Tebow was born this way

DaveBrawl 01-08-2012 11:59 PM

A Tim Tebow/Gaga spawn would probably be the most award winning child of all time.

LOL dear lord. Reading reactions from Steelers fans. They're treating it like the worst loss in franchise history and are calling for a 3-4 year rebuilding plan even though they still went 12-4 and still nearly won with a mostly crippled team.

Evil Vito 01-09-2012 01:32 AM

I do find it really interesting how all 4 Wild Card teams got knocked out in the first week. Been ages since that's happened.

lol thats because this was supposed to be the only real lock game of the weekend lol

Him and Shannon Sharpe were the only players who looked the same with or without their helmet on.

Speaking as what I think I am, A Reasonable Steelers Fan. (Yes we do exist) I don't think it's a rebuiliding plan but I think we do need to get younger in some areas such as Cornerback and Linebacker on Defense. We were that way with Receivers for a few years but got an influx of young talent there and that receiving core kept us in the game really late.

I think they can leave the opportunity opened for a Championship if they get younger in a few areas. If they don't adjust, in my opinion it's gonna be tough.

FearedSanctity 01-09-2012 10:47 AM

My biggest fear playing Pitt was the speed of their WRs. Really feel as though they didn't take advantage of Goodman's inability to cover deep as well as Denver's safeties being a combo of Carter (a rookie) and either Bruton (a special teamer at best most of his career) and Bush (practice squad type). Also terrible when a healthy chunk of your passes are in Bailey's general area. He may not be the best anymore, but he's still arguably top 5. Denver hasn't been able to cover a TE all season and constantly get killed on quick slants. Really surprised Pittsburgh didn't take advantage of some of these glaring weaknesses

As well as being 1 game away from being the #1 seed in the AFC.

Evil Vito 01-09-2012 12:31 PM

Fisher apparently is still deciding between the Rams and Dolphins, but most think the Rams have the edge because they already have a franchise QB installed. With the Dolphins, they'd have to get RGIII during the draft and I just can't the Redskins not trading a shitload to move up and get him.

VanGorder just left the Falcons for Auburn. Wouldn't be surprised if Mularkey gets canned or leaves for another job soon too, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

parkmania 01-09-2012 06:46 PM

Extremely disappointed in the result of last night's game, but unlike owenbrown, I don't believe the world's end is impending.

However, I am really beginning to wonder if there really is something in the water - Steelers can't stay healthy, Penguins can't stay healthy, Pirates can't win against HS JV teams, U Pitt football is U Pitt football, the list goes on and on.

DaveWadding 01-09-2012 06:57 PM

Tebow cashes in!

He gets a $250,000 bonus for winning a playoff game.

Nark Order 01-09-2012 07:59 PM

I sooo want the final 4 to be Texans, Broncos, 9ers, Giants.

FearedSanctity 01-09-2012 08:16 PM

Feeling (probably over) optimistic about the Broncos chances to go all the way. Everyone sees the final score of the last time they played NE and shits all over their chances without actually remembering how that game went. They absolutely DOMINATED NE on the ground and moved the ball with ease, and they never even took advantage of the Patriots 31st ranked pass D. But those 3 fumbles in the 2nd just killed them. It was also the first game without Dawkins as well as the first with Von being limited by his cast for Denver's defense and Brady just killed them.

If Denver calls plays like yesterday and can do even half as well as they did on the ground the last time scoring points will be no issue. My biggest worry is the defense, can't afford to just keep trading scores with the Patriots all day. But they've learned to play without Dawk the last 2 games and Bruton has really stepped up in his place and Von seems to be getting the hang of playing with that cast as well. But Brady is still Brady.

Don't expect Denver to win but I'm optimistic of their chances. But if they can pull off the upset again I'm not sure there's any stopping them. Texans matchup really well against Baltimore IMO and I think there's a good chance they leave with a win. A Texans/Broncos game could really go either way but the biggest key could be the massive wave of momentum Denver would be riding into that game.

