I think its pretty simple

If United fail to beat Arsenal at Highbury, its over.

I would probably agree with you but I hate it when I rule Man U out and then they always come back :(. This one looks to be a bit out of reach though.

Rob 02-28-2004 01:08 PM

It will be out of reach in two games. I know United so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt but you have to be realistic. I say two games because if the gap is closed, both Chelsea and Man U have to play Arsenal and that could blow it wide open. If it's 9 points still by then, Arsenal would need to lose both and that's some challenge.

Dazz 02-28-2004 01:15 PM

Chelsea don't have to play Arsenal, we play you on the second to last game of the season though.

Razor Rybek 02-28-2004 04:18 PM

Honestly, what the hell is Ferguson playing at, if you are 7 points behind the leaders at this stage in the season, you really should'nt be resting vital players. I understand that playing in europe takes a toll but for the wage these players get, i would play like four games a week and not complain. You would think Fergie would learn as this is like the third/forth time that resting players against so called "weaker" sides has blown up in his face.

Alex Ferguson is a fantastic manager and will forever be a legend within the english game but maybe, just maybe its time for a new face in the hotseat at United

With that said, I would like to point out that I am IN NO WAY ruling United out of the title race, doing that would just be foolish

Mr. Monday Morning 02-28-2004 06:35 PM

Well that was a bit of an anti-climax :o

Having said that...wooooo out of the relegation zone

Wondering if anybody out there has an opinion on the theory that RvN was dropped for making his comments about United missing Beckham in midweek? It sounds utterly ridiculous *but*...well, I wouldn't 100% put it past Ferguson :o

Rob 02-28-2004 07:43 PM

Can't people people are really saying Ferguson should quit. If I have learnt anything it's NEVER doubt Ferguson. I can't understand why Giggs and Van Nistelrooy never started either but I still don't doubt him. Sometimes you have to gamble and this one never paid off. I was more concerned about not playing Howard in all honesty.

Rob 02-28-2004 07:48 PM

Frank McLintock said on Soccer Saturday "his source" told him Beckham to Chelsea in the summer is a done deal. Take that for all it's worth.

Ogen 02-28-2004 08:53 PM

Can't see that happening at all unless Chelsea are about to completly smash transfer records is a stupid way

Exactly.

Real Madrid would lose millions in merchandise revenue, as well as a player who is quite possibly playing the best football of his life right now.

Its gotta be something unbelivably stupid, like, 60-70 million to sign him, which if you think about it, is possible, because that would wipe Madrid's debts

Yeah wtf, considering how many goals both teams score and concede,0-0 was one of the last results i'd have expected.

I reckon we had to win really but i'll be a bit more confident if we don't lose to Birmingham and beat Everton in our next games.

Mr. Monday Morning 02-29-2004 08:38 AM

Villa at home next

Cactus Sid 02-29-2004 09:02 AM

WTF, we can't even beat Leeds

Baros was quality, Kewell showed how good he can be, we played so well, but couldn't win.

Owen, Murphy and Finnan were sh</>ite IMO. Owen just doesn't have it anymore at all, he doesn't look interested, and he doesn't know how to pass a ball. Murphy and Finnan kept giving the ball away and didn't offer anything going forward.

Cactus Sid 02-29-2004 11:04 AM

Might as well put it here, Boro won the Carling Cup

Good fast half, Second wasn't fantastic

Campo was so unbelievably crap

Rob 02-29-2004 11:36 AM

Owen doesn't have it? Talk about going over the top.

Good cup final though. I am really happy for Juninho. He is one of my top 5 all time favourite players.

Wengerland 02-29-2004 01:04 PM

Yeah i thought it was a pretty good, open cup final.:y:

Newcastle and Liverpool could have done us a favour though.:foc:

I don't know, they've only lost once at home since the match against Chelsea, and that was against Arsenal.

I'll still be urging Villa to win though.:$

Yeah my dad told me that his 'source' told him in December we made a bid for Beckham, and Becks is unhappy in Spain because of Mrs Becks not wanting to go there. Back then my dad's source said that we were meant to be trying really hard to get him, and he was meant to be interested in coming to us, and was reportidly in Lazio to see us beat them 4-0.

Now, thats why I haven't said anything about it, because, Becks was playing for Real Madrid the night we beat Lazio, so he couldn't have been there. So I assumed the whole thing was BS, maybe not though.

On current form, its not exactly over the top.

Razor Rybek 02-29-2004 04:36 PM

If Beckham goes to Chelsea, Sven will more than likely follow IMO. Cant believe Sven's comments in the Paper today, surely he should be focusing on Euro 2004 and not on his next employer.

Great game today between Liverpool and Leeds, was glad to see Viduka get on the score sheet. He's been the subject of public arguements (club v Country) recently and he deserved the goal today, him and Smith are working like troopers to try and keep the club up so good on them for the point today.

As for Owen, he certainly dont look as sharp as he can be but he will find his form again soon, even if its at another club.

Mr. Monday Morning 02-29-2004 05:15 PM

Oh well, after Villa it's only Liverpool and Chelsea away.

Easy 9 points there :shifty:

Cactus Sid 02-29-2004 05:17 PM

I have faith in Wolves

Wengerland 02-29-2004 05:39 PM

Yeah after Birmingham we have home games against both Scouse clubs.

If you beat us, I probably won't go in the sports forum till the start of next season. Or when you get relegated, whichever happens first.

The Mask 02-29-2004 08:51 PM

We're fu</>cked, but Ronaldo is looking better and better. If he can learn to cross a bit better and get more swerve on the ball, he'll be the man

Cactus Sid 03-01-2004 04:25 AM

I've gotta agree, Ronaldo has started to ditch his "tricks" and become more of an out and out winger, he's got some real pace (even if he runs like a ponce) and if he learns to put the ball into the box, rather than mess around with it, he can be a great asset

He'll never be a Beckham though

The Mask 03-01-2004 09:10 AM

no no, he needs to keep the tricks. he does great with them half the time, and it's great to watch. It's just his crossing and finishing looks a bit suspect to me, he never gets much of a swerve or height on it, if he can do that and keep the tricks, but learn to pass at the right moment, he's gonna be one of the best players in the world.

Razor Rybek 03-01-2004 09:30 AM

Ronaldo also needs to learn when to drop and when to stay on his feet, certain instances call for a little dive here and there but he seems hit the deck far too much. Other than that he's class.

Even more incentive to win

packt up 03-01-2004 01:38 PM

Ronaldo seems to be getting better.

Which is good for Man U because before he was a prat who did **** all.
