Of course AEW needs it's own champions. I'm hoping they come up with something innovative for a secondary title like when the X Division first came around.

Once again, Jim Ross said wrestling titles have never meant less. I didn't say that, Jim Ross said that. But an additional AEW championship added to the landscape of profession wrestling is ok to him in his narrative that title belts have no value.

Hypocrisy

Bro. Come on. He worked for NJPW. He knows the IWGP and Intercontinental titles are treated with a great deal of respect. He was clearly referring to the WWE. Read between the lines.

Like, even STD has calmed down with the try hard AEW hate. You’re worse than STD right now.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 06:10 PM

Thought Cody was supposed to be a heel.... dunno about anything anymore....

Ok, preshow done.... gonna see if I can find the show now

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 06:13 PM

Found it... says "HD Quality" but it definitely is not.... may impact my enjoyment.... just putting that out there

If someone doesn't know what STD stands for here it's a hilarious insult.

"Did he just call me a sexually transmitted disease?"

So who's gonna come up with "that would be less of an insult?"

Fignuts 05-26-2019 06:14 PM

Cody’s been a face since the end of his match against Omega.

He just retained his cocky, shit eating grin persona in the process.

Which is something I actually appreciate. One of my pet peeves in wrestling is when a guy turns face and it’s like he’s discovered Christ and changed literally everything about himself in like a day.

Props to Cody for that.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 06:19 PM

Confused by SCU and their gimmick

Are you joking??? What AEW hate is in ANY of these posts.

The only thing I hate about AEW is how you can't say anything negative about anything or anybody that has any association with that company without a bunch of backlash that I am "just an AEW hater" and blah blah.

If I hated them so much why the fuck would I support them with $50 for a PPV.

If I said the SAME EXACT thing about Corey Graves, I wouldn't get any replies.

In fact, feel free to search my posts, I've said worse things about Corey than he is a hypocrite, without a bunch of "oh you just hate WWE" bullshit.

So what exactly is the difference other than who they work for?

Because a bitter old man opened his mouth about his former employer, and yes we all know he is talking about WWE, but he didn't have the balls to say WWE, don't want to burn that bridge in case of a future potential payday, instead he made a generalized statement about all of pro wrestling. All of pro wrestling would then would include AEW. Since he made it about all of pro wrestling, then he is a hypocrite for acting like this one new title matters.

It's exactly why actual fans don't want AEW or any of their people going out of the way to bring up any other wrestling company.

It's the same way ill think it will suck if Moxley comes out and cuts the same promo about WWE evil, WWE held me down, etc that every former WWE guys cut as soon as they got to Impact.

If this time is supposed to be different, don't have your announcers out there bringing up WWE because they have an axe to grind. Just be AEW.

They have the pieces, they have the talent, they can succeed without ever acknowledging WWE even exists. And it's exactly what they should do.

It's called hypocrisy.

Belts don't mean anything, oh but this brand new one does.

It's the same problem I have with HHH saying something like "Guardians of the Indies" but then signing a bunch of Indy guys.

Hypocrisy is Hypocrisy regardless of which brand said guy works for.

Had JR not said that shit, I wouldn't have thought of it during the AEW title reveal.

There’s a difference between genuine critique and hating on something out of spite. Your posts in this thread come off like the latter. Since you paid for the event and everything I’ll assume it’s unintentional, but your tone is why you’re getting so much pushback. Plenty of people have criticized AEW for different reasons.

And on Jim Ross, if you want to nail him to the cross just for not being specific then go ahead I guess but no one else gives a fuck.

rez 05-26-2019 06:55 PM

Just finished the pre show. Good shit. Time for the PPV...I know the results already but it's still entertaining.

Lol you mean all the times I said something was good, or that I was enjoying the show, that makes my tone come across as hating and spiteful.

Got distracted for a bit... back at it... fun little opening match.... wish the commentators did better giving me a reason to care about it at all.....

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 07:34 PM

Women's match now....

Smiley Kylie seems like Bayley on "crack cocaine"

Nyla Rose with a sweet entrance and look....

Britt Baker is a dentist... hope she has a tooth-related submission hold....

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 07:37 PM

Sweet! Welfare Queen is #ALLIN!!

