Exactly, Flagrants are simply a player intentionally trying to injure a player. That was hardly intentional. I would call the foul Pau pulled on Dwight Howard the other day a flagrant, but not this one.

Skippord 03-13-2010 02:46 AM

I'm pretty sure that all the referees in the NBA are biased against the thuggets

not an observation based on tonight's game which i didn't watch, but just in general

alvarado52 03-13-2010 02:47 AM

and Lou is a legit player. Always liked his game. Lopez on the other hand is garbage...i cant stand him. The only reason he got into the NBA is some GM prolly mixed him up with his brother and accidentally drafted him.

I wouldn't put anything past Steve Kerr.

Home fans of any time in any sport almost always believe they never get calls regardless of what anyone else says.

It's the way it's works.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-13-2010 04:47 PM

Star players in the NBA get special treatment, that's a given. With the calls themselves plus the arguing. I'm sure David Stern really doesn't want to see Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, etc. fouled out or ejected from a TNT primetime game. The only "stars" that typically foul out are big men, now one could argue it's because they are more likely to foul, which could be true, but I think it's because they are less of a draw to the average fan. Watching a big man go to work isn't as exciting as watching somebody break a defender off the dribble and take it to the rim. That's why everyone rocks Air Jordans and not Air O'Neals.

I don't know if there are certain teams that get calls though. Part of me thinks that any team that is doing well will typically have a big star/draw ratings. Even if it's in a shitty market where people don't watch/go to the games like in Miami, they still have a big star with Dwayne Wade who is "interesting" to the common fan. At the same time though there are obviously "big" match-up's like Celtics/Lakers, Cavs/Lakers that are really going to generate a lot of interest.

After listening to the 30 for 30 podcast with Dan Klores, I'm about to get back into the Knicks. I think it's time.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 03-14-2010 08:30 PM

Celtics crushed in the 4th quarter today against Cavs. Pretty sure the window has closed on the Celtics winning a championship, at least they got one.

Loose Cannon 03-14-2010 09:03 PM

god, ESPN is doing one of thier movie things right now and it's about Reggie Mille raping the Knicks. lol

Yeah it was great. The 8 points in 18.2 seconds is awesome no matter how many times I've seen it.

Reggie Miller still a prissy bitch jump shooter though.

SammyG 03-16-2010 03:35 AM

Lakers looked like shit tonight.

Juan 03-16-2010 03:38 AM

I dunno, 56% shooting isn't that bad. The defense kinda fell apart for like 3 mins toward the end there though. I've watched every Laker game this year and I've seen uglier victories. This was basically a shoot-out.

Juan 03-16-2010 03:39 AM

Lakers do need to stop turning the ball over so much though. 24 TO's tonight.

SammyG 03-16-2010 11:13 PM

my boy tyreke tearin' it up

Juan 03-16-2010 11:14 PM

He's good, but I hope his team loses tonight.

Juan 03-17-2010 01:12 AM

Bynum goes for 21 points, 12 rebounds (9-14/64& FG) and Gasol goes for 28 points, 12 rebounds (12-14/83% FG)

The Franchise 03-17-2010 01:50 AM

Go Suns :D

That is all.

152 pts tonight

DaveWadding 03-17-2010 03:15 AM

Ron Artest and Kobe Bryant were named the toughest defenders in the NBA in a poll of 173 players conducted by Sports Illustrated. Artest earned 42 percent of the votes and Bryant received 13 percent in results announced Tuesday.

Dwight Howard of the Magic was third with 12 percent of the votes, Kevin Garnett of the Celtics was fourth with 6 percent and Shane Battier of the Rockets was fifth with 4 percent.

The results are included in the latest issue, which hits newsstands and mailboxes today. The poll was conducted several months ago.

DaveWadding 03-21-2010 01:15 PM

SammyG 03-21-2010 07:16 PM

Of course I wouldn't wanna give him up. Dude can explode any night. but, he slows the Lakers down. This doesn't change anything. The Lakers are still repeating.

Agent Zero gets 30 days in a halfway house, 2 years probation, 400 hours community service, and has to register as a gun offender.

