Thank god Leiter came with his A game today. Hopefully he can be a solid starter, and can give us at least 6 innings.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-18-2005 12:31 AM

This past series really sucked. I was hoping for a sweep, or atleast 3 wins to really bury the Yankees and kill any type of momentum they might have going after the break. The exact opposite happened though. Red Sox are still in first I guess, but its not a good feeling.

Go get Eddie Guardado.

Also, LOL at the Yankees thinking that Al Lieter will solve any problems. Why would you take on Jaret Wright and Kevin Brown? It doesn't take a VEL to figure out that they will be injured.

Dragon 07-18-2005 11:53 AM

The Yankees weren't expecting much out of Al Leiter, he was just a better choice than what they had already.

Innovator 07-18-2005 12:24 PM

Anything would be better than the guys we were putting in, cmon that Redding guy gave up 8 runs in two innings, something like that

Lotus 07-18-2005 01:13 PM

Wow, just took a look at my picks. My NL Central is hella off, so is my AL West, and having the Nats finish 4th, but my AL Central is on point, and my AL East is pretty good except for Toronto-Tampa Bay

Dragon 07-18-2005 08:41 PM

Rangers leading 3-0 in the 1st inning against the Yankees.

Brown already has thrown 35 pitches, and you really can't tell if he is healthy or not, because even when he was healthy this season he was this shitty.

Loose Cannon 07-18-2005 08:42 PM

throw him in the East River

Nervous Ferret 07-18-2005 09:11 PM

haha 5 runs that inning

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-18-2005 10:29 PM

Red Sox lost today and it looks like the Yankees are on the way to a victory. Fuck

Dragon 07-18-2005 10:46 PM

9-9 now.

Bernie Williams. :'(

BCWWF 07-18-2005 11:34 PM

Sosa had a two run jack in like the seventh, the only flaw in a great night by Silva, but the Twins came back and it was sweet. First I think it was Stewart got a leadoff double, then L-Rod drove him home. Then the next inning Hunter got a double and got home on a Bret Boone bunt. It was sweet as shite, that is until Miguel Tejada went yard in the 11th.

I am hoping the Yankees and Orioles just beat themselves up and the Twins make it by default, thats all I can hope for unless we start to hit.

Bricktop 07-18-2005 11:59 PM

Hitters game with the Yanks and Rangers tonight. I am seriously having my doubts about the yanks finding a decent 4th starting pitcher and the issue of center fielding It just seems Brown is beyond terrible and you pray he doesn't blow his lead each time. That is one of the many reasons the yanks were screwed in game 7 versus boston last year.

Other then that. Finally in first place, if only for a moment.

The Outlaw 07-19-2005 12:57 AM

Misdemeanor assault? Give me a break.

RoXer 07-19-2005 01:06 AM

A's lost. :(

Kotsay with two errors. His first error since September.

Adder 07-19-2005 10:56 AM

Kenny Rogers mouthing off to another cameraman today. While going into the courthouse to face charges of assaulting two cameramen. LOL what a loser... He was having a good year too. Always fades in the second half they say, this year (until the cameraman stuff) he seemed poised to pitch a full season of good ball. I guess it just isn't in the cards for him.

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE></TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Kenny Rogers turned himself in, and then had another run-in with a television cameraman.

The Texas Rangers pitcher jawed at a cameraman for Dallas-Fort Worth television station WFAA as he was booked into the county jail Monday on misdemeanor assault charges stemming from an earlier tirade against two cameramen. Just as with the incident that led to the charges, the exchange was caught on tape.

Rogers, a three-time All-Star who is appealing a 20-game suspension and $50,000 fine imposed by baseball commissioner Bud Selig, was released after posting $1,500 bond.

In the latest run-in, WFAA reported on its Web site Monday that photographer Mike Zukerman was videotaping the procedure when Rogers turned to him and said, ``You're getting really close; you know that? Do you hear me?'' A few seconds later, Rogers again turned to the camera, saying, ``You must be pretty proud of yourself, too.'' After Zukerman replied, ``It's just my job, Kenny,'' Rogers responded: ``Yeah. Your job. That's just your excuse.''

The rest...

Most of the time leaving Saarloos in past the 5th is a bad idea. Angels will probably take 2 of 3, if Macha wasn't a dickass he'd DH Kendall and let Melhuse catch because otherwise Figgins will run everytime he gets on.

BCWWF 07-19-2005 03:18 PM

Apparently there is a trade in the works:
Red Sox get:
JC Romero

Twins get:
Kevin Millar

I dunno, I love JC, he was the man and a huge part of us in 2002, but he has been pretty inconsistant in the last couple years, like you never know if he is going to just absolutely blow. We have been built around having a great bullpen forever now, but we do need another bat and maybe Millar can do it. I don't mind when guys go from the Twins to Sox either, like JC would fit it well and still be the man over there. We'll see, it sounds like its pretty much a go though in our paper here.

