That good, bad or oof for a Saturday

It would have easily been 1.3 million if they would have signed Ryback and let him come out and shoot on Phil.
|
I don’t think that can be considered a disappointing number. It’ll probably go down, but by how much could tell a story.
|
Damn. I figured the 600k range would have been a good, realistic number.

Quarters going around saying Rollins vs Bron on NXT hit 950,000.

That's all Rollins

Also I feel like if people are just going to constantly float between both shows it's going to hurt Collisions draw. Why waste your Saturday night watching people you can see on Wednesday too? Feels like they had Punk cross over way too soon especially. He's supposed to be the big draw on Saturday, but if he's gonna be on all the shows then Saturday becomes less important. Think they really blew their load wayyyyy too fast on having him pop up over there this soon. They should have held that back for quite a while and had it be more special.

Hmm, I think it was good promotion for Collision. They were in Chicago, so it makes sense to dangle Punk out there, get a giant pop, talk the show up.
|
595k for episode 2, that's what happens when you don't let Miro wrestle!

In other news...
Tiny Khan just spent $55 million of his daddy's money to buy Showbuzz Daily to shut it down and hide Collision's ratings downfall going forward.:rofl::rofl: |

damn @ showbuzzdaily going under, they were a really interesting site, always had lots of data and it was where I first saw (for example) just how insanely high the 60+ viewership is for FOX NEWS

Holy shit, I thought you were joking, xrod. They actually are folding and even made a comment about wrestling trolls on the way out. If it were about bots, could totally have been planted by Tony Khan.
Not a great number for Collision. A drop-off was expected. Often pilots will lose something like 30%. 26% or whatever isn’t horrific. Looks more jarring when you’re talking about an audience of a couple of hundred thousand in the first place. It’s a shame, because Collision has far and away been the better show. It was half-way making AEW interesting and providing hope. Maybe it’s a a bit early to call it, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be inspiring any change anytime soon. |
It’s all just a bit too much, surely?
2 hours Wednesday, an hour Friday, 2 on Saturday and then Forbidden Door on Sunday? And that’s just if you’re an AEW diehard. |
raw - 1.97 million

lol WWEs B show gets 333% more viewers than AEWs B-show heading into a yuge international PPV.
Oo-oo-oo-oooooooooof |

There's way too much wrestling in general and jts bad for everyone. Its bad for the workers health obviously. Its bad for getting guys over (overexposure.) Its bad for creating angles short and long term (only so many fresh matches that can exist, and this is a big one because once youve ran out of match ups creative has nothing for you so this ultimately shortens careers faster than the injuries.) And its bad for the audience for all those reasons above but it also exhausts them and burns them out. The only people who win are the networks who get to sell more ad spots but in truth a hotter product would have more eyeballs so do they even win?
There's way too much wrestling. |

It’s hard to feel sorry for them when they were so smug.
|
Not sure that’s smug. That’s delusional.
|
Yeah, people who say unbelievably dumb things in a smug manner are just the worst, huh?
|
|
I had no clue NXT was getting so close to even Dynamite. I know they’ve been pumping their shows up lately, but it actually seems to be working.
|
Man imagine if the overexposure that another show brings is what causes the audience to dwindle enough that NXT starts winning. Thatd be a hell of a turn.

Some dorks are trying to spin the Collision ratings into a Dynamite vs Collision argument. It’s a Saturday night time slot. Of course the numbers will be worse. Wait until how much it “plummets” during college football season.
Outdated Nielsen ratings metrics don't tell you the whole story. I don't need to see ratings numbers to tell you the true number of unreported viewers (watching on DVR even if days later etc) will be similar for both shows. There’s little evidence AEW have grown beyond their very dedicated group of core viewers, and that’s still good enough in the networks’ eyes to get a billion dollar deal and a new show. |
Triple A should make a ticker for the forums that has the ratings scrolling across the top.
|
That is where I disagree Vito.
It is AEW that made ratings such an important thing. It is why they crowed about good demos until those went down, then they didnt matter. It is why Tiny Khan posted celebration thank you tweets every time they got over a million viewers, then that went down. He isn't posting thank you for 850,000. Then it wasn't the total viewers anymore, but what place they finished for the night. Then when they fell down that list, suddenly Tiny was posting about how great their vagematch ratings were, until those started going down. Then it was that upfronts renewal news.and Billion dollar deal, which didn't happen. Then it was they got this new show because WBD loves AEW, except they still did not get any type of extension on the length of their TV show. This is not the byproduct of dorky fans, dorky fans talk about it because AEW has tried to spin everything since day 1. AEW and their roster have constantly changed their own stance on what actually matters based on whatever can allow them to continue the delusion that they are WAY more successful than they actually are. Jericho is the one who boldly claimed AEW would be beating Raw soon, not some random fan. If they themselves never introduced this shit into the world, then there would be no reason to point it out. But they did, instead of taking criticism and trying to improve, they dig in. So yes, it is fun watching them contradict themselves and what is considered successful depending on the day. |
