God damn it RJ.

The Icon of Elisim 05-10-2006 02:30 AM

I dunno, Towers location looked pretty good for the first three innings. I dunno why Gibbons pulled him after 4, he had a rough spot and didn't get a chance to go past it.

I wouldn't be shocked if Towers gets 1 or 2 more starts before they send him to the pen (maybe it would help if they make Zaun his perminent catcher so that he gets someone to work with all week). If thats the case hopefully they give his spot to Pete Walker and not Scott Downs

The Miz 05-10-2006 10:20 AM

They shoud just stick with him until Burnett gets back and then give his spot to Janssen. His location wasn't bad, he's just occasionally throwing meatballs and theyre getting hammered. The pitches to Crosby and Melhuse were right down the middle. To be fair, he's had to face the Red Sox 3 times and the Yankees twice I think. If his ERA was over 10 and he'd been facing the DRays and Mariners that'd be a bigger problem.

Gertner 05-10-2006 11:22 AM

yeah but the jays are supposed to contend this year and we can't have our pitchers suck ass against the top teams

The Miz 05-10-2006 04:02 PM

Well they'll go with a 4 man in the playoffs anyway so that doesn't really matter. As long as he beats the teams he should he'll be fine.

Gertner 05-10-2006 10:13 PM

lol damn chacin

YOUR Hero 05-11-2006 12:30 AM

Chacin is having elbow troubles. Getting an MRI tommorow... SHIT

Nervous Ferret 05-11-2006 01:48 AM

7-3 Yankeesssssss

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-11-2006 01:28 PM

Thought the Sox where gonna run away with it after Ortiz upper deck shot and Lowell's solo homer but Mussina recovered and pitched well while Schilling really didn't

FakeLaser 05-11-2006 02:17 PM

MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE

Gertner 05-11-2006 02:59 PM

lol since Blanton LOST and Chacin had another masterpiece of an outing, we can conclude that Chacin> Blanton

Gertner 05-11-2006 04:35 PM

8-3 Jays. A's are just pretenders.

RoXer 05-11-2006 08:32 PM

lol

3 innings, 5 runs

MARVELOUS

Dragon 05-11-2006 08:49 PM

Hideki Matsui injured his wrist in the first inning. He didn't get a half inning of play in so it doesn't count as an official game. His continuous games streak is gonna end at 1768 counting Japan and in MLB.

Pretty rough if he is gonna be out long, two of our main starters in the outfield will be out.

Have you watched the second half of baseball the last 5 years? Oakland owns it. Everyone is injured or slumping and they still are in 1st/2nd place. Just wait, it'll be about the same time the Blue Jays are fading out

YOUR Hero 05-11-2006 09:05 PM

damn, the Jays/A's game isn't om tonight. I hate that.

YOUR Hero 05-11-2006 09:05 PM

...or did they play an early game tonight?

YOUR Hero 05-11-2006 09:13 PM

early game. Jays won (8-3) WOOO!

Ok, look at this. differnt subject, look at what Clement had to say about his start yesterday being pushed until tommorow...
Quote:

May 11 The Hartford Courant's David Heuschkel reports Boston Red Sox SP Matt Clement, who was originally supposed to pitch Wednesday, May 10, against the New York Yankees, has had his start pushed to May 12. "In all due respect, I'm doing what they tell me and I really don't have much comment on it," Clement said. "I really don't want to comment on the whole situation. I'm usually pretty open. But it serves me better not to make a comment."
LOL, there's always drama in Beantown.

Supreme Olajuwon 05-12-2006 02:15 AM

JUNIORRRRRRRRRRRRRR GRIFFEYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I've convinced myself the bullpen blew the lead on purpose.

BCWWF 05-12-2006 02:17 AM

I am home, and will be attending Johan's perfect game tomorrow night, MEAT

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-12-2006 02:56 AM

Red Sox woulda won by more if it wasn't for two homers gettin' robbed, figures one of the catches would be from Damon.

FakeLaser 05-12-2006 01:47 PM

Just heard that the Yankees are interested in Griffey. If I remember correctly, Griffey said he'd never play for the Yankees though.