But then again they could just get dominated by Brady and the Patriots and none of this will matter. Who knows?

Nark Order 01-09-2012 08:31 PM

I'm fairly nervous for the 9er/Saints but I do think that we can do it if we can create long scoring drives, limit the time Brees has with the football, and make a couple big defensive plays late in the game. The Saints like a really quick pace and the Niners are their best when the pace of the game is very slow and plotting so they can beat people up and impose their will along the way.

Looks like there will be some pretty long grass to play on and the mud will be flowing pretty heavy halfway into the game also, so that will help out a bunch, especially against a dome team like the Saints.

FearedSanctity 01-09-2012 08:39 PM

Want SF to win, but I think NO just may be too much. SF has a damn good defense, but I just don't know if the offense will be able to go score for score all day if the need be. Game will obv be about SF needing to slow down Brees enough for them to keep up, but even a slowed down Saints offense is a lot to handle. Weather could be an issue, but I think it's typically something people put too much stock in when talking about playing dome teams

#1-norm-fan 01-09-2012 08:45 PM

The Seahawks last year in the playoffs, the Jags, Bucs, Panthers and Titans games this season... I don't know if I trust the Saints to beat a good team outdoors.

Falcons try this twice a year and it doesn't go very well. Granted, SF has a much better defense. If the Saints get up early, I don't trust SF much to pull back in distance.

Nark Order 01-09-2012 08:55 PM

Yeah. Also, don't count out Alex Smith doing his best impression of a great quarterback. He does do that from time to time.

Droford 01-09-2012 09:00 PM

Brady Quinn needs to come in and throw one pass to keep the streak of Notre Dame QBs throwing a pass in the NFL alive..its like 60+ years or something but no one from NotreDame has thrown a pass so far and Quinn is the last hope..

Quote:

Very rarely do you get a story fit for Notre Dame boosters and haters. Here is one courtesy of the Wall Street Journal.Reporter Darren Everson points out that the last time a Notre Dame player (there is an asterisk) didn't throw an NFL pass was 1944.
Jimmy Clausen and Brady Quinn, Irish fans turn their lonely eyes to you.
Of course Clausen and Quinn sit behind two of the hottest young quarterbacks -- Cam Newton and Tim Tebow -- in the NFL.
Writes Everson:
After Notre Dame, the next-longest streak belongs to Oregon, surprisingly. The Ducks—who were college-football roadkill for the most part until the 1990s—have a 63-year run going, due largely to three longtime quarterbacks who played in different eras: Norm Van Brocklin (1949-60), Dan Fouts (1973-87) and Chris Miller (1987-95, 1999).
Don't count the Irish out, though. Their streak has been on life support before and pulled through. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, no Notre Dame quarterback threw a pass, but running backs (including Jerome Bettis), punters (Hunter Smith) and receivers who used to play quarterback (Arnaz Battle, Carlyle Holiday) pitched in.

Here's the list of Notre Dame players on all of the remaining playoff teams:
Sergio Brown FS New England Patriots
David Bruton FS Denver Broncos
Ryan Grant RB Green Bay Packers
Ryan Harris T Denver Broncos
Eric Olsen G New Orleans Saints
Brady Quinn QB Denver Broncos
Allen Rossum DB San Francisco 49ers
Justin Tuck DE New York Giants
Ian Williams DT San Francisco 49ers
Tom Zbikowski SS Baltimore Ravens

I guess only Houston doesn't have an Irish player.

Triple Naitch 01-09-2012 09:19 PM

My money's on Justin Tuck.

Droford 01-09-2012 09:21 PM

Someone should tell the Packers to let Grant throw a pass? I would think that would be more likely than Brady Quinn.

Droford 01-09-2012 09:25 PM

My Triple 5 Star Stone Cold Gold Plated Lead Pipe Super Lock of the Millenium:

Denver +13.5

not saying they'll win or otherwise Id tell you to take the moneyline..but anyway..