Hmmm, seems kinda light.

SammyG 03-26-2010 05:18 PM

And this is the same dude that had 500 glocks at his place.

RP 03-26-2010 07:37 PM

if the pacers win tonight, i'm gunna go murder a cow

RP 03-26-2010 08:01 PM

Danny Granger is doing everything he can possibly do to not let the Pacers draft John Wall or Evan Turner.

Jim O'Brien needs to be fire right now. I mean, in halftime Bird needs to walk down and fire him. WHAT THE FUCK

RP 03-26-2010 09:01 PM

Gertner is not here, the best 3 players to come out of the draft in 5 years are at stake and OFCOURSE THE FUCKING PACERS ARE BLOWING THE UTAH JAZZ OUT RIGHT NOW. FUck my life

Juan 03-26-2010 09:03 PM

wow, wtf Lakers. Only 28 points in the first half. Oklahoma has 42 :n:

RP 03-26-2010 09:16 PM

Thanks for showing up the last 3 weeks of the season Danny

Skippord 03-26-2010 09:36 PM

MELOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

RP 03-26-2010 09:36 PM

MELLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO

RP 03-26-2010 09:37 PM

Somehow the Pacers are still mathmatically alive and the Raptors will have to have a monumental collapse and so far its happening, but i wont let myself get sucked in.

Skippord 03-26-2010 09:45 PM

Damn the Pacers beat the Jazz pretty bad

RP 03-26-2010 09:48 PM

Granger decided to come out and have the best game of his career. 44points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, 1 block.

He's easily the player of the week this week. I think he's averaged like 36 points a game the last 5.

RP 03-26-2010 09:54 PM

actually he's averaged 33.6 for the last 5 games

Juan 03-26-2010 09:54 PM

Not bad at all

RP 03-26-2010 10:01 PM

27.8 ppg for Granger in march

RP 03-27-2010 12:56 AM

this from ESPN

Brandon Rush has had a forgettable career thus far, but as we head into the homestretch he may be on his way to a milestone of sorts. Rush has a PER of just 9.96 in his second pro season, but somehow leads the Pacers in minutes played with 2,159 --157 more than the next closest player, Troy Murphy.

If he manages to maintain his lead, he'll claim the dubious distinction of being the worst player ever to lead his team in minutes. My search through the record books unearthed only two other players in the post-merger era to lead their team in minutes with a single-digit PER: Bruce Bowen with San Antonio in 2003-04, and Jason Collins with the Nets a season later.

But those were two of the best defensive players of the decade (if not ever, in Bowen's case), so it's obvious why they played so much. Rush is just an average defender, making his usage more perplexing.

thanks Jim O'Brien

SammyG 03-27-2010 02:12 PM

Hope the Thunder get the 8 seed so the Lakers can sweep them.

Brujesino 03-28-2010 06:50 AM

i dont think it will be a sweep for sure the thunder would win game 3 or 4 but the lakers would win the series 4-1 MAYBE 4-2

McLegend 03-30-2010 06:56 PM

Time to break out the champagne.

Nets won their 10th game baby. Still got the record. WHOOOOOOO

RoXer 03-30-2010 10:01 PM

Flip Murray with a crasy hook shot from three quarters court at the end of the third quarter. Didn't count though. :-(

SammyG 03-31-2010 08:52 PM

Starting to give up. I don't think the Lakers have a chance at winning the championship this year. Seems like they don't give a fuck out there.

I think it's just the finger injury. Dude has been playing injured for the majority of the season.

Juan 04-01-2010 04:17 PM

Emperor Smeat 04-02-2010 09:29 PM

ESPN was pleading and drooling last playoffs and last 3 years for a Kobe vs Lebron NBA Finals. Only when the Celtics got good in 2008 did they switch to the Celtics vs Lakers for that year as a dream match.

Milwakue fans are retarded. Bogut gets injured on a dunk where Amare barely touches him. He's basically shielding himself from Bogut's back. Now fans are booing every time he touches the ball and are chanting "kick him out".
