James Irvin is the name batted around. They are doing 2 more fights on the show so now it's a 13 fight card. Also talk of putting Matt Hughes on the show or more moving Ortiz vs. Machida on the show instead of the Vegas one. Even rumours UFC is trying to mend fences with Extreme Couture.
I think they should send Kalin Starnes vs Travis Lutter over there. Starnes would when by TKO in the 2nd round when Lutter get gas'ed chasing him around the ring.

And Starnes wouldn't win by KO because he would have to throw a punch first. |
Liddell still wanted to fight even though he tore his hamstring :o
gutted :( |
On the London show, don't know if it's the main event or just another big fight but I heard from a very reliable source Michael Bisping will be fighting Chris Leben or Jason McDonald.

I think the next question is when is Hughes and Serra going to happen
By the way, I want everyone to remember what I said about Bisping from "my source" whenever anyone questions me on either this forum or the wrestling one. And feel free to check the time I posted it against any website who posts it after.
Of course, it if doesn't happen, forget everything :D |
Putting Bisping on the London card makes a lot of sense, even though its such a quick turnaround. Big props to him, if he does take a fight to help out the company. I think he could take either Leben or Macdonald, so both seem like good fights for him.
I would just throw Okami vs Silva on the show as the main event. The way I see it, Silva wasnt going to be on the July show (Rampage vs Forrest) and likely wouldnt be on the August show (Brock vs Coleman). So its not like they need him anytime soon to headline. Assuming both guys are healthy, I would do that fight. It would also plant the seeds of Bisping vs Silva down the line (maybe next year in England). If you did all of that, you could get Irvin vs Rashad, Bisping vs Leben/McDonald and Silva vs Okami. That a pretty good substitute for Liddell. |
Lasnar is gonna fight Mark Coleman??
LOL |
yea that old man is gonna get his ass kicked

Looks like it could be Nog vs. Mir in London for the title too.
man how pissed would werdum be
Well Werdum is already fighting on the show. I know they were also seriously considering Gonzaga to fight Nog in London too but if he fights, it's against Mir.

I really dont like Rich but i have a ton of respect for him doing this. Although almost any fighter that is in it because they love the sport would try to fight every show too.
Matt Hughes vs. Thiago Alves is on for the London show.
Thiago is going to fuck him up..
god damnit... I want to see hughes fight serra
You know what. I'm taking Hughes in that one. I think Alves is still a tad bit raw. Especially for someone like Hughes. I think Matt will get a big time win here.
I'm fucking excited and angry at the same time right now. Raleigh is having the first MMA (legal) card in NC in 14 years and I'm off the show because I've been out with an injury for two months. I'm excited we finally became legal here but it just bums me out to know that for 12 years I've drove out of state to compete and I'm missing my first shot to do it in my own state. Lots of my buddies are on the card though, Team R.O.C.; we have the most fighters on the card.
There is something about this site that makes people want to do real fights. I've been seriously considering doing one fight (and probably just one fight) for a good few months now.
Rob, brother - there really is nothing like it. Like I said, even missing this one I've done several cards in VA and SC just because it wasn't legal here and been working towards progressing myself for MMA for 12 years (started with a wrestling base). There is nothing on this planet like stepping into a cage with someone else and just going all out.
Chances are your MMA skills are at a better level than mine though. My BJJ is decent and stand up is coming along. There are no wrestlers here in England though so that aspect is always gonna be shit. Plus I'm weighing just over 190lbs now and probably shouldn't even think about it until I get closer to 170lbs.
thats why u cut weight haha
I could cut 7lbs no problems now but I'd still look and feel worse not being a smaller weight. Plus I've no intention of doing this more than once.
if u did it right u could cut to 170 from where ur at no problem
i mean it would be hard but u wouldnt have to cut off a limb if you get what im saying
I'm not in good enough shape now to even think of it. And it ain't even worth discussing since I'm not doing it until I get a purple belt at least and I'm never gonna cut over 20lbs for anything, nevermind a fight.
Yeah, i was never really a fan of cutting :o
Not even for wrestling. I always stayed pretty healthy and close to my competition weight so I never typically had to cut more than 10 lbs. I know I could if I needed to because cutting never really was hard for me, just had no desire to drop a weight class. |
So, is the London card complete? Any more fights to be added?

Matt Hughes saved that card IMO. And yeah, fuck you guys I'm still a Matt Hughes fan. Yay wrestlers.
Oh, and 'big shock' Chuck pulled out of the card he didn't want to do in the first place with an 'injury'.
I like wrestlers..

