Hooray for old timey whore clothes!

Ya know, every movie that gets announced, pre-produced, and filmed before another Superman movie makes me wanna bomb Warner Bros. Studios.
|
They just don't know what the fuck they are doing when it comes to live action shit that doesn't include the words "bat" or "joker". They have this great animated film section full of greatness like Superman Doomsday and Justice League: New Frontier, but can't put together anything else with DC. How about a fucking Preacher trilogy? The Bible Belt would be up in arms, which would create a massive hype machine.
|
They need to get with it, and stop worrying about focus group and shit. That's not how you make movies, dammit!

Yet Another Loser:
Oscar Jaenada (The Limits of Control, Che: Part Two) has landed the role of Cougar in Warner Bros. Pictures' adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic book The Losers. He's joining a cast that includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the leader Clay, Idris Elba is his second-in-command Roque, Chris Evans as Jensen, Columbus Short as Pooch, Jason Patric as Max and Zoe Saldana as Aisha. Sylvain White is directing the movie about a band of black ops commandos who are set up to be killed by their own government. They barely survive and set out to get even. Credit: Superherohype.com Also, I've seen some rather... wacky misconceptions online. I just wanna say that The Losers is not Sly Stallone's action project (also about outcast soldiers). Just wanted to say. |
The First Two Still From The Animated Adaptation Of One Of My Favorite Comics: Super/Batman: Public Enemies!!!:

Kevin Conroy and Tim Daly have their respective voices. I am good with this.

IS THAT CONFIRMED?!? I'LL KILL YOU FOR LYING ABOUT THIS!

Got raped within the DCU proper.
I have high hopes for this. |

Just read the comic book story because I never read it before and heard it was good. It was average. Mayhaps in movie form it will be better. I can see the potential.

Superman Has Options:
Brandon Routh's Superman contract has expired (way to drag your feet WB), but simply means WB doesn't have to use him in Superman movies and he doesn't have to return. Past news show that he's pretty much still 'in the boots', unless something goes wrong on the studio side. |
Are they even working on another Superman movie?
|
They'll say yes, I think no. I think they're sitting on their ass waiting for some fucking... 'sign' that a Superman movie will make them the most money or some shit like that. To be honest we should be hearing about Superman 3 plans by now, with 'Returns 2 coming out on DVD already. But they're sitting chilling, butthurt that Superman Returns didn't net them enough to buy a small island (even though it fucking did). So no, they're not in the process.
|
Superman Returns is on FX like every weekend, and Brandon Routh is the best thing in that movie. So I hope he comes back.
Also Bruce Timm and company should do The Killing Joke. I don't care if it doesn't fit in with their continuity. They should just do it, because it would probably be good. I'm just sayin. |
That's a good idea, and they don't have set continuities anymore (haven't you heard?). I would love to see the Killing Joke in motion.
|
I haven't heard actually. I have kind of stopped following the DCAU after the Cadmus arc of the JLU.
The ending would be great with Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamil. It's got to happen. |
The DCAU ended with JLU in 2005/6. Everything since was set in it's own universe, which is cool and not cool depending on how you look at it. Every movie they made since embarrasses the live action stuff consistently.
|
I see. I'm going to have to watch them.
|
They should make an animated adaptation of Superman: Birthright. That would make a good Superman movie.
|
Oh HELL YEAH. And Kingdom Come, too.

I've found Superman/Batman to be a pretty hit or miss book. Public Enemies was one of the stronger arcs, however, so I'll be looking forward to this.
On a related note, I respect any writer that can make me interested in superman. By those standards, Grant Morrison is a genius, because I LOVE All-Star Superman. If you havn't checke it out, do so. Actually Grant Morrison is a genius regardless, but that's besides the point. |
The Public Enemies arc is the arc of the series, aside from the first (even though the World's Finest comics have been around). I think it should be used for reference when doing a Batman/Superman movie (along with the Byrne's Man of Steel #4).
|
I find Superman comics to be quite boring.
But then again..I have never been a Superman fan myself. It takes a lot to impress me with Superman. The last Superman comic I read that I enjoyed(which does not say much since I haven't read much since) was Superman #666. I really liked the concept of Superman just cracking down to the pressure he gets from the world and what people expect him to be. Good deal. If DC is going to do more animated crap, I want to see the Anti-Monitor kick some ass. |
I also find the superman comics boring, but I think thats because Ive grown up spoiled with all the animated and live action programs and movies that have to do with him. I just think hes a character that is better suited off the paper.

Also, if we think about it..the Superman writers must have some serious trouble writing. I mean, it must be quite a task to come up with issues and enemies for someone like Superman. It must be hard to write for a character like Luthor who is technically smarter than any of us. I just also think it's time that DC starts giving other heroes attention. I am tired of seeing Superman and Batman left and right. The DC universe does great with animated films but I need more dammit! and none of that Smallville crap also. I am sorry but the Flash with a jogging suit is just not the flash. |
Flash is the character, not a costume. Other than that, yeah, Superman's hard to write for. I find him best used in conjunction with other characters. Justice League and cross-over events are where he excels.

Does anybody really want to read these stories in two separate threads?
|
I do
|
These threads gotta merge sometime.

All those that you mentioned, save for Outsiders, are quality comic books though. |
