A.J. Burnett is going to be moved, they're saying Toronto is in the lead at the moment as the team to swing a deal for him, but I see the Yanks sweetening the pot. Thing is he sucks too.

the yanks "sweetening" the pot? who the fuck do they have? those idiots traded away their entire minor league system to sign a bunch of old ass players . i hope to god they find themselves in another slump and miss the playoffs this year. it's exactly what baseball needs. teams like chicago, washington, san diego, and texas in the playoffs not new york, boston, and atlanta year after year.

Loose Cannon 07-16-2005 02:38 PM

Boston/NY = ratings

ratings = revenue

revenue = money

baseball likes money

Conclusion: Baseball needs Boston and NY

The Miz 07-16-2005 02:45 PM

There are pitchers on the market but who are the Yankees gonna give up? Cashman says he doesn't want to trade Cano Hughes or Duncan, the only players a team would be interested in trading good pitching for.

and lol @ whoever used "Rangers" and "playoffs" in same sentence.

The point of the unbalanced schedule is so that to win your division you must beat your division opponents. as of this morning, the white sox are 28-5 within the al central. how is that decieving? don't give me that bullshit that the sox have only beat up on lowly teams like detriot & cleveland. the al central, until recently, had 4 out of 5 teams OVER .500.

lay off finding excuses on why the sox are doomed to fail. best record in baseball, best division record, best away record, 11 game lead over a very good team in the twins.

as for the sox not being a playoff threat (in which you posted a long ass pointless post about stats from last year making a difference this year)... i'll just let mr. derek jeter sum it up.

"Come playoff time, there are teams that you hope to play and some teams that you really hope to avoid. I really think that the team you hope to avoid this year is the white sox, they are playing amazing baseball right now and in a short series I'm not sure if anyone can beat them." ~Derek Jeter on the Dan Patrick Show (ESPN 1000)

The Miz 07-16-2005 02:52 PM

Well if Derek Jeter said it how could we argue

CWS = 2005 World Series Champions. Smart ball!!!!!!!!

if teams like washington or chicago make the world series this year, there will be ratings. baseball doesn't need new york and boston...

the angels/giants world series = ratings

don't be a typical idiot yankees fan and brag about how much we all need them to win for baseball to make money.

RoXer 07-16-2005 02:56 PM

Remember when the A's took 5 out of 6 games from the ChiSox?

Joey Slugs 07-16-2005 02:56 PM

If the Yanks and Red Sox are so important... why am I watching Chicago and Cleveland on FOX right now? You would think, even in the Chicago market, the White Sox would be on their normal Comcast Sports Chicago station and the "big boys" would have the national spotlight.

Funny.

The Miz 07-16-2005 02:57 PM

YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD YESSSSSSSSSS

HE-GONE

RUN SCOTTY

CMON BIG FRANK

3-0 GOOD GUYS

Oakland is a whole other story. I like the A's and respect the way they get things done (the last Zito and Harden starts?????? AMAZING!!!)

But for some fucking reason... we can't beat them. We were handed our only sweep of the year from that team and we are 3-22 in Oakland since 2001 (and only 6 wins overall in that same period).

I'm just glad the Sox dont have to play them again this year.

The reason for the drop was because everyone was obsessed with New York-9/11 the year before (and god was i happy the yankees lost that one). That and shitheads on the east coast (FOX has a HUGE bias) can't be bothered with a west coast series (even though it was 10x better than yankees/d-backs)

DegenerationY 07-16-2005 03:47 PM

The country has been conditioned to not care when the East Coast teams are ousted. ESPN hardly covered the Giants/Angels series and thusly, hardly anybody cared.

Except for those of us in California.

Joey Slugs 07-16-2005 04:06 PM

Chicago White Sox: First team to 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and now 60 wins.

Loose Cannon 07-16-2005 04:09 PM

LOL Giambi with a bunt

Nervous Ferret 07-16-2005 04:20 PM

LC find the ratings from the '00 WS for him. I'm sure they're about the same as '01, thus disaproving his theory.

and the 2000 Series wasn't much higher than the 2002 Series. (take into account that the 2000 ratings were made up by, i would say, 60% of the overall market by new york alone)

Loose Cannon 07-16-2005 04:57 PM

lol, "I would say"

you just read the fact at the bottom of the page. :nono:

Not that I agree or anything, but it's an interesting view.

YOUR Hero 07-17-2005 11:02 AM

Exactly, no respect for the numbers he's put up year after year. "Has the changed the game?" - Fuck off, nobody but 2or3 would be in the hall if that was the criteria.

OssMan 07-17-2005 11:06 AM

'69 METS BABY

The Miz 07-17-2005 11:41 AM

What a fucking idiot. One of his reasons was he shouldn't be in the hall of fame because he doesn't have a "title" like Hammerin Hank, The Babe, Joltin' Joe etc. :|

This is the same moron who said the Eagle would've won the Superbowl if TO didn't play

OssMan 07-17-2005 12:28 PM

the deal the O's are trying to get is Jorge Julio, Hayden Penn and Larry Bigbie for AJ Burnett and Mike Lowell or Juan Encarnacion :(

bigbie :'(

OssMan 07-17-2005 02:01 PM

FUCK YOU MIKE HAMPTON

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:17 PM

A-Rod just jacked one out of Fenway Park

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:35 PM

A's win again

Remember when Corey Lidle won like 13 in row a couple years back for them?

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:51 PM

god this Cano guy. Chuck Knoublach all over again

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:53 PM

I swear to god, everytime somebody makes an error when Rivera pitches, Rivera starts to suck.

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:53 PM

happens every fucking time

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:56 PM

phew, double play

Loose Cannon 07-17-2005 08:57 PM

chalk one up baby. Hey BCWWF, check the wild card standings

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-17-2005 10:03 PM

Damn I wish the Sox saved some of those runs in the 2nd game for the rest of the series

The Miz 07-17-2005 10:07 PM

I only saw like one inning of the game but GOD DAMN Sheffield killed that pitch

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-17-2005 10:08 PM

Damon's hit streak stayed alive atleast

Bricktop 07-17-2005 11:27 PM

good series between the yanks and sox. Now if only the yanks can fix the whole starting pitching issue.

Melky Cabrera was also sent down to Columbus. After the inside the park home run issue, I don't blame them.

Evil Vito 07-17-2005 11:32 PM

After today's game, I'm still not ready to write the Mets off...if they are still a good ways away back in the wildcard about 10 days from today, I think they should start shopping the vets.

I'd deal away Braden Looper or Roberto Hernandez in a heartbeat to a contender needing BP help...the one I'd like to trade with the most is the Sox, I'd be more than content dealing one of them to the Sox for Kelly Shoppach (who's ML ready and won't get to start for the Sox because of Tek)