That's someone elses leg :shifty:
Nah, holy shit though. |
i guess he coooould have used make-up..... just to play some devils advocate here
Chuck wanted to fight though and was doing promotion for weeks here. Once he was told to fight here, I wouldn't doubt he was all business from that point on.
Quote:
Pretty sure Chuck would fight in the backlot if asked. |
I've heard something about having to pay 2 lots of taxes when you fight in England but I don't know how true that is.
HAHA I just found this big thread that Starnes put up on sherdog... I know that no one wants to hear about him anymore but this is pretty good:
http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/kal...es-774287.html |
like it was said, chuck would fight anywhere as long as he can punch you in the face.
Travis Lutter and Joe Doerksen both released.
Kendell Grove will be fired when he loses next month too. |
To the Brits
I have a couple of spare tickets for the UFC show in London on the go if anyone fancies it. |
Saw Lutter's firing coming: he is a threat to anyone who can't get out of his submissions in the first round. Otherwise, he's a pushover.
Anyone watching the Dream II show?
Is Dream PPV??
Yeah, or channel-surfing.net stream.
There is going to be a segment on ESPN's show 'E:60' tonight at 7pm est about Kimbo Slice for anyone that is interested.

its a repeat from the fall

Bisping vs. Leben and Kelly vs. Goulet are both off. UFC is lining up replacement fights for the Brits.
Bit pissed that Leben isn't fighting. Thought Bisping and him would have been an absolute war. But i suppose theres little the UFC can do.
Can't believe Leban isn't going to fight do to a DUI arrest from 3 years ago..
Fuck the police.. |
Rob, what was his probation violation or whatever?? Like, what did he do to deserve jail time??
Yeah it's a probation violation from a DUI in 2005. He couldn't leave the country without handing himself in.
What was the violation though?? I read he's having to serve 35 day in the pokie, and will only be release like two weeks before the fight, but I wonder what he did to fuck up his probation..
The DUI.
So he got a DUI in 2005 that he was on probation for, and since got another DUI, which he's having to serve time for??
As far as I know, the first.
Yeah but he had to do something to violate his probation..
He no showed several mandated drink education classes. Apparently he was expecting a fine. Oh well.
Damn..
A few hours a week compared to 35 day in jail.. He should've gone to the classes.. |
Come on, are you questioning the smarts of Chris Leben?
im suprised hes only gotten in trouble for alcohol

I  Little Evil but can't see him winning this.. Faber is a machine..

Faber is amazing though.. The dude never gasses and he get in, and out of the weirdest positions.. He throws hellacious bows from inside the guard, easily takes peoples back from the ground, or standing, and even gave up his back to Jeff Curran for like 3 minutes and Curran was never even able to get one arm around his neck..
IMO Faber could beat anyone in, or around, his weight class ATM.. I want to see him in UFC fighting big name guys.. |
It's only a matter of time. I think it's a very good possibility they will close WEC soon and add one or two divisions to the UFC.
im pretty sure the plan was for pulver or whoever beats pulver to lead that weight division into the UFC
Urijah Faber must be seen by more people.

New York, NY, May 7, 2008 -- On Saturday, May 31, the best mixed martial arts programming on television will be on Spike TV, as the network presents a special night dedicated to UFC® superstar Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell. The homage to Liddell will feature two Spike TV premiere events not to be missed by true UFC fans.
At 9:00pm ET/PT, Spike presents the world television premiere of "Ultimate Iceman: Chuck Liddell," an hour-long documentary which chronicles the life of one of the sport’s true titans, in and out of the Octagon™. Spike debuts a special, "Liddell vs. Silva: UFC® Unleashed™-Special Edition" at 10:00pm ET/PT featuring the never-before-seen on cable battle between Liddell and Wanderlei Silva, which was fought last December at UFC 79: NEMESIS. This historic contest featured the matchup that fight fans waited years to see. Liddell, the biggest name in the sport and former UFC light-heavyweight champion, sought to finally answer the challenges of the long-time PRIDE® superstar Wanderlei "The Axe Murderer" Silva. The special includes additional backstage exclusive footage. Fighting out of San Luis Obispo, CA, "The Iceman" has a 21-5 professional record. Considered by many to be the biggest star ever in the history of mixed martial arts, Liddell successfully defended his title five times, all by knockout or submission, before giving it up to Rampage Jackson last year. He is currently recovering from a severe hamstring injury he suffered while training, which forced him to withdraw from a fight with "The Ultimate Fighter® 2" Rashad Evans at UFC 85 in June. Spike TV will kick off this special night dedicated to the "Iceman" at 8:00pm ET/PT with a telecast of the hard-hitting special, "Ultimate Knockouts 4," also featuring some of Liddell’s most memorable bouts. Spike TV is available in 96.1 million homes and is a division of MTV Networks. A unit of Viacom (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), MTV Networks is one of the world’s leading creators of programming and content across all media platforms. Spike TV’s Internet address is www.spike.com. |

Announced coaches for TUF 8 ARE
Nog and Mir |
Awesome. Nog can teach his guys how to take a beating and then pull out a submission. :shifty:
That's if they understand a word he says. And Frank Mir coaching?
Mir knows his shit though.. Watch WEC..
Nog will have to rely on his assistances a good bit though, due to him barely speaking English.. |
Joe Stevenson is a fag BTW..
Mir struggles in training for every fight according to a guy I know in Vegas. He constantly see's him working at the Rhino or jumping from strip club to strip club.
And why is Joey Stevenson a fag? |