I know he's kind of broken down and will probably get injured after about 7 seconds (and it probably won't happen), but the thought of Griffey in pinstripes is pretty exciting.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-12-2006 02:07 PM

Yankees would probably have to trade a lot of their top prospects for him though, and he has that injury issue. I dunno who they have for prospects though? Trading away all their young guys has to catch up with them at some point you'd think, can't keep offering guys 18-20/year contracts because they seem to keep piling up. (Not sure when Giambi is off the books, but I am pretty sure he still has a few years)

FakeLaser 05-12-2006 02:45 PM

It's catching up with us already.

I don't think we'd have enough to land Griffey (which is a good thing). Most of our better prospects are in A ball, save Eric Duncan and Andy Phillips (who is underrated, IMO).

BCWWF 05-12-2006 02:46 PM

Alright Joey Slugs,
Santana vs. Garland
Radke vs. Buehlre
Silva vs. Garcia

What's on the line?

Jesus Shuttlesworth 05-12-2006 02:54 PM

If all their best prospects are in A ball then I think if the Yankees are going to go get anyone worth anything they'd have to trade Cano. Or just tons and tons of cash

BCWWF 05-12-2006 05:49 PM

Dear ESPN,
Just because the Yankees lost their left fielder doesn't mean that other teams are going to drop everything and trade good players to them. It's what, two months into the season, and suddenly the Phillies want to trade Bobby Abreu and the Twins want to trade Shannon Stewart and Torii Hunter?

FYI, teams don't trade based on the Yankees need. The Twins are waiting on a new stadium, if one is passed this session, the Twins won't be involved in a fire sale. If the stadium bill is not passed and the Twins are out of contention come June, then the Twins might start making trades. Just because the Yankees need somebody doesn't mean teams are just going to trade to them.

Dragon 05-12-2006 05:59 PM

Matsui was a big player to lose but I see all these people saying we should trade off all our young players to get someone now. There is no reason to even think about getting someone like Soriano.

Bringing up someone like Kevin Thompson wouldn't be bad, he has speed and plays the outfield well. Even having Bubba Crosby out there for a while won't hurt, I mean he was our starting center fielder in the playoffs last year and did well. Once Sheff comes back that is another big bat back in the lineup.

With a lineup that has Damon, Jeter, Giambi, A-Rod, Posada, Cano, etc...there should be no problem scoring runs. Anyway, we have gotten by this season with Matsui slumping, only batting .250/.260 so trying out some younger guys won't hurt.

YOUR Hero 05-12-2006 06:27 PM

Abreu was shopped around alot by the Phillies in the off season, so you never know... They tried to swing a Wells/Abreu trade with Toronto. No dice.

FakeLaser 05-12-2006 06:30 PM

Bubba Crosby will be fine out there. That's only 2 outfielders though. I'm not sold on Melky Cabrera, he is a pretty decent prospect but I don't think he's big league ready. We need guys out there that can play defense. We have plenty of offense. Bernie Williams definitely is not the answer. It doesn't matter if the replacement is detrimental to the offense, but we don't want the replacement to be a detriment defensively.

Dragon 05-12-2006 06:38 PM

Yeah, I think Melky still needs to develop some more, not sure if he is ready yet. He only played one game in right field in the minors before he was put in there against Boston, and that was the day before he was called up. Bringing up Thompson will help though.

I am hoping that Torre doesn't overdo it with Bernie in the outfield though, something that I can see happening.

FakeLaser 05-12-2006 06:43 PM

I have a feeling we're looking at a Damon, Williams, Crosby outfield for a while, unfortunately.

Dragon 05-12-2006 06:44 PM

Well, looking at ESPN they have Bernie in right against Oakland tonight, switching Melky over to left. Honestly hope its not what they plan to do too often while Matsui is out.

Dragon 05-12-2006 06:49 PM

Torre said Cabrera is going to be in the outfield most of the time if not everyday while he is up, so it looks like Bubba is the odd man out again which is a shame, he should be in left with Cabrera in right. I know he is not an all-star player or anything but he goes all out on every play in the outfield or at bat.
