The update is pretty great. I can now get rid of that stupid overscan and it's very fast. Probably celebrate with some Rayman and Mario World tonight.

Nah, the interface is now a lot faster and it also has a setting for TVs that overscan the Wii U picture.

Europe also has to wait until tomorrow for the VC stuff.

Virtual Console arrived today although might be just in North America with the majority just being the former and current 30 cents promotion games.

I like the fact that they're evidently begging Wii users to upgrade.

No they didn't. It explicitly said on that <s>spam marketing</s> WiiConnect message that it's not an upgrade, it's a whole new system!

As someone else said, elsewhere, the people those messages are targettings are, most likely, the ones that have their Wiis in a box, somewhere. So they'll not really help things.

Just ordered the 8gb basic Wii-U, pondering over what to get for my first game, maybe Mario Bros U for the nostalgia trip, or Zombie U as it's a bit cheaper and I hear good things about it.

Mario U is good and the game is getting Luigi DLC which is a full game of new levels.

Ordered NSMBU, and I'm gonna get some extra Wii-motes so I can take it downstairs and play it with the family, which is something I haven't done in years, being an antisocial PS3 gamer for so long. :)

That is something I'll say about the Wii U. It is pretty good at getting the whole family to play. Nintendoland was popular at my house on Christmas day. The runaway leader in terms of popularity amongst the family was the Luigi ghost game in Nintendoland.

Sounds good, I'll try and pick up Nintendoland in a sale sometime.

The spiritual successor of Eternal Darkness, Shadow of the Eternals, was recently announced to be getting a PC and Wii U release. The game was revealed to be crowdfunded, will be done in an episodic style with each episode having 1 character (12 episodes overall), and is planned for a late 2014 release.

Honestly, it's the only thing going for it. That's great for me, but your mileage may vary. If you managed to enjoy the Gamecube, you can probably enjoy this. It's likely to get even less 3rd party games.

New Super Mario U for classic 2D Marioing & Nintendo Land are fantastic. 2 3rd Party games in ZomibiU and Monster Hunter 3 are also great.

After that, we've got Pikmin 3 in the summer and a lot in the pipeline. How does Zelda: Wind Waker HD grab you by the end of the year? Next month after E3 should make things a lot clearer for the Wii U for the rest of the year.

I'd probably just keep looking for deals until you see a price that's a decent chunk of change off the price. Some stores are just trying to clear the units they have now.

I swoon for wind waker, have they said anything about additional content added into the game or is it the same game with a gloss filter? and I will most likely deal shop for one till the WiiU zelda drops...then i'll buy it at whatever price tbh.

They just kinda showed some shots of it looking vaguely porcelain and said it's coming soon so far. They didn't add anything to Ocarina of Time 3D though.

There is a rumour that the next 3D Mario will be hitting the Wii U by the end of the year too, so hope that one's true. If you want a Nintendo fix now though, I'd probably go with a 3DS if you don't have one yet. The number of quality games it's getting at the moment is phenomenal.

Think there was something about them tweaking the traveling to make it less cumbersome/boring and some of the quests or dungeons getting revamped a bit.

Precursor Games announces they had no problems porting the Cry3Engine for Shadows of the Eternals on the Wii U. They also ended up confirming past statements by Crytek who hinted the Wii U would have no problems running on the engine regardless of what EA says.
