Future is bright though. Crawford in the minors, Nola and Velasquez already up, high pick this year. Philly is gonna be fine long-term.
|
I expect the Phillies to trail off eventually but yeah, their future is bright. Ditto for Atlanta. Oh and the Marlins are pretty decent too and should get better next year.
The NL East is going to be a fucking loaded division soon, which is why I wanted the Mets to go balls out in this next year or two when they have their whole stable of cost-controlled pitching before some of the rebuilding teams are back to contention. |
Speaking of the Mets, their lineup continues to be a fucking joke and they're 100% reliant on home runs in a big ballpark. That is the only way they know how to score. It's a fucking joke that none of these guys know how to manufacture runs.
|
Yankees avoid the sweep.
In other news, Hal Steinbrenner blames the players for their woes. Not Joe Girardi. Regardless, he's gone along with Cashman if things don't turn around. |
99% of the time, its the players fault anyways and the coach just gets the brunt of it (see Atlanta's Gonzalez)....not much sense firing a manager for a sub-par record when they dump big money contracts and only sign AAA plugs....
|
And Matt Harvey departs with 2 outs in the 3rd inning, having given up 9 runs.
Seriously, send this fucking bum to AAA until he sorts his shit out, or make up an injury to DL him or something. They gain absolutely nothing by running him out there every 5 days looking like this. |
Travis Wood got the super rare extra innings bullpen Superwin the other night as the Cubs continue to pile up Superwins like they're going out of style.

Chis Sale wins again. WOOOOO. 9-0 baby.

Down goes Heyward

looks like a broken arm or dislocated/seperated shoulder
|
Os powered by Rickard leadoff homer hit 4 homers to beat the Angels 9-4. 25-15 through 40 translates out to 100 wins
|
MLB changing the official strike zone as early as next season due to how umps have been calling the lower part of the zone.

Pinged on my phone just now that the Yankees dugout is flooded with backed up septic water/sewage over at O.co Stadium in Oakland.
Been saying it for awhile, A's and Raiders need to get out of there. |
Just trying to make em feel at home.

The Cubs have collected so many Superwins this year they were bound to be victimized by one soon. Matt Cain breaks an 0-for-48 skid at the plate and drives in 2 runs in a Superwin against the Cubs, bringing his record to 1-5 on the year.

Ump was shotty the whole game only way to explain how Shoemaker got 12 ks in 7.1 innings

How did Hawk Harrelson get ahold of your two accounts?
|
Also, for those who haven't heard it, see if you can find the clip of Hawk being so concerned for Todd Frazier after he hit his mouth diving into the seats for a foul ball that he literally left the broadcast booth to go check on him. Like it was life threatening. Like he didn't have a job to do at the time. When are they going to just tell him to stay home?
|
you mean: when are they going to tell him "HE GONE!"?

I get Gary Thorne for Os games about 2/3 of the time |
Him doing the empty stadium game in a golf announcers voice was hilarious though

If I want to watch a Sox game, I want good play by play and analysis of the game. I don't want to hear a soundboard of catchphrases, silence, an aimless story about "how I played with Yaz" and blaming the umpire's strike zone everytime the Sox are down by 1.
|
A play by play TV commentator left the booth in the middle of the inning to do....what?? See an injured player? What a pro.
|
Hawk Harrelson is terrible and anybody who likes him should feel terrible.

Drebin is spitting so much truth.

WOOOO someone besides Sale won.

This game sums up how to beat the Cubs if it wasn't already evident in the NLCS last year and as recently as against the Brewers last week.
Take away their hitting advantage is easy. They like to work the count. The starter piles up pitches and before you know it, you're into middle relief in the 6th inning at the beginning of a series. That may work in the regular season, but not in the playoffs. If you have a starter who is confident in his stuff, and he pounds the strike zone, the Cubs are in trouble. Look at this game so far tonight. Mad Bum throws 28 pitches in the 1st inning and loads the bases with 2 outs. Cubs don't come through, but that won't always be the case. You have to give yourself the opportunity before you can take it. The rest of the way? 6.2+ only 87 pitches. 0 runs and no real opportunities. Yes, its Madison Bumgarner. But who do you think they face in the playoffs? You can do that during a 162 game season when you face a teams 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th best starters, but doing that against a series of front line starters.....guys getting Cy Young votes? Good luck. Cubs are going to have the best record in Baseball, but the Giants and Mets would beat them in October with the way things stand now. The Cubs problem? I'm trying to wrap my head around it because I can't believe this could be true: they have too many good hitters. |
It also marks two nights in a row that the Cubs got Superwin'd

Wait Jerad Eickoff got one today too. Need to give credit where it's due to the Phillies/screech

VITO! Got tickets to see the 51's play tonight. Any future Mets I should keep an eye on?
|
Dilson Herrera who is their 2B of the future and saw some time in Queens the last two seasons.
Brandon Nimmo who is a lefty hitting outfielder. I'm actually not yet convinced he'll be an everyday option in the majors but he's still young/promising. Also TJ Rivera/Ty Kelly are two journeyman minor leaguers who are tearing the cover off the ball this season attempting to force a call up to the Mets bench. I heard Kelly may actually be getting called up as early as today depending on if Duda lands on the DL. |
Roger that.
