did it like 5ft away from the ball but Cano was dum and tried to have a triple and Manny just flipped it to third and got the assist

Good series, obviously I am going to say Twins, but thats just me.

Anyway, I'd be pretty surprised if the Red Sox and Cards don't meet in the World Series again.

are you kidding me? boston beating chicago EASY? wow. best record in baseball since april 30th and still no respect.

The Miz 07-14-2005 10:53 PM

That's not exactly an outlandish prediction. The Red Sox won the world series last year and we don't know how the White Sox will do in the second half

YOUR Hero 07-14-2005 11:06 PM

1 more hit for Palmeiro, now needs just one more for 3,000. I think he's going to get it tonight.

The Yanks are screwed tomorrow. Great game tonight and a huge win. A-Rod

Loose Cannon 07-14-2005 11:12 PM

wow, I had no idea he was near 3,000.

3,000/500. Pretty dam good. Aaron, Mays and Murray

YOUR Hero 07-14-2005 11:15 PM

Raphy is the man. Never got the respect he deserves, at least from my perspective.

Loose Cannon 07-14-2005 11:21 PM

yea, you're right. Very underated player.

YOUR Hero 07-14-2005 11:26 PM

9 seasons in a row where he hit 38 or more HRs and over 100+ rbis. 10 seasons of +35 HRs. He's never been on the DL.

The Miz 07-14-2005 11:27 PM

Rich Harden has a perfect game through 6 against Texas

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-14-2005 11:42 PM

I'm not even turning on sports radio tomorrow. Going to be ridiculous.

The Miz 07-14-2005 11:49 PM

lol fucking Rangers have had like 3 pussy injuries this inning like fingernail and shit, letting Harden sit there and think about it and get cold

The Miz 07-14-2005 11:57 PM

Nice try Buck. Perfect through 7. :)

YOUR Hero 07-15-2005 12:09 AM

Lost it, Soriano.

The Miz 07-15-2005 12:11 AM

lol the second ESPN goes live to the game Soriano gets a hit.

Probably going to the game tomorrow and the day after. After this weekend, events I will have witnessed:

Edgar Martinez' final game
Ichiro's record breaking 258th hit
Ken Griffey Jr.'s 350th home run
Rafael Palmeiro's 3000th hit

YOUR Hero 07-15-2005 12:18 AM

YEah I doubt Raphy will get another AB tonight :(

I don't think the White Sox will be a threat in the playoffs, simply put.

There were some statistics in a recent Sports Illustrated that showed last years stat leaders at the half and their final stats, and it works against many of the White Sox. Garland, Podsednik, Iguchi, Hermanson. Then you have Konerko, who usually slows down in the second half, Frank Thomas who has like a 2:1 HR:Hit ratio, which is obviously not going to continue. Then you have Garcia, who is bound to let his head get the best of him soon.

I don't doubt that the White Sox will make the playoffs. They will really have to fuck up to let the Twins catch them. Once the playoffs come though, they will be worn down from inexperience and their timely hitting, which is pretty much the reason they are where they are, will likely be off. Like the Nationals, once they start to lose the momentum and lose the one run games, it will be a downhill road.

Finally, look at how they played against the Oakland A's in the past two series'. I think they went 1-5, and the A's are nowhere near as good as a team like the Red Sox will be come playoff time. The Red Sox have a veteran lineup with proven great players, and as of right now they are still the favorites to win the AL pennant in my opinion. Anything can of course happen, but I don't like the White Sox chances and I do like the Red Sox's.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-15-2005 01:35 AM

Red Sox had no trouble beating the "Best team in baseball" in the World Series last year..

BCWWF 07-15-2005 01:38 AM

Regular season records can be very decieving. There was something like the White Sox have only lost 5 division games this year, but they play like four or five series' with the Twins still.

RoXer 07-15-2005 04:55 PM

Yeah, A's swept the ChiSox the past series.

Dragon 07-15-2005 08:02 PM

Wow, ridiculous. Trot Nixon just got an inside the park home run because Melky Cabrera misplayed a ball.

Was pretty much expecting the Yankees to get crushed today because of who was pitching, but wasn't expecting it to be 8-0 in the second.

Loose Cannon 07-15-2005 08:35 PM

yea fuck. Was watching this shit from a bar around a bunch on Sox fans. Not fun

Innovator 07-15-2005 09:54 PM

Note to Torre and Cashman

WE NEED SOME FUCKING PITCHERS....

that is all

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-15-2005 10:05 PM

who the fuck are all these yank jobber pitchers they have now? :$

Innovator 07-16-2005 01:38 AM

considering we only have 2 real starters right now (Johnson and Moose), Wang is on the DL, Brown is on the DL and suck, Wright sucks, Pavano sucks, Henn sucked, this new guy sucks

Somebody get Peddite and Clemens back

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-16-2005 01:52 AM

If the Red Sox could get their fucking pen straight they would be running away with this shit. God damn it

Evil Vito 07-16-2005 11:55 AM

Since I haven't seen it mentioned in here yet: congrats to Rafael Palmeiro :y:

Dragon 07-16-2005 12:30 PM

Damn, Clement is pitching for the Sox today. Johnson better pitch good today, because we don't even know whos pitching tomorrow or Monday.

Loose Cannon 07-16-2005 12:35 PM

god, Yankees are going to sign Leiter now. Can we have some more 40 year olds please?

Dragon 07-16-2005 01:11 PM

I dunno, Leiter seems like a better option than Redding and Darrell May. I doubt its going to be a long term thing.

Even when the starters we have on the DL come back we aren't going to know what we are going to have. Pavano has been bad all year, Brown was decent for a stretch but still really inconsistent, Wang would be nice to have back because he's been consistent. But I've heard talk of him being out all year. And ever since I heard of the Jaret Wright signing, I knew it was bad news. Really was an awful idea to get him.

Loose Cannon 07-16-2005 01:13 PM

isn't there any better pitchers on the market right now? And I'm sure they can pull off a big trade with some team.

Dragon 07-16-2005 01:16 PM

Yeah, hopefully they could get a trade before the deadline for a good young pitcher, but I think right now their only choice is Leiter.