The Miz 07-19-2005 03:58 PM

Who would play 1B for Red Sox? Olerud?

The Miz 07-19-2005 04:10 PM

I don't like that trade for the Twins. Morneau is a better 1B than Millar so Morneau would probably remain at 1B, so essentially they're getting a DH because Millar sucks even worse in the outfield and the Twins outfield is solid. Millar has little power and doesn't hit for a great average, not really what they want in a DH. They can probably get just as much production from Lew Ford as they would from Millar. I agree they need another bat but I don't think Millar is the answer. With pitching as deep as there's they could probably get something better. If it went through I'm guessing their lineup would be something like this

1. Stewart LF
2. Boone 2B
3. Mauer C
4. Morneau 1B
5. Hunter CF
6. Millar DH
7. Jones RF
8. Cuddyer/Punto/Rodriguez 3B
9. Castro SS

Unless I'm missing something :?:

MVP 07-19-2005 05:23 PM

I don't see the trade as a total loss. Red Sox need more strength in the bullpen seeing as it's the 2nd worst in the AL. Ortiz can play 1st, and Mirabelli can take over as DH.

BCWWF 07-19-2005 08:06 PM

I'm sorry not Millar, Bill Mueller. I get them mixed up. He would play third and then I would have to assume that Punto goes to shortstop.

BCWWF 07-19-2005 08:08 PM

The article also says that Millar is available though, but he wants to stay in Boston

The Miz 07-19-2005 09:24 PM

Bill Mueller makes more sense for the Twins. Have they given up on Cuddyer?

Do the Red Sox have some hot 3B prospect or something, cuz I can't see Youkilis being the full time 3B.

Loose Cannon 07-19-2005 09:57 PM

I thought Millar wanted out of Boston because he's pissed about not getting enough playing time?

They don't have any big 3B prospects that I know of. In fact their only big prospect now is Hanley Ramirez since they just traded Chip Ambres.

Yup...

BCWWF 07-20-2005 02:43 AM

No he did ask for a trade because Olerud keeps coming in as a defensive replacement and Millar is on a contract year, but the Red Sox aren't going to trade him just because he requested it. I read that somewhere too. I think that the thing from my article just means he didn't want to come to the Twins maybe.

RoXer 07-21-2005 01:36 AM

:y: :D :y:

Ayyyyyy...'s

OssMan 07-21-2005 02:13 PM

lol Paul Quantrill

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2005 02:26 PM

I don't think the Red Sox are going to trade Bill Mueller, Millar I could see. Not Mueller though

The Miz 07-21-2005 02:39 PM

The Angels need a bat, badly. 6.5 is not as comfortable as it looked a few weeks ago

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-21-2005 04:32 PM

I heard about that Mueller trade on sports radio earlier today, I hope it's not true. Youk isn't even in the majors right now, he just got sent back down to Triple A so I don't know who would be on 3rd if they trade Mueller. I heard something about Renteria being okay with playing third, so who knows I guess.

I also heard something about trading Arroyo and somebody else for Burnett. Maybe it will be a huge 3 team trade again like what happened last year or something.

Jesus Shuttlesworth 07-22-2005 01:31 AM

Manny goes yard in the 9th

CLUTCH HITTING BABY

RoXer 07-22-2005 01:33 AM

Yeah, saw that on the news. Poor Crede

RoXer 07-22-2005 01:35 AM

Phillies get: Matt Kata
D-Backs get: Tim Worrell

Not bad. Kata is pretty good. He was one of the origingal "babybacks" and did well in AAA this year. He wasn't getting enough time though behind Counsell/Clayton/Glaus/Cintron. And we need ANYTHING consistant in the bullpen. Maybe a veteran will stir things up. We'll see.

YOUR Hero 07-22-2005 01:36 AM

Vlad, grand slam to help defeat the Yankees. Jays sweep the M's. Next stop KC

YOUR Hero 07-22-2005 01:37 AM

What's Worrell's role going to be :?: ... set up man.

Bricktop 07-22-2005 01:41 AM

I wish the yanks would stop testing their unknown pitchers at critical moments in the game and then expect Gordon to clean up the mess. Terrible loss.

RoXer 07-22-2005 01:58 AM

Worrell will be "man from bullpen #6".

Aquino, Bruney, Valverde, Koplove, Lyon, Worrell.

6 guys who can be setup/specialist/middle relief/closers. No one can figure out what they want to be though.
