Nice bitch move by Lucic. And here's a shock, the guy he sucker punched is under 6 foot and well under 200 pounds. What a pussy.

The Leafs are the youngest team in the NHL, but why they won't fully rebuild is because the fanbase and the owners are waaaaaaaaaaay too impatient.

Blitz, your a smart guy, so tell me something. Why in your opinion are the Leafs so against arebuild? In 5 years they could be where Los Angeles is now, a team that bottomed out, stocked picks and has an exceptional core of young players. In 5-7 years, they could be another Washington or Pittsburgh, because you and I both know you don't get players like Crosby, Ovy, Backstrom, Green, Semin, Malkin, Staal or Fleury from FA signings very often.

In this day and age of salary cap restrictions, you build through the draft and the underrated tool that is an ELC because having a huge budget means nothing anymore.

they lost the 1st game of the season.http://www.tpww.net/forums/images/icons/icon12.gif

What Gertner said. I would tend to shift the blame more towards the owners. They don't wanna admit there's a problem, so they just look for quick fixes.

Why can't we be excited about a good start? When your team starts the previous season with 8 losses, and then starts the next one with 4 straight wins, don't even try to tell me that that isn't reason to be excited. No, it's not reason to call for the cup, but every team has it's share of dickhead fans. I just take issue with implying that Toronto is the only team with that problem.

Lara Emily 12-26-2010 11:07 AM

The Owners won;t do shit because the Leafs make money even as a shit team, so why spend all that extra money. The owners don't give a shit about winning as long as people keep spending ridiculous amounts of money on tickets. Leafs are slowly becoming the Pittsburgh Pirates of hockey

Blitz 12-27-2010 06:39 AM

Always buying tickets means that the fans always support the team, even in bad times. I don't see how that's a bad thing. The owners should be trying to build a winning team because we support them. Which is why I tend to place more of the blame on the ownership.

Londoner 12-27-2010 07:05 AM

After a year of following NHL properly have finally decided to follow Anaheim i think, just noticed as of late i do enjoy watching them. Got their game v LA kings on atm, dunno the result.

El Fangel 12-27-2010 07:52 AM

They also have Getzlaf <15

Yeah it's definitely thew owners but they're not gonna change.

Gertner 12-28-2010 02:19 PM

This is where I disagree with Lara Emily. The owners want to win because home playoff games means more money. They just don't want to do the work. They want to win now and not build the right way. I just look at this team and don't understand what they are doing. Their offense is terrible, their special teams is bad. They aren't big, their goaltending is good, but that's it. Even Burke's trades make no sense. I HATED the Stalberg for Versteeg trade with a passion because I always felt that Versteeg was a product of the team. Versteeg is a team worst -13. Not good. They dealt Stalberg who is 23, 6"4 215, can skate and shoot. You don't deal players like that. It's already at the point where I watch just to see Colton Orr fight. I'm almost apathetic towards them and will watch my Utah Jazz play over watch the Leafs. I just don't care anymore.

Gertner 12-28-2010 02:20 PM

That Kopitar pass to Dustin Brown last night was ridiculous.

If they truly WANTED to win, then they would hire scouts, draft well and in a few years they could be in the playoffs again and making the money that that they wish to make. How they do not see this is beyond me.

Leafs regular season tickets are outrageously priced, I cant imagine playoff tickets ever being in a normal joes price range.

Spend money now, to make a fuckton later. Simple as that.

Finally.

Gertner 12-28-2010 08:58 PM

They have actually beefed up their scouting. Talent takes time to develop, the Leafs are just throwing stuff and a wall and hoping enough sticks so they can sneak into the playoffs.

Corndad 12-28-2010 10:41 PM

Crosby is insane. 4 more points (2 goals, 2 assists) tonight vs Thrashers.

El Fangel 12-29-2010 12:18 AM

65 in 37( or 38) Games?

LoDownM 12-29-2010 03:57 PM

12 Games to get 18 Goals. Think he's gonna miss 50 in 50 by 2 games.

parkmania 12-29-2010 04:21 PM

And he's missed a couple empty nets and a couple gimme's along the way, so if he's within 2 it'll probably eat at him a little bit.

Booing Carey Price will be in fashion again soon.

Corndad 12-31-2010 06:36 PM

Winter Classic moved back to 8pm tomorrow night.

Smart move by NHL for once. I think will look sweet on tv for all those watching.

Also all of those lucky enough like myself to get to go like knowing we wont be fighting the rain the entire time. I can't freakin wait for this.

OssMan 12-31-2010 06:40 PM

Is it true the cheapest ticket was like $500? I wouldn't even want to go that bad

LoDownM 12-31-2010 06:59 PM

Oh good, 8pm EST means I don't have to worry about over sleeping.

Carey Price is not the problem right now. The rest of the team is.

I believe it was like $140.00-$150.00 for the ones we got. True story, they are actually my wedding gift from my future brother in law so I can't say for sure but believe it was around that. I know people were selling them for close to $500 like you said.

El Fangel 12-31-2010 07:15 PM

scalpers making some dough.

I didnt mean to imply it was his fault. Just that it's what Habs fans tend to do. Single out a player and pound him. They've got practise doing it to Price, I can see them focusing on him again.

El Fangel 01-01-2011 08:45 PM

Lapierre traded to the Ducks for .....Nothing....

Awesome.

Droford 01-01-2011 08:55 PM

I made a bet with someone at work that the Caps would win tonight AND the Steelers would lose tomorrow.

I hope I dont lose the bet.

LoDownM 01-01-2011 09:28 PM

I love the blimp shots during these.

Droford 01-01-2011 09:29 PM

I honestly think the game looks cooler at night. Bet they move it to primetime from now on.

YOUR Hero 01-01-2011 09:53 PM

Just about forgot about it! - just turned it on

Droford 01-01-2011 10:22 PM

BS call on Laich there..pft, I feel like Im watching the Steelers play.

It's not like he was worth anything. And they did get 2 prospects for him. A minor leaguer and a 5th round pick. Montreal wins this deal.

Droford 01-01-2011 11:37 PM

Happy the Caps are winning but the ice conditions are terrible and Im just hoping they can play the next 7 minutes and not have anyone get hurt.

parkmania 01-01-2011 11:47 PM

Credit where it's due: Varlomov was absolutely a beast tonight.

Droford 01-01-2011 11:49 PM

that was a crazy last two minutes

A decent third liner for a crappy dman and a throwaway pick (most likely)

Thats a win?

Almost as good as the return on Halak...

Emperor Smeat 01-02-2011 12:34 AM

Rumor for next year's Classic might involve Blackhawks at Red Wings or Rangers at Flyers.
