Has he ever been off?
|
Can't believe the Colts let Clint Session go to the Jags. But on a good note, Manning said he is willing to take less money if it gets the Colts the key players they need.

Eagles sign Vince Young. Is he really going to play second fiddle to Michael Vick, or does he think he can get a starting job?
I see the Broncos signed Willis McGahee. Whatever. |
God I can't wait for Vick to get hurt and Vince Young has to head the Eagles.

Hate that so many key players from that team are now gone. :( |
Peyton gets a 5 year, $90 million deal.

Im pretty happy right now.. Lost Bush but picked up a stud replacement who cwn be plugged right in..
Dunno whats gonna happen with all our RBs though.. Thomas Ingram Sproles Ivory Betts Jones Hamilton Wynn I see us keeping PT, Sproles, Ingram, and Ivory but some teqm is gonna get a steal with a guy like ahamilton.. he is a beast on special teams and would have been our 3rd down pounder last year until his ACL injury.. I just hope we keep Ivory.. |
Also, they will prolly cut Heath Evans..
:( |
omg omg omg more signings. Quentin Mikell, Mike Sims Walker, Harvey Dahl, Zac Diles, Justin Bannan, Al Harris (meh), and we might be getting Ronnie Brown too.. KEEP EM COMINNNN, so excited about football.
|
Osi to report to camp, good he finally came to.
|
Jerry Jones...wake the fuck up.
|
Cowboys are quiet, besides parting ways with Roy Williams.
HE AINT GONNA PLAY. |
Fat Albert was a no show at Pats camp today with everyone assuming he failed a conditioning test while another rumor is Haynesworth is currently restructuring his contract similar to Chad Johnson.
Burress looks like he might be picking the Steelers over the Giants although ESPN is saying the Jets are currently interested in him. I'd assume the plan with Young and Vick for the Eagles is to use Young for QB rushes plays and keep Vick for the passing because Vick has a better arm than Young. It could also save Vick's legs for later in the season or playoffs so he can be used in QB rushes. Broncos are rumored to only be giving Tebow a 1-year window of opportunity as a starter and if it fails, they could trade/release him and go after Luck in the next draft if they are that bad. Right now the Bengals almost seemed locked for 1st pick with all the dumb moves they've made. |
Eagles sign Cullen Jenkins.
Wake the fuck up, rest of the NFL. |
Philadelphia's Purple Drank market just exploded
|
It's kinda weird that the Phins have two previos Hiesman winning first round pick RBs who are former Saints..
I think our new hiesman winning first round pick RB will work out better.. |
Plaxico meeting with the 49ers. Most likely to get more money with toner teams by making them think he could sign. I don't suspect him to go to SF, but Crabtree is injured...

