I absolutely do see CM Punk as an embarrassing failure at MMA. No matter how they book him, I can't forget that this is a dude that was so inept at real fighting he was unable to even defend himself from being pinched and tickled by a guy high on weed who was himself so bad Dana White fired him after a win! If I watch any of the Naked Gun Movies, no matter how funny they are, when I see O.J. Simpson I remember that he murdered 2 people. When I see CM Punk talking tough to another wrestler, I see his destroyed face and horrible spinning kicks. He has no lore in my eyes. Bryan is a much more important and better signing. |
I can personally ignore the MMA stuff. Not saying everyone can, or that they’re obliged to. I can disconnect them as separate sports. But I don’t begrudge anyone for not being that into Punk. When he was gone, even his wrestling run seemed overhyped to me. It was largely based around him being an other to a frustrating product, more so than him being actually as good as I was trying to will him to be.
He was my Sunday Night Heat darlings getting a chance. I wanted something else so bad. But Punk was not the guy that John Cena was, for example. Although I was too in the bubble to see it at the time. Bryan is one of my favorite workers ever. He’s just been featured in a prominent role on WWE TV and has never truly embarrassed himself. I’m genuinely not surprised if he were an actual bigger needle-mover. My problem with him in AEW is that he’s surrounded by a circus that makes what he represents so much more trivial, no matter how good he actually is. I don’t blame people for still loving him, but I have actually seen people who feel that in their own ordering of kayfabe — trying to make this shit make sense — he got his ass kicked in WWE and went to AEW to be a big fish. People think way differently about professional wrestling than the Observer would have you believe. I’m not saying this is a popular opinion or whatever. But there are a lot of people who just can’t seem to, at least at this point, get into the idea of Bryan Danielson vs. what he was as Daniel Bryan — right, wrong or otherwise. Meanwhile a lot of AEW fanboys are throwing their arms up like this is Nash and Hall joining WCW in 1996. |

Tony Khan On AEW Audience: “We Have A More Affluent Fanbase”
:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl: All those middle aged white guys wearing sweatpants to AEW shows are SUPER AFFLUENT :lol::lol::lol::lol: https://www.wrestlinginc.com/news/20...luent-fanbase/ |
Yeah, citation needed.

AEW has teamed up with The Owen Hart Foundation

agreed lol

This is fantastic news. Super pumped for the tourney and for him to be in the video game.
Tony Khan milking another wrestler death. At least Owen didn't die at the hands of Tony Khan like Brodie Lee.
Also this does seem to contradict the longstanding notion that Martha Hart hates wrestling. Seems she really just hates wrestling promotions that kill her husband. Imagine that.
It's really weird that they are doing all with for a wrestler who never stepped foot in the ring. Kinda like when the WWE inducts someone in their Hall of Fame who never wrestled there.
Hope Ricky Starks wins the initial 'The Owen' cup
Kevin Steen gonna be the first winner.
Whoever it is, they have to beat MJF for it. |

Holy shit!
This is really good for the memory of Owen.
Feels exploitative as hell. Surprised they haven’t used Vickie Guerrero to pump Eddie Guerrero’s image all over merchandise yet.
Ricky Starks is now permanently replacing Mark Henry on commentary for Rampage.
I’m so ready for this promotion to be cancelled and just go away. Fucking wrestling, man.
Don't think it is going to go away anytime soon.... if Impact wrestling can still be alive, then survival chances are good....
The Owen thing is very cool. Surprised they named a tournament for him over Brodie though.
Khan family need to sell off Fulham F.C. AEW is booming but Jaguars ....well, are the Jags.
they then could hire Noid in as an executive wrestling consultant

Going by the past here, he MUST be a paid shill. Shame on him!!!
Cornette SouledOut?!!?! |
Bryan Danielson pens a goodbye letter to WWE in the Players Tribune
And this is why he's one of, if not the most respected current wrestler in the business. Seriously a class act. Boggles my mind that anyone could actually be mad at him for leaving. |
Arthur Ashe getting set up
cool @ big screens above the ring https://pbs.twimg.com/media/E_1KBJKV...jpg&name=small |
love that
That looks super cool, can't wait to see it in action tomorrow.
Show will be done around midnight assuming all of Rampage is being taped after Dynamite, the lights out match between Kingston/Mox and Suzuki/Archer will probably be the last match of the night then, and really Kingston doing the post-show speech to send everyone home will be super fitting.
I'd imagine a ton of people will be flocking to the Willets Point train after that. Subways heading into Manhattan every 15 min or so. My hotel is conveniently located a block away from both Penn Station and the end of the 7 line, so even someone who sucks at navigating like me can't possibly fuck up getting back. |
Vito just jinxed himself into a night of wandering the mean streets of Metropolis into the wee hours of the morning. He will be telling us stories of how all the buildings looked the same and he thought he had slipped into a parallel dimension horror film.
I love you Vito. Please don't get accosted by wraiths and/or eaten by zombies.
Haha, generally when I've ventured into city public transport I'm always with a buddy that lives there and they know exactly what train to go on and when.
Leaving NXT Takeover at WM weekend in 2019, I made the mistake of getting on an express train instead of a local. My hotel was again right next to a subway station, that we then promptly went right past lol. |