Nice surprise.... wish Nyla Rose didn't seem "worried" but "welcomed the challenge"....

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 07:51 PM

Women's match first good match of the night. Nyla Rose's ability did not live up to the hype of her entrance/look, and I think the wrong person won..... but was good!

I thought she did a pretty good job of looking between the two. She kind of looked serious about it, but then was like "Okay, this could be fun..."

From what I can gather, they kind of do an Elias thing where they go for the cheap heat, except because fans are "smart" these days, they love it when they get insulted. So they are babyfaces. Kind of like Elias was for a few weeks there, except they changed everything about him that was working to the degree that it was.

I liked the opening six-man, but something about the group just doesn't "click" for me. I don't know what it is. Maybe I just think Daniels is so good that he deserves more? Or maybe I've just got it in my head that Daniels & Kazarian are such a great tag team, but adding a third man is just adding a third man (not a knock on Sky) in order to form a lesser tag team?

My favorite jab he took was when he said that they could actually use the referees' names.

Cody and AEW have taken a really smart tone with how they present themselves. Way less phony than WWE.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 07:56 PM

Hate Jack Evans and Angelico already due to their entrance..... they will prob be flipping around a lot....

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 07:58 PM

Way too much neon green in this match

slik 05-26-2019 08:00 PM

AOC is ALL ELITE

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 08:09 PM

Noticing this bald ref seems very bad at counting..... makes it very obvious when he is "slowing down" after counting 2 because he knows the dude is supposed to kick out.....

Evil Vito 05-26-2019 08:09 PM

For what it’s worth, SCU are a stable but they don’t always work as a trio. It’s not unusual a Indy shows for two of them to work a tag while the other does a solo match. That’s what happened at All In with Kazarian and Sky teaming on the pre-show while Daniels faced Stephen Amell.

Will be interested in seeing how they’re booked.

Mr. Nerfect 05-26-2019 08:12 PM

Really want to see a Daniels vs. CIMA match.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 08:14 PM

Tag match was ok I guess... right people won at least

rez 05-26-2019 08:15 PM

Watching the fatal four way womens' match. Me likie...yeah. Smiley is like a Bayley rip off.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 08:17 PM

lol at the lights going out and back on, and all the commentators can say is "What are they doing here?" to which I think "Why don't you tell us who they are?", but then the one dude legit doesn't seem to know who they are.....

Mr. Nerfect 05-26-2019 08:18 PM

AOC sharing that is pretty pinnacle of what AEW is trying to do by making themselves a far more progressive company than WWE, and a good example of how their phony bullshit and accepting that Saudi deal might be something they regret when it comes to appealing culturally later on.

Wrestling has a "dirty" rep. Being perceived as being on the right side of history is a good step to making them appealing to a wider array of fans, advertisers, networks, merchandisers, etc. Helps them get over as a babyface company.

I just found out that they are the Super Smash Bros. I had no clue, and Excalibur is knows who they are, but probably can't say their name because of trademark infringements and such, so they were just counting on people to know, but apparently no one did.

Mr. Nerfect 05-26-2019 08:22 PM

They looked like fucking goobers. Seriously low-rent shit that honestly made me think that the mid-card tag division is going to be for comedy. What, between all the hugging and ridiculousness and whatnot.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 08:23 PM

The one commentator seemed to know but then he didn't say.... I guess because it is supposed to be "who are these people" scenario.... Interested in the big masked dude with all the followers.....

Mr. Nerfect 05-26-2019 08:24 PM

I think Excalibur's line was "I know who they are, but I'm not sure I should say..." or something like that. Pretty sure they can't call them the Super Smash Bros.

Lock Jaw 05-26-2019 08:27 PM

Why does this Riho braud have such a huge title.... why is there such a huge title?

or they can slowly build to a match between the 2 where they both get wins and you can stop being a fucking idiot.

Kabuki Warriors vs Kabuki Warriors match was good despite mix up at the end, though some of their gimmicks were "a bit much" at times.....

Women's stuff has been the best so far....

Ol Dirty Dastard 05-26-2019 08:50 PM

of the 3 main events - which I enjoyed unanimously - Jericho vs Omega was my favourite, even though it was the most sloppy. Came across as more of a war. Dustin and Cody both brought the emotion.