No confirmation on if the Colts can afford Mathis yet. I know they'll definitely sign Reggie Wayne.
Honestly think if the Colts were so adamant about saving money and having to make tough decisions, they should have only made one tough decision and traded Freeny, and KEPT Clint Session, Kelvin Hayden, and Robert Mathis. If Mathis stays of course, I'll be happy. But Session is a beast, and Hayden hasn't let us down. Freeney just makes too much to be worth more than those three. His last deal was over 70million. Mathis has been more productive in recent years, and his career stats are almost as impressive, with a hundred more tackles and only 20 less sacks. |
Mathis and Wayne are not FA's.
The Colts always let there linebackers go. Mike Peterson, Marcus Washington, David Thorton and now Sessions. And some dumb team always over pays for those guys and then quickly finds out that those guys only work in the Colts system. Sessions wasnt even that great. |
Trade Freeney?
Are you high? |
Freeny don't even have to put stats up to change the game. Robert Mathis wouldn't be worth anything with out him. He draws double and triple teams every single play. He's a top five defensive player in the league.
|
We're talking about 3 players vs 1. I am not at all saying Freeney isn't an extremely useful player. But Mathis, Sessions, and Hayden. Other than Mathis, those were some pretty cheap contracts to just give up, given how productive the players are. We're talking about the money to success ratio here. Freeney was once the highest paid defensive player in the league, which is a lot of hype to live up to.
Hayden's been extremely productive every season since he sealed the Super Bowl win, even while missing games. When he plays, he's proven his usefulness. Sessions put up an incredible 09 season, and I really doubt his injury last season was a career changer. He has huge potential, and when he was on the field, he was productive. You can say Mathis wouldn't be anything without Freeney, but Freeney wouldn't be nearly as successful without someone like Mathis playing the opposite side. When Freeney is getting shut down, Mathis is the one making the plays. I'm sure Mathis has learned a lot from the master, but watching him play is equally as impressive. If Mathis was the number one DE and the team took a slightly different approach to the D, there's no telling how different things could be. They need to change some kind of dynamic in their defense if they want it to be more successful, and if there's one thing I've noticed about Colts defense, it's that they have immense trouble shutting down the run game, even with the duo. I cringed every time a Back slipped right through the middle and took off. And even then, Mathis is the one making the tackles when offenses go the opposite direction due to Freeney being there. Yeah it's important to put pressure on the QB, but Freeney has been slowly tapering off these past few seasons. Just don't think he's worth such a huge contract when Mathis gets less than half that. And Wayne and Mathis' contracts are both running out. There's no way they'll let Wayne go, but if it comes down to money, Mathis might go as he has a bonus coming up and the Colts are looking to save money. Colts could get a hell of a deal for someone like Freeney. A deal that could help them a lot in the next 5 seasons they've got Manning, especially if they still had those 3 other players. |
Also, claiming a player wont work in another team's setup is just guess-work at best. It's even worse that we let him go to the Jags, who actually put up a fight last season. Hayden was replaced by a rookie. There's a lot of new blood going to the Colts, which is great if they end up being good. But they're losing a lot of proven players in the process.
|
Freeney did pretty good before Mathis came to the team. Hayden has been injured most of the last three years. Clint Sessions couldn't fight off a block if his life depended on it. And Hayden is not being replaced by a rookie. I wouldn't be suprised if the Colts went after cromartie, but if not, its gunna be Lacey
|
Freeney was only there a year before Mathis came and his best seasons were his first 4. He fell off big in the middle, and only picked it up 'somewhat' in recent years. They signed some rookie CB already after releasing Hayden. Jerraud Powers and Lacey would be an alright combo, but they are still both relatively new and they are still unproven in the long term. They are pretty good though. They're not household names, and they're not really scary to other teams. (not saying Hayden was either really)
Colts would do good to go after Cromartie, and he has said he would be interested in playing for them. But I don't know how good of a fit he would be, as the Colts typically don't deal with 'character issues'. Cromartie could clash with them. Anyways, I'm just going off all the money compromises the Colts are having to make. Lot of new blood coming in, and I'm sure a lot of changes going on with all the new staff and staff changes going on the past couple years. Lot of new faces on the team in all areas. |

Welcome to Jacksonville Mr. Coleman. Loving all these defensive moves the Jags are making, but it'd be nice if they snagged some fucking WR's to throw to as well! Mike Thomas and Mercedes Lewis won't cut it. |
Burress to the Jets.
God damn it. Watching the clips of him from the Super Bowl season made me want him back - even though I doubt he'll be the same player he once was. |
Seahawks cut Lofa Tatupu.
I really, really, REALLY would love for the Giants to sign him. But he asked to be cut because he didn't want to take a pay cut when he was already scheduled to make $4 million. Giants are already in cap hell and they still haven't re-signed Boss or Bradshaw. They might not have re-signed Smith either although I've seen conflicting rumors. Either way, looking more and more like the Giants aren't making any moves and that they will be rolling with essentially the same team that blew it 2 years running. In before the Eagles sign Tatupu. |
I'm not looking forward to this season, at all. I've got Vitoitis.
|
I'm looking forward to the season. Even if your teams sucks, there's just nothing like football on NFL Sundays.
But yeah, this is the first year since like 2003 where I don't feel particularly good about the Giants' chances going in. When the best thing you have to look forward to is that the team apparently signed a "killer" UDFA class - you know it's been a slow offseason. |
The Eagles need to calm the fuck down.

From everything I've read, sounds like Eli wanted no part in Plax coming back.
So much for Plaxinno. |
Eagles have done a masterful job it looks like. Great for them ,hope they fall apart and it blows up in their face.
But it looks like it's all up to Vick they seem to have everything in place. Cowboys still need to sign a godamn safety  |
And if Spencer doesn't step up we will have so many holes on defense it'll be like swiss cheese. DE, S, CB, Rush-OLB..
|
Really love the Jets approach the last few years of being as obnoxious as possible

This I agree with. Todd Heap to the Cards. Kolb got a couple nice targets to work with this season. |
